Title: New salon to add
Post by hsclev on Sep 14th, 2004 at 2:32pm
This is a great site.  I own the George Michael salon in Beverly Hills.  Please check out my website at www.georgemichael-longhair.com.  I hope to make many new friends here and kudos to the adminstrator of this site - great job.

Edited to make the address a direct link

Do you sell the George Michael Products online ?  I couldn't find them on your website.

I am really interested in purchasing the Protein Treatment.  :)

We are only allowed to sell products in conjuction with our salon treatments.  We have no "in-home" system.  It is a system that works to maximize the health of your hair.   Dr. George Michael is famous for his long hair systme with 2000 salons in Europe.

Welcome!  I've heard good things about the George Michael methods and I believe your salon.  Glad to have you here!

By chance do you know of the location of other GM salons (for those of us who are not in your area)?

There are only a few unfortunately.  THe cities are New York, Atlantic City, Plano, Texas, San Diego, Columbus Ohio, Atlanta, GA, and of course Dr. Michael in West Palm Beach.   There are other small locations but these are the main ones.  Hopefully the system will expand in the US one day.  If anyone wants information on this, I would be happy to provide it.

I want a GM salon in Minnesota!!!!

For the benefit of those who are not familiar with the GM philosophies, could you share them with us?  (But be gentle, some of us may never have the opportunity to benefit from a GM treatment  ;) )

I would love to know how the idea for the GM salon and products came about. I've also been wondering, what is the GM philosophy on men with long hair?

I've read the GM philosphy on bangs/fringe so I've
been trying to grow mine out, to see if there is a difference.  My hair buddy says when she grew hers out
her thin front hairline went away/came in thicker.  One
Problem I Look TERRIBLE without bangs/fringe.(Round,
full face.) If I visit a GM salon some day they can show
me how to tyle my hair without them.

Of course but bangs are not part of our system,  You will have straight, healthy, full, silky, no-frizzy (all the way down the ends), drop dead georgeous hair!!  I promise!

Our system works the same with men as with with women.  Hair is really just protein and how you live your live, what you eat, how you take care of your hair, your emotional state, ETC - all this affects your hair - man or woman.

Its too bad there isn't a salon within several hundred
miles of where I live but maybe I'll visit one some day.

hsclev;
Have you ever considered a traveling show?  Bring a long hair specialist around the country to areas that don't have GM salons.  It wouldn't take much advertising to have the stylist booked!  (Question:  Are you trained as well?  Do you work on hair, or is it just your salon and you have the good sense to hire the best?)

I am investor making the money and have a manager that runs it for me.  And our system requires work done at the salon with our dry heat dryers and special treatment.  But if we have enough interest then we might set up something like that.  It would be something we would have to do on a regular basis also.  Let's hope we can have a George Michael long hair salon near you someday!!!

Why not customize an RV with your equipment?  If dentists, doctors, and X-ray, mammogram and CT scan machines can be mobile, why not a hair salon?  (And what a WISE investor you are!  I forgive you for not knowing how to post a picture  ;) )

Does the George Michael system have any tips for growing long, healthy hair that are not already covered in Rapunzel's "Ultimate Guide to Growing Long hair" ?

Please share- I'm all ears  !!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

I love the idea of the traveling show, BB! Good idea!
I would also be willing to travel a distance, too if one
was to open up in the Minnesota-SouthDakota-Iowa
area.  For at least on visit.
HSCLV,not to deluge you with questions, but does
GM have a philosphy on coloring hair?  Do they recommend/not recommend doing it if you want long hair?

Does any one live in the WV,MD,VA Area that knows of a good salon for long hair?

I live in WV, and go to a great salon. I don't think there are any salons in WV (at least in the Charleston-Huntington area) that focus on long hair. It is called Affinity and it is in Teays Valley, WV (If you don't know where Teays Valley is I can give you directions). It is not a long hair salon, but the stylists are very good and are willing to work on whatever you want to do with your hair. You just may have to tell them if, for example, you're growing your hair out and would prefer to avoid -cones. I would recommend either Nancy or Jenny. Nancy may not be the right choice (thought she is probably the most knowledgable) if you are growing you hair out. She prefers stylized, modern hair, but she might just suggest a style or way of fixing your hair that you love. Jenny is a better choice if you want someone who is really nice and will go along with whatever you want to do while giving you advice.
One last thing, Sometimes it takes going a time or two for them to accept you as a consistant customer. They are all very nice, but I would suggest not being overly picking about small stuff (like shampoo ingredients) until you have been there several times. You have to remember that the people who constantly color or cut their hair bring in more income that someone growing out there hair that only needs a trim. But, on the other side, I've been there so long that no one cares that I'm not dying and cutting it every week like I used to.
Like most things, I suggest giving it a try and deciding if you like it.
Hope that helps.  ;D
Mert
