Title: Butterfleye
Post by Butterfleye on Jun 1st, 2004 at 7:41pm
Hi, I'm Butterfleye, I'm 26 years old and I live in the South-West of England.
I have almost waist-length hair, which I used to consider long until I started looking around this site!, my hair is blonde, it used to be really light but has gotten darker over the last 5 or 6 years which I don't like, I'm trying the chamomile thing but can't see much change yet, how long does it take?.
It's not in too bad a condition I suppose, but it just seems to hang there!, I brush it and it shines a bit but two minutes later its all 'rat tail' like again.
I have split ends which drive me crazyyyyyyyy and crunchie ends (I'm going to try the vinegar rinse when I wash my hair in a few minutes, so fingers crossed that helps).
I found this site because I was looking for ways to put my hair up, I'm afraid I've been guilty of just doing the ponytail or plait thing for a long time, which I now hope to change, in fact lately I've been wondering if the only way I would ever get great looking, shiny hair would be if I went for a very short cut!, though I know I wouldn't have gone through with it I like long hair to much, just wish it looked nicer.

Well I'm off to wash my hair.

  Kind regards,

  Butterfleye.  :D

NO! NO! NO!  A short cut will NOT necessarily give you shiney, healthy hair!   :o  In fact some of the worst looking hair I've seen has been over-processed, over-styled short hair.

As your hair gets longer, we find that we sometimes need to adjust our routines for our hair.  Keep in mind how old the tips of your longest hair is if you average 1/2" of growth a month.  If you haven't already, be sure to check out the Ultimate Guide to Growing Long Hair under the Site Features.  There are lots of great ideas/suggestions.

Let us know how the vinegar rinse does on you hair!

Wow,
I tried the vinegar rinse and my hair feels amazing, no more crunchy ends, yay!.
How often do you recommend doing the viegar rinse, is it something that should be done everytime I wash my hair or just once a week?.
I also tried adding a few drops of sweet almond oil to my shampoo when I washed my hair, the first time my hair felt really soft but looked greasy, I think I added too much, but the second time I added less and it was fine, how often should I do this, every wash or once a week?.

Oh and don't worry I'm not cutting my hair, I never would I was just in one of those hair ruts, you know not getting what I wanted from it or actually doing anything with it, but that's just a matter of changing my haircare regime (which I've started) and practicing all the great new hairstyles, updos e.c.t... that I have now found.
Plus I'm trying to see how long I can grow my hair, so I can't go chopping it now and anyway I freak out if any one comes close to my hair with a pair of scissors, the only person I trust to trim it is my Mum and thats because she knows how I feel about it staying long.

Glad you had such great success with the vinegar rinse!  :D

You can do the rinse as often as you feel you need.  If you use products with silicone type ingredients, I would recommend using the vinegar rinse frequently.  If you stick with more natural products, you may not need to use it any more than once a month.  There is no perfect formula that works for everyone.

Same goes for adding the oil to your shampoo.  You may need to experiment a bit to find what will work best for you.

When I get frustrated with my hair, I just put it in a bun and ignore it for a few days.  That usually takes care of it for me!
