Title: September 2004 Measurements
Post by Cairn on Sep 1st, 2004 at 11:07pm
Well, I was so excited when I woke up this morning and realized it's a new month and I get to measure my hair again, but now I see no one else has started a thread yet, so I'm taking the liberty.  ;)

I am currently at 33 1/8 inches. Not a whole lot of growth since August, but I measured late last month so it really hasn't been that long.

I'm so short compared to you!

19.25", that's a 0.75" growth, i believe! :D i hope this'll continue! :P

Well.

I didn't measure my hair last month. My stepmom did, and she reported to me that it was 3 inches at the moment (the DAY after the brutal hacking off of the perm).

If she was accurate, then my hair just grew an inch in less than a month.

I just measured it and it's 4 inches all around.

If my hair really grew that much that quickly...then...yay!!! Awesome!!! I always knew my hair grew pretty fast, but...wow.

This makes me extremely happy. I KNEW I was having to brush bangs out of my eyes. Not just my imagination!

Way to grow, Ella and MoonlitRose! Cairn, your hair is so long - do you have any specific goals?

I had almost no growth last month so I've hidden the tape measure from myself. No measuring until October 1!

Thanks. :) It doesn't feel that long - I think I might have a long abdomen or something, because I've read posts from other people with shorter hair that reaches farther down their backs. Mine is just past my waist.

I've always wanted to be able to sit on my hair, so I guess that's my goal at the moment. I'd also like to find my terminal length, but for the sake of practicality I think classic length is where I'd like to keep it in the long run.

Not much growth from my 20 inches registered in August, only a 1/4 of an inch.

LOL!  That's how I handle slow growth too.  Just ignore that tape measure and be surprised when you do finally measure!

I'm not measuring this month either.. usually I get about an inch per month but this one's a little slow. Summer's when I do half of my growing for the year, and the rest of the year is a ... banana slug. (Three inches for all the months between August and June... that's only 1/3 inch a month) Yup, I'll probably measure every three.

33" even. Not much growth at all!

My hair seems to have *lengthened* ¼" at the most, while I've got ½" of roots since I last touched up on the 9th.

This is exactly what I observed last time I trimmed. It seems like the inch between 33" and 34" appears very slowly, even though the roots are growing as normal. It must be somehow the length takes up wave?

It looks like I have about ½" to go before I make up my last trim on the 27th of August, so I'm right on track. And the hair looks lots longer, though as course not as long as before. My goal is to have nice, thick ends, but I don't want to trim again til I get way past this point. A 1¼" inch trim was way too traumatic. :'(

Am I rationalizing?

Maybe the roots that grew in were thickening up your existing hair rather than adding to the length? They might, after all, be shorter than your longest lengths. I'm not sure, though, I've never had different colored roots!

Probably because you don't dye your hair red, Leia. :D

Ooh, I would love to, but that wouldn't look very nice with my skin tone!

I just happened to have a tape measure sitting here from measuring the socks I've been knitting AND have my hair down.  I guess I have no excuse for not measuring.

40" :o

Not quite 1/2" a month, but at least it is still growing!

Wow BB, that's an awesome length! (You must also be really tall) So how long ago was your last measure?

Title: Re: September 2004 Measurements

TALL???!!!!  :o

I've NEVER been referred to as tall.  If I stand real straight (hard to do with a fused spine), I am 5'3".  I last measured in April.  My last trim was April 2003.

eKatherine - I also experience fast growing roots, but slow growing ends.  In the summer, my hair lightens quite easily.  As fall/winter arrives, my darker hair continues to grow in, but yet there does not seem to be any additional length.  I've decided that it only LOOKS like a lot of growth on the roots.  When the hair lays on the head, what seems to be an inch of roots, may really only be 1/2" of growth.  The hair blends together and gives the appearance of more growth.

Great results everyone! :) :)
I just had a small trim to even out the ends (I had quite a number of splits after spending a week at the very windy North Sea) - and I am at 46 '' now. So it still *is* growing after all.
