Title: ficcares/fine hair?
Post by strawberryfine on Sep 10th, 2004 at 4:15pm
???
Hi All,

I've never seen a Ficcare clip but am wondering if the metal or teeth would be hard on fine hair?

If not, what size would you get for fine, normal thickness hair?

TIA,
strawberryfine

Scünci makes ficcare-shaped clips. Why don't you buy one or two in each size and try them out before shelling out the big $$$?

Anais-
Yep-
Don't even know what I ordered but I gotta have one!
I did look locally yesterday for a scunci version with no luck- but I live in a university city and  I think back-to-school has wiped out everything!

I still appreciate the info tho! ;D

Anais, if you don't mind my asking, what is your hair type, length, etc.? We seem to post in some of the same places! 8)

Sorry to ask such a silly question...but, what's a Ficcare?

It's not a silly question!  Ficcare is a brand name.  What is being referred to specifically is their hair clip.  They are known for being very hair friendly and strong.  Here's an example:

Ah right, ok. I should keep an eye out for these. I'm always having a difficult time finding good clippies. I've always wanted to try those beak type clippies but have been afraid for the same reasons that strawberryfine mentioned....that the teeth or grips would be hard on fine hair.

Does anyone use or recommend those beak type clippies?

8) Hey Anais,
You're right, we don't have the same hair type but I tend to post everywhere too-lol!
I wish I did have your hair type- it sounds gorgeous!

Rua, I have ordered a Ficcare and will probably sand any sharp parts with auto sandpaper and then coat with clear nail polish or aquarium epoxy.  I'll let you know what I think about it once it has arrived.
I think you and I may have similar hair types- 1cFii-red, shoulder length, fine and flies a lot! Welcome!

Hi Strawberryfine, thank you for your hair compliment!  And do give us feed back when you receive your Ficcare ;)

Well, I've had my Ficcare for about a week or so--first though, I ordered a Large maximus and it was too big so I found someone who swapped me their medium and it is just right.  I don't think I'll ever have enough hair for a Large.

My hair is really just barely long enough to "bun" with this clip, but it is very comfortable, doesn't slide at all and the distribution of pull on the hair by the clip is very uniform.

When I had the wrong size I was a little underwhelmed by Ficcare.

Now I want a jade one and a jean one.  I don't really think anyone would be unhappy with one.

Glad you found the size that works for you.  I'm afraid to get one - I might find that I "need" one of every style and that would get a bit pricey!  ;D

...So how exactly is this clip used, for what styles?  I am not familiar w/ these, but am now interested...

Where can you order Ficcare clips? Their web site consisted of one image.

Ficarre does not make it easy to order from them directly.  I believe Nordstroms carries them in their accessories department.  A google search will probably bring up some websites that sell them as well.
