Title: FAVORITE DEEP CONDITIONING/STRAIGHT HAIR?
Post by strawberryfine on Aug 11th, 2004 at 5:52pm
Hi Everyone,

I was wondering what your favorite deep conditioning treatments are and also if you use leave in products and hairspray on your straight hair?

My hair is mostly straight but it will scrunch up with a lot of products, which I don't like to use so- I am thinking of dropping the curly girl routine but keeping the CO washes and let it hang straight as it will.

I'd love to hear others hair care/styling routines!

I use just a bit of whatever conditioner I am using at the time as a leave-in conditioner.  This helps with detangling and minimizes some of the flyaways I get with my fine hair.  I usually just let my hair air dry, but will put it in a damp bun if I have to go out when my hair is still damp.

Thanks bikerbraid!  Maybe I'm trying to make this more compicated than it needs to be.

I like that, too. It's really helped my hair.

Bikerbraid, how much conditioner do you use as a leave-in? How do you apply it? I'm worried about using too much.

I don't use very much.  First I try to get as much water out of my hair as possible, but I don't towel dry.  I then work a small amount of conditioner through my hair starting with the ends and working up to the neck.

I don't have a real thick pony tail, my hair is to my hips.  I use about a tablespoon of conditioner.

Hope this helps.

Well,my favourite conditioner for either deep-conditioning or regular cond. is Matrix Biolage Conditioning Balm.I use it most of the time but I do give other conditioners a try ;)
L'oreal Kerastase Soleil is also a good brand for a deep conditioner-very moisturizing.
These are the silicone-free ones, good conditioners with cones are Aussie Moist or John Frieda Beach Blonde.

At the moment I use no leave-ins,but I liked the Beauty without Cruelty leave-in a lot in the past. I never use hairspray/gel/mousse. :)

Anne-Marie,
I've been using the Biolage Conditioning Balm regularly for a while now and it is still the best thing I've ever found for my hair.  I even use a tiny dab as a leave-in and it is not too heavy.  And it smells so good.

I've got to go back and reread the posts here and see if I can find a second conditioner that I can rotate.

It's nice to have you back.

styg,
I've had trouble finding the L'Oreal Kerastase Soleil Conditioner online.  Not sure why... ???

But you are right, some of their other conditioners do have cones.

I have XZ deep conditioner, and that seems to be OK, but when I really want to pamper my hair, I soak it in jojoba oil-rosemary EO mix.
That does wonders to my hair.

I like using Bone Marrow conditioner from Sally's Beauty Supply. Or Vo5 hot oil strenghtning. Sometimes I dye it clear. I get it at Sally's, it's clear shine. It makes your hair feel really smooth for about a month till it washes out. And I swear the best product I've ever used (for me, I have thin straight hair) is WELLA. The reconstructive leave in Liquid Hair is awesome. But for a regular conditioner I like using Panteene, just on the ends. Even though they say it's bad, it makes my hair comb out easlily. I've bought the expensive stuff at salons and it makes it matted and hard to brush so I don't use it.

Does anybody here use the monoi de tahiti oil? I use maybe a quarter tsp on my whole head and wear it to bed or for just a few hours before a shampoo..makes it very soft and silky, easy to comb out and it calms down the frizzies.Seems like I read about this product on this site a long time ago but haven't heard of it since.

My favourite deep conditioning treatment would have to be...any of the ones made by Pantene! My hair is terribly fine and thin and is dependent upon cones, so Pantene + my hair is a match made in heaven. I've tried everything from mayonnaise to heavy oiling to Snowy's Deep Moisture Treatments...you name it. But none of them hold a candle to any Pantene treatment that I've tried. My current faves are the Deep Fortifying Treatment and Restoratives Time Renewal Replenishing Mask.

Former favourites have been the Intensive Restoration Treatment and Intensive Replenishing Mask from the Daily Moisture Renewal line.

I don't have one, I've only just begun to deep condition this year so I'm still in the testing phase.  Like some others with Oriental/Asian/Mongolid type hair I've found that natural oils just don't work that well on their own so I sadly have to find a good silicone based one and occasionally coat with natural oil such as 1-2 drops of olive oil over it and deep cleanse hair every other week or so.  My hair's poker straight, coarse, the strands are individually thick but it's sparse too.  My hair grows out and up from my scalp so when they fall out naturally and new hairs grow out, then I've got all these stupid little hairs sticking up here and there.

I have that Schwartzkopf Gliss 1 minute but I don't think it does much for my hair other than what a normal conditioner should do and they do nothing for my hair :( and I have Garnier's olive and lemon deep conditioner but I need to use it at least 3 times a week for a result that lasts more than one day.

pantene deep fortifying!  leaving it overnight is the best thing for my hair.
safflower oil makes my hair super soft and supple, but it's really hard to get out.  i usually only use it when my husbands in the field or i have nowhere to go for a few days because it makes my hair look so greasy.  but when it finally does come out, it's amazing.
has anyone tried the new sunsilk line?  i got the samples of the hydrating line and the leave-in stuff really made my hair soft and shiny.  fyi, don't use it with oil when your hair's wet, it did not absorb at all and my hair was stiff and wet looking til i washed it out.

My favorite deep conditioning treatment is Cholesterol and hot oil treatments.  Also, these days my ultimate favorite deep conditioning treatment is Clairol Nice N' Easy Conditioning ColorSeal.  It really work my hair wonders!!!  I only have to use it once a week like the directions say on the tube.  My other deep conditioning treatment is I soak my hair in jojoba oil mixed with daily conditioner....and daily conditioner that is available on the market.  My hair can take any daily conditioner accept for Suave.  I can use anything but Suave products on my hair.  What I with thte jojoba oil and daily conditioner mix is I spray it on my hair the day before I wash. I let it set in the night before then the next evening I wash and condition my hair.  Afterwards my hair is left so very nice, shiny, and healthy looking and feeling!!!
