I started by just cutting my bad ends and I noticed as I was cutting the bad ones off it was only leave a very few long hairs for a small section. At first I thought oh it's ok it will be covered then I kept going to the next section and it just kept getting worse so I cut it. I think I might have cut three inches. I know it will grow back and I keep telling my self it will be a little healthier.

Oh and it took the weight off my curls. My hair is a little curlier now. Trying to be positive....... :-/

And in those shoes, my usual follow up is giving in and going to my hairdresser so she can yell at me and ask me what I've done!  But getting a professional haircut at this point might be a good idea, you'll get your hair shaped into a "shape" you can deal with for a bit, and you'll also have a fresh(er) start to a long, healthy and beautiful mane.  I know this is a painful point in your hair growth, but just keep at it and you'll be where you want to be in no time! ;D

if it can confort you ... i had very deep layers. the last two years i've chopped off at least 22 cm (around 9 inches) and still i gained some length and of course my hair looks a lot thicker now.
