Title: Big, curly hair
Post by eKatherine on Apr 26th, 2005 at 1:45am
I saw a woman today at the school where I was working who had naturally curly hair that was probably 3c. It was about an inch below her shoulders and loose.

OK, it wasn't exactly loose. It took the shape of a giant pyramid. It was as wide at the ends as her shoulders.

She was about 45.

I told her how impressive her hair was, and she laughed, saying that it was amazing she had any at all, considering how she has abused it.

Some people are fortunate to have hair that can take the abuse.   :-/

An annoying thing I've noticed (well, IMO anyway) - curley hair just looks longer even if it's not.  Maybe it's just all that volumn, maybe it's that I know if it were pulled straight it'd be soooo much longer.

I love smooth slick hair but if I had to pick and remain at my current volumn - I'd go for curly, big  :'(.

I recently trimmed (somewhat foolishly, maybe) and I feel like a bratty little kid and in a total snit about the loss of a meesly .5 to 1 inch  ::)...

Feel, sorry for me please and tell me it will grow back and more *waaaaa* ...g

Boy let me tell you, volume is what you get when it's curly. Mine doen't feel long and it's curly (that may be because I can't see it :) )
I like the way straight hair looks, so much longer and neater than curly hair. But I like my hair. I have straighten it in the past (which I won't do again) and don't like the lifelessness I got.

A co-worker of mine has pyramid hair too.  She's really skinny so it looked odd at first, but now I really like it.

Aaww poor Gabi!!  Don't worry you're .5"/1" will be back in no time! *hug*  Heheh I admire your courage - I still haven't made my appt and I'm due for a trim.  My hairdresser got on my case the last time because it had been 6 months since I been in.  Now it's going on 4. :o

My bestfriends Mother has some of the most beautiful curly hair I have ever seen. Large honey colored ringlets...But she uses a hairdryer everyday and when its not curly, its a HUGE mass of dry frizz. Not cute at all. My friend has mentioned this to her...But she absolutely HATES her curls.

Khrome - Do you feel worried to go in to your hairdresser and have her tell you about all your split ends? I used to see my hairdresser religiously...But stopped going because I would always leave feeling bad about how she would go on and on that my hair was in such poor condition. Also she had really bad perception on what an inch was or just didn't give a darn what I said. These days, I trim my own hair!  :-/

That would be my mothers hair if it was all grown out.  She has a mullet going on now, because she likes to have the length to style in braids and twists, but doesn't want the total 'fro and the work it would entail.  She says she'll grow it out when shes old though.  I can't wait to braid it.  I think in 30 years I should know pretty much every braid out there.   ;D

EXACTLY!! Omigosh, someone who understands!! :D  But I decided to suck it up and call for an appt.  tomorrow.  And tell her she can't  cut off more than half of the roots she's going to color, which is about half an inch.  And I'm going to be firm. *puts foot down*

Good for you, Khrome! If only I werent such a baby and scared of having too much cut off, I would love to go have my hair trimmed again. Good luck with your trim and be firm! I am crossing my fingers, hoping one inch is exactly what you get!! :D
