Title: Formula Latina by  Joss Claude Products
Post by bikerbraid on Jun 10th, 2004 at 1:16pm
I just read an announcement for a new hair care product line, Formula Latina by  Joss Claude Products, designed specifically for Latino type hair.  It is supposed to reduce frizz and increase shine.  They claim to use gentle, natural ingredients.

Their web site is offering free samples.  Although I ordered the samples (so I can get a complete list of the ingredients), I know I don't have the hair type that these products are aimed at.  I'd love to hear from some of you what you think of the products.

[I edited the subject line for this thread so we could find it again!]

WOW  :o this stuff sounds great, the ingredients that they show look really good.  Their add says they sell the s/c in grocery and drug stores but not in my area, I guess thats good it gives me time to save up to spend more money on s/c  ;D.  When you get your samples and try them give us an update, I would really like to know if it worked and if you liked them.  What did you get for samples, I hope the shampoo and conditioner.
One more thing lets us know how it smells, I love s/c that smell nice.  Thank you bikerbraid for the 411!

I just went back to thier web site and also signed up for free samples, I will also let you know how it worked for me.  I see they give you moist shampoo and moist conditioner thats a plus for me, I also asked if they would be selling thier products where I live.  Thanks again for letting us know.

I just got my box of "samples"!  They are FULL SIZE bottles!!!!  I had biked to work and back today, so I needed a shower and shampoo.

I tried the shampoo and conditioner (both for long hair).  The shampoo had a fruity smell (not overwhelming).  The conditioner was very thick, little fragrance.  Both seemed to work well (at least in the shower).  The shampoo seemed to leave my hair tangle free and "slick", although not as slick as products with -cones.  I didn't use very much of the conditioner, but again, my hair was tangle free.

I'll let you know how well I like it after my hair is dry - probably tomorrow.

The ingredients showed no -cones except in the frizz control serum.

My samples did not come yet  :'(.  I like the idea it smells fruity, are there any cones in the conditioner?  From reading your post I take it thier are none.  I will still give it a try and also let you know how my hair turnes out,  I can't believe they give full size bottles out for samples  :o.

I've used it 2 days in a row.  (The only time I shampoo that often is when I am biking in hot weather, which I have done for the past few days).

My hair is very shiny and tangle-less.  It is soft to the touch.  These are all good things.  I have not used the anti-frizz serum (my hair does not like -cones).  My hair is not frizzy, but it does seem a bit more fly-away than with my regular products. Maybe with a light oiling, it would be less so.

At this point, I would give good marks to the shampoo and conditioner.  I'd love to hear if any curly hair people try this out and how they like it.

My samples came yesterday, they are the small try me size packets.  I'm gonna try it this morning for my co wash, the shampoo I will give to my sister.  I will let you know how it turns out tonight.

I'm so sorry you didn't get the full size samples.  Did you get the Moisturizing line or the Long Hair line?  I received little samples of the moisturizing and full size bottles of the Long Hair.

Let us know what you think of your samples!

They sent me the moisturizing line, I wish it would have been the long hair line.  I did my co washing this morning and really liked the way the conditioner made my hair feel, it was easy to detangle and my hair felt really soft when it finally dried.  I really would like to try the long hair line, I hope thier products come to where I live.  I give the conditioner a thumbs up the shampoo I can't rate ( gave up shampoo ), but will ask my sister how she liked it.

Maybe you can request another sample for the Long Hair line?

I guess it could not hurt to ask for a sample for the long hair line, the worst they could say is no.  But really, I would like to try it.  I'll let you know if they send it to me and if it is a full size bottle.

Update on my experiences with Formula Latina.  My hair seems to really like this new product line.  I have NEVER had hair so shiny.  :D  The conditioner works great at detangling and I've even been using a bit as a leave-in with good results.

The marketing person has explained to me that they are only sending out the single use foil samples.  I happened to be a lucky one to get full size bottles.  So I will try to "repay" them by giving my extended use experience.

I also wanted to share one of the emails they sent me.

Quote:
Hi Robin,

Thanks for you enthusiastic response.  I'm happy to hear the products are performing well for
you.

I wanted to clarify that even though Formula Latina was designed to meet the needs of Latina
women, it is suitable for all types of hair (straight, frizzy, curly, long, damaged, color
treated, etc.).  Latinas are very diverse and so is their hair, which is why we made it work for
so many different hair types.  If you happen to have hair that falls into one of these
categories - and you're not Latina - Formula Latina will still work for you.

Because so many Latinas wear their hair long and/or color treat it, we also made sure to include
products formulated for long hair and color treated hair in our line.  If you have long or color
treated hair, but are not Latina, Formula Latina will still work for you.

That's probably more background than you need, but I don't want to discourage non-Latina
LongLocks members from using Formula Latina - especially since you are getting such great
results.

You're right, we're not yet available in Minnesota, but we're working on it.  Until then, you'll
have to purchase Formula Latina products online at our website:
www.jossclaudeproducts.com/purchase.htm

Thanks again for your interest in Formula Latina. Should you have any questions or require
additional information, please do not hesitate to drop me a line.

Thanks,
Marisa A. Villalobos,
Director of Marketing
