Title: Will it EVER get warm???? Post by bikerbraid on Jun 4th, 2008 at 10:34pm
I cannot remember a spring like this one in all my years of living in Minnesota. Here is it June and we are still having daily highs barely making 60. Of all the years to sell my car and be dependent on my bike for commuting!! 40's in the morning are a chilly ride in.
This past weekend we had a severe storm (but at least the temps were in the 70's!!). We had golf ball sized hail covering everything. I spent an hour tonight SHOVELING the debris off our patio. The streets are covered with green debris, which makes for a slick ride on my bike. We were lucky - our house did not suffer damage (paying for a better grade of vinyl siding just paid off). One neighbor has vinyl and now has holes in their siding. Those with aluminium siding now have dimpled siding that looks like someone took a hammer to it. Steel siding faired better but still shows some denting. The roofing and siding industry will do very well in our neighborhood. If any of you were in the tornado sticken areas, I feel for you. Severe weather is never fun. |

We have been in the 60's mostly and so far it has been the rainiest June in a long time that I can remember (but we do need the rain really bad).
But, it seems like we have that roller coaster weather because we were in the high 80's not too long ago and now in the 60's and who knows what it will be like next week ::) Speaking of those storms, I thought of you when I heard Minnesota was getting nasty weather. Jerry |

Yes, the nasty weather has hit us several times. The tornado that hit Hugo was not that far from me. I've survived a tornado once - I don't care to live thru that again.

Minnesota can be humid (and would be if the temps ever returned to normal).
I will be in Missouri for my week long bike ride this month. I must start checking the weather so I can be prepared! |

Robin, it will probably be very hot for your trip to the trail. It always is by mid-June. We've had some heavy rain so maybe we should check to make sure everything is open. Some parts of the trail between Treloar and Herman flood.

We'll be riding from St. Charles to Clinton over 5 days. The ride is organized by the DNR. They use trucks to carry our tents and gear to each overnight town. Here is the link to information about the ride.. Sir Rat, I am a bit concerned about the weather and trail conditions. We did receive information regarding how they would handle the parts that might flood. We will get updates each day regarding the trail conditions. We've not had any warm weather up here. Usually we are much warmer by now, so I've not conditioned myself to heat and humidity at all. On the other hand, I've gotten in more bike miles this year than usual, so hopefully that will help. One week before the trip!!! |
