I know a girl with curly black hair which used to be down to her waist, all one length. Then she got it layered, with the smallest layer at her chin and the longest layer at the bottom so it was a long v-shape, which didn't really look that good  ::). But yesterday, she got her hair cut in a bob! And it really looks nice on her, she never looked attractive but now she does! She looks absolutely fabulous... I guess what I'm trying to say is long hair doesn't really work for everyone. It depends on the type of face and the type of hair. She's really petite, so the hair kind of weighed her down, but this looks stunning on her.
