Title: TV show celebs with long hair
Post by bikerbraid on May 7th, 2003 at 11:20am
Some friends and I were talking about TV shows with young actresses with long hair - some of them from a long time ago (showing my age).
Danielle Fishel - Topanga in Boy Meets World
Valerie Bertinelli - One Day at a Time
Connie Newton - Elizabeth in 8 is Enough
Candace Cameron  - Full House
Danica McKellar - Wonder Years
Maureen Mccormick - The Brady Bunch
Eve Plumb - The Brady Bunch
Karle Warren - Lauren on Judging Amy

Who have I left out?

Marlo Thomas, Ann Marie in That Girl
Susan Day, Lori Partridge in the Partridge Family
David Cassidy, Keith Partridge in the Partridge Family

McKellar had gorgeous hair, didn't she?  I wonder if she still has it.

Danica McKellar (Winnie on Wonder Years) did a few episodes of West Wing.  Her hair appears to be a bit longer than shoulder length.  Still very pretty.

The ony one I know from there is Candace Cameron from Full House. She did have quite long hair - it was to her hips I think. However her hair was quite dried out and not taken very good care of, wasn't it?

I couldn't really say what the condition of her hair was other than it was very thick and long.

What was that girls name with long blonde hair that played on "Escape to Witch Moutain"? I liked her hair as well as the movie.
:D

Cher in the Sonny and Cher Show.  Now that is old!
Crystal Gayle on Johnny Carson.  I remember the time her hair got tangled in the beading at the bottom of her gown, and Johnny got down on his knees to untangle it.

I only watch Ghost Whisperer and CSI:NY.  It's not even a religious thing.  I don't die or even cry if I miss an episode.  The one side-kick actress in the antiques shop, on Ghost Whisperer has long hair, it doesn't look layered to me.  I'm shocked "they" let her get away with something so untrendy. ;)  I think it's great though. :)  The main character actress has long hair too but that's more the norm than the exception when the lead is played by a young, "attractive", lady.

I've noticed recently that even though short hair is 'in,' very few TV and Hollywood actresses actually have hair shorter than APL, especially if they're younger than mid-forties.

I'm happy for anyone who wants short hair for themselves or whatever tortured style may please them.  I just mind the power the media has on the influence of what is considered acceptable and what norms "ordinary" women should aspire to.  Once we all had to have poker straight hair, now we have to have bouncy curly/waves that start at a certain point and for all things in the world avoid curtain hair. ::)  Some women actually buy into these hidden messages, conform to them and try to make other women conform.

Okay, my little rant is over.

Yes, I remember when straight hair was "in" and I hated my curly/wavy hair and slept in large rollers every nite, to straighten it.  I hereby apologize to my poor hair and scalp for torturing it.
