Which movies are your favorite "hair flicks"?  I remember when I was a kid and saw Zeffirelli's "Romeo and Juliet" I absolutely fell in love with Olivia Hussey's hair and I still think she is one of the most beautiful women to have ever walked the face of the earth (whatever happened to her, anyway?).  

The much more recent "Anna and the King" had Jody Foster sporting some killer hairstyles that you know she has only dreamed of in real life... and there's a mistake in the film where her hair is different in two parts of the same scene, though I'm probably the only person on earth who noticed *that* :P

The musical version of the movie, "The King and I" had Deborah Kerr sporting some pretty updos, too.

Then of course there's "Interview with a Vampire" in which Brad Pitt and Antonio Banderas have never looked better ;)

And how could you possibly ignore Wind in His Hair in "Dances with Wolves"?  Gorgeous!

I'm sure I'm missing tons... anyone have any other favs?

Nicole Kidman in Moulin Rouge gets my vote.

Does anybody like "Sex and the City"? Sarah Jessica Parker sometimes wears really pretty updos, classical knots and buns which look very simple but I never can get the same effect trying to do it by myself  ???
I am also a fan of the looks of Nell Porter, the blonde lawyer in "Ally McBeal" (don´t know her real name).
All historical movies are great for elaborate hairstyles but who can wear it in real life? Therefore I like this modern styles.

Speaking of "Charmed" (my favorite show  :P!) Holly Marie Combs (Piper) has the most gorgeous long hair! It must be nearing waist length now!

Brahm Stokers "Dracula"  the old count as he floats down stairs has an incredable do and pony tail...I keep trying to duplicate but I haven't quite figured it out yet.

"Gone With the Wind" also has some great styles on Vivian Leigh and Olivia Dehavalind (sp?).

What about the princess in Shrek....she has pretty hair too :).  That opens up another whole can of worms...animated hair.

Back on the origional Star Trek there was a female ensign that had an up do that was woven in a basket weave in the front only...I still think that is cool.

So many movies and TV shows and so many styles to admire...to bad most of them involve wigs and hair pieces and too much pain to try to duplicate in "real life".
What are we to do! : 8)

Those funny "honey buns" over her ears :).  I had to wear my hair like that for a fashion show and I can tell you from experience...that style is not comfortable and it plays with your hearing too...

Since I'm named after her, I had to do Princess Leia a few times. This was when I was younger so I couldn't really do the buns myself, but I got them done and could hardly hold my head up haha! Princess Leia is very famous for this style.

I like the red-headed daughter's hair in "Grounded for Life" and I get lots of styles ideas from her!

I had recently looked to Tyne Daly of the Judging Amy show as a role model for an older woman with long hair (and not colored either).  I was saddened by the recent episode where her fiance died (as the actor had died) and she cut her hair to a short bob.  The short style is "cute", but I REALLY liked her long hair, especially when she wore it in braids.

I know what you mean about Tyne Daly's hair. It was fab. I cried when she cut it. I loved the way she wore it. I would love to get my hands on some of her clips etc.

As far as great movie hair, Helena Bonham Carter in A Room with a View. Any period films like Sense and Sensibility, Wings of a Dove, Much, oh my gosh..Braveheart! Both Mel and his loves!  I sometimes just watch my collection of those types of videos just for ideas. It is nice to see older women in these films also have lovely styles. Even though they probably helped with hair pieces, they have great accessories. I love accessories. When I decided not to cut my hair ever again, except for bi-yearly trims to keep it healthy, I gave my self permission to spend money on pretty, good quality accessories. I love that photo of Melissa Milano with the updo and flower. I should use more flowers!

Ah yes... Glenn Close in Hamlet!  That huge wonderful braid.  And Angela Lansbury in Samson and Delilah... she had a wonderful long red braid in that one.

And remember Meg Ryan's hair in Sleepless in Seattle. I love her hair in that.

I also liked the casual long hair looks for Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock in Practical Magic as well as the "Aunts" hair. I just loved their hair. I would love my hair to be that long! I am already working on the temple area grey streak!

I know, I love my gray! It really irks me when I do go get a trim, all they can say is what pretty hair, you should get rid of the gray, >:( My almost 17 y/o son says "it rocks, Mom". He also has long  hair, almost as long as mine. His hair is so fabulous.

What do you think about the beautiful locks in Lord of the Rings. Both men and women's hair. I love it. I am working on a couple of different looks for my son's hair. Like that Legolas fishtail braid. Hmmm.

It's been so long since I've seen the movie Camelot I can't remember much about Lynn Redgrave's hair.  My most recent experience with the story was walking out on the stage production several years ago with Robert Goulet playing Arthur.  It was *horrendous.*  Only the second play I ever walked out on, the first was Richard Dreyfus in "Total Abandon."  The critics said "Total Abandon should be totally abandoned."  They were much too kind.

However, for some reason discussing Camelot made me think of Helena Bonham Carter.  Doesn't she have the most wonderful hair in just about everything in which she appears?

And on a completely different note, do those two blonde chicks who appear and sing in the commercial for some blonde product (somebody help me out here) have the most horrible hair you've ever seen?  I'm all for trendy hairstyles, but not only do I think the girls are, err... unremarkable, but their hair is really bad.  I think the person who hired them to sell hair products deserves to be fired, LOL!

The blonde chicks' hair is obviously fried, and I prefer long hair, but if you're not going to grow it a funky fakey style is ok. They're pretty hot, too.

I could go on and on about celebrity dos!!  My favorites come from witch and renassance (SP???) shows.  I really like Charmed dos, except Alissa Milano's really short styles  :o

My all time fav is Interview... That's when I fell in love with Brad Pitt's hair!!!

I've been tortured by long hair lust ever since I started watching the "Lord Of The Rings" movies.  Between Arwen, Legolas, Eowyn, Galadriel and Haldir, I've been wanting to grow my hair out long.  Sigh...  I have to say though that Gandalf needed a trim-  Or a good brush!    ;D

Does anyone remember the t.v. show called Step by Step?  The girl named Karen had gorgeous long hair for most of the series.  Eventually she got it cut.  And- "Topenga" in the t.v. show "Boy meets world." Eventually she got it cut too.   :-[

Her hair is not that long but I like doing different things with my hair instead of the same old things all the time. Did anyone mention Page from the show "Ellen" when it was still on?  She always had the most beautiful hap-hazard curls that looked perfect pulled up or just left down.  But my absolute favorite head of hair belongs to Julie Strain (my husbands a big fan, and i don't think it's her hair... :-/), it's all her real hair, too.  She said she adds hair pieces for thickness sometimes, though.  Hair to die for, no doubt! *jealous!* ;)

My favorite is the character Buttercup in The Princess Bride.  That long, flowing, soft-looking blond hair...  I especially love the style she has when she's walking through the palace all angry, and Humperdinck locks her up.  It looks like a ton of knots piled up on the front half, and the back is down loose.  hairpieces galore...

So many Princess Bride fans here:) It's one of my favorite movies as well and I pretty much know it by heart, the book too. I just love the gowns and hairstyles Buttercup wears around the castle and for the "wedding" scene.

Jane Seymour is the inspiration for my hair today.  I have been in love with her hair since I was a little girl.  

I read in a magazine that Kiera Knightley cut her hair.  It had a picture with it, and I realize I'm biased, but she looked so much better w/ long hair.   :'(

The Phantom of the Opera has some lovely updos.  Even though Christine's hair probably is a wig of some sort.

Princess Bride is one of my favorites!  Maybe I'll watch the DVD today.

In Phantom, I liked the older lady's hair.  She had some braids or ropes going on there - I couldn't reverse engineer the styles.  :(  Christine supposedly had extensions.  There is a pic somewhere where she has her hair pulled back, and you can see them in her hairline.  Nevertheless, still pretty!

Along the lines of fantasy movies, I loved Drew Barrymore's hair in Ever After.  AND her dresses.  :D

According to IMDB that's her only movie. Her name is Ernestine Mazurowna and she did Jean de florrette in '86 so she's probably grown up a little since then.  I also liked the actress in Manon des sources when her hair is a little tamed

i would have to say my fav is Practical Magic with Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock thier hair was sooooo gorgeous and long. i loved the layers Nicole had.

The Princess bride, oddly enough Tomb raider, and DEFINATELY Phantom of the Opera... I've been a huge POTO nut since waaayyy before the movie..... I think I was 11 or 12 when Mom got the soundtrack of the original stage play... *young K. hears CD... Young K. 'confiscates' CD, does not return for months* I absolutely love Madame Giry's hair... there's one scene where it's in a braid down her back, as she's looking in a mirror, and then starts playing with it.... I want that hair.... Must have been at least tailbone loose......

Although, since it was set in paris... the fact that she was the ONLY character with a french accent was a little unsettling... They should have gone for all or none, you know?

The actress who played Isolde in "Tristan and Isolde"

Didn't care for the movie all that much, but her hair was very beautiful and I love the concept of hair parted in the middle in front, then pulled half-up parted behind the ears.  Very nice.

Oh, and her wedding dress?  Yes, that's what I want.  Something long and sleek with loose sleeves and a hood-like veil.

From my list, I would say Kickboxer is my favorite of favorites.

Not sure if this was mentioned but I loved Julia Stiles long curls in 10 Things I Hate About You. That is exactly what I want, minus the blond thing.

Lord of the Rings is my favorite series of books and I don't like the movies much (they changed the plot around a lot) but I watch them just for the hair and costumes.  For any other LOTR book geeks in the ether- there is this amazing bit in the Lay of Leithain where Luthien puts a spell on her hair to grow it out so she can escape from Hirilorn-it's amazing.  I'll post it on here some time.
