;D ;D ;D I'm not measuring until Inauguration Day!!! But I wanted to jump on the opportunity to start one of these measure up threads anyway. I do plan for a trim later on this afternoon when I've got some time... then that will take me a tad shorter than waist length. But no numbers for me! ;D :D ;D :D

Allright!
Then itīs my turn... and the measuring tape says 27cm (10.8 inches). I have a time for hairdresserīs tomorrow and Iīm gonna take 1-2cm off. The ends are so dry, no matter what I do :(. Itīs the cold and dry scandinavian winter I suppose. But Iīll survive and keep growing! |

Nov 10th = 1 year aniverssery I can't wait till the 2 year aniverssery, goodbye awkard stage
The front is about 4 inches, the back is about 8 inches. Not that bad for 11.60 months of growth, it is also very thick and a little wavy so it could be longer. God I love my thick hair, would not cut it for a million bucks. |

*grin*
6 inches. ;D I'm wondering how long this inch a month thing will keep up. The longest layer is all the way down my neck. It's really exciting! Too bad I'm going to need to trim the long layer in a month or two, to start the work of getting these layers to one length. Any advice on how much I should trim off the bottom at a time and how long it will take to get to one length without doing any SERIOUS chopping? Ella |

I would do half an inch a month. Even at my length, it's too traumatic to do any more that that.
But I would also wait until my longest layers are at least shoulder length. YMMV. |

I just measured this morning ......................
24 inches ! :) |

This is the first time I've done this... My mom helped me measure my hair with the "standard" method that ya'll use here in the long hair community ;D(start at the forehead and go over and back to the longest piece), and she said 32 inches. So I guess that's about what it is. Starting a month ago I measured my actual hair length, by parting down the middle (which is how it always is anyways) and measuring a piece that started at the part (does that mean I measured from the crown?). A month ago it was 27 inches and now it's 28 inches! If I was consistent, that's a whole inch of growth! WOW!

Ella!
Last I remember, you were at THREE inches!! My my, you're growing pretty darn fast there and CONGRATS on your SIX ;D ;D ! |

34 1/2 inches. That's one inch in 5 weeks. I still need to trim off the ends though, but hopefully just 1/4 of an inch.

Wow, fantastic growth everyone! I'd better start taking my vitamins again! ;)
I've actually lost the tape measure this month, so looks like I'm waiting until Dec 1. /Kate |

34.2" here! Only 0.2" growth, but I'll take anything I can get! ;D

Lots of good growth going on. Keep eating healthy, take your vitamins and be gentle with your hair - your hair goals can be reached!

I know I'm a few days late, but...
34 1/2 inches! :o (leia, am I actually longer than you?!) That's almost a whole inch of growth since last month! I haven't been paying very close attention to my hair lately so I wasn't expecting much growth, but I guess just letting it do it's own thing worked just as well, if not better. It's to my waist now, and I love how it feels at this length. |

I figured out that I need to start measuring so I can get some proof that I really make some progress.
I don't know what the "standard" way to measure hair is, so I measured it two ways: from forehead hairline and over the head to hairtips at the back it's 53 cm. Length of an average-looking lock from scalp to end is 31 cm. I guess that I'll start using the method that gave me longer result. It's more encouraging. ;D For those who wonder...one inch is about 2.5 cm. |

It looks like you are! When you were last 33", I remember mine being a little shorter too. ;) |
Title: Re: November 2004 Post by Cairn on Nov 12th, 2004 at 4:01am
Hmm...for some reason I always thought yours was so much longer, I guess because yours always looks so much thicker and more beautiful compared to mine.

Title: Re: November 2004 Post by maggie on Nov 18th, 2004 at 7:07pm
What is the correct way of measuring? Going from your part down, or from the front of your head down? ???
|
Title: Re: November 2004 Post by bikerbraid on Nov 18th, 2004 at 7:51pm
The most common method is to start at the hairline at the front, then go over the top of your head down to the longest tip of hair.

Title: Re: November 2004 Post by LB_Williams on Nov 19th, 2004 at 2:33am
Hi all!
By standard measure 14". But if I measure from scalp to end of average section, 5" or so. I just chopped off all my heat and chemical damage on the 6th of this month. |
Title: Re: November 2004 Post by maggie on Nov 19th, 2004 at 4:45pm
Hi LB, nice to have ya!
So exactly how *big* was the big chop? Sometimes it just has to be done, though...I've been there. In fact, my usual pattern is letting my hair grow as long as I can, and then I always get this urge for <<short>> hair, I mean SHORT! Then I hate it, then I grow it, then I hate it, then I chop it, then I hate it, I think you get the cycle! I'm trying to break the cycle this time! I will not cut, I will not cut! |

maybe this time you should go for really LONG hair ;) but i understand, i have 6 year cycles ... as i remember i have cut my hair above shoulders in primary, high school and university (college or whatever you call it). i dunno exactly how you count in the US but all those three school times consist of six years exactly (in my case, college is quite often just 4 years). afterwards i would always let my hair grow back. |

That's the goal - as of now - I am committed this time!!! I am still skeptical that my hair will get any longer than this, I will be *very* shocked if it does, very! But I will keep positive, and keep trying... ;) |
Title: Re: November 2004 Post by legomypago on Nov 24th, 2004 at 2:33am
Yay!!! I measured my hair today after cutting it yesterday and it measured at a little more that 19 inches and before i cut it it was 19 1/2 inches so I actually didn't lose all that much. That makes me feel a lot better about cutting it. And I am very pleased that it is still long enough to braid for bed. ;D
