Title: *cries for her hair*...she cut too much off! :(

not groundbreaking news or anything...but it's upset me :(

I decided that, since I'd been putting it off for ages, it was time for a *tiny* trim. I hadn't had it trimmed since December, and the ends were starting to feel a wee bit tatty and dry...so..."just the very ends," I told her. "Just the tiniest bit, just to sharpen the ends up a bit."

She cut like...maybe an inch and a half! maybe two! :( I was gutted...before the trim my hair was a couple of inches below my shoulders, now it's *just* below the shoulderline...*sigh*...Oh well...at least the ends are looking good..it just set me back a couple of months in my quest to grow my hair, that's all... :( I was really liking the way it looked longer, too...

the good news is that I haven't had *any* split ends that I (or my hairdresser) have been able to find, so that's good :)

Sorry you are feeling down about your trim.  :'(

On the up side - your ends are now in good shape! :D

Take care of the ends so that you don't feel you will need to trim again for a long time.  If you feel the ends are getting "crunchy", try doing a vinegar rinse to clarify any product buildup which can make hair feel stiff.

BAD stylist!  BAD BAD stylist!!

I agree with BB...you have to think on the positive side.  Take care of your ends and then you NEVER have to see that stylist again!!   :)

Sorry about what happened :-[  ((hugs)

I had a trim not too long ago and took hubby to watch and make sure the stylist did not go too far (or else he was [glb]NOT [/glb]being paid! >:(

But like bikerbraid said - On the up side - your ends are now in good shape!  8)

yes, healthy ends are definitely an upside :) and i've been oiling regularly, I've cut out all cones and heated appliances, and my Biolage Conditioning  Balm arrived in the mail yesterday :) I can't wait to try it, I've heard nothing but good things...

I've been wearing my hair in buns a lot lately anyway so it's likely that no one will even notice the difference in length... ;)

thanks for cheering me up, ladies!  :-*

I'm sorry you're upset about the trim.  Keeping your hair in a bun as it grows longer will help, and you might surprise yourself when you take it down it'll seem longer  ;).
Braiding your hair for sleeping may also help keep the splits at bay.

Hope you feel better, hang in there-hair grows faster in the warmer months!

I'm sorry your *tiny* trim turned so drastic!  My hair is just about where yours is now, so I really empathize with the loss of 2 inches.
Keep thinking on the bright side though - healthy ends, and summer growth (only good thing about hot, humid weather IMHO)
Oh I hope my hair grows faster this summer. Happy hair thoughts tonight!

you guys are so lucky with summer coming! I live in Australia and we're heading into winter now...it's still pretty warm but pretty soon it will turn cold (probably overnight, lol)...but that just gives me an excuse to have lots of open fires :)

Sorry that your hair got trimmed too much. :-[ I have almost always had this problem. Now, I always tell the stylist EXACTLY what I want. Tell her only half an inch, or say a quarter inch. Try telling her you want less, even if you want more trimmed. Once you find a good stylist, stick with her! Your stylist should keep your hair goals in mind, not what she would like to do to your hair. So share your goals and make sure your stylist is aware and concerned about what you want. Be specific. A trim to you might mean 3 inches to someone else!

Where in Oz lanivishnu?? Don't worry, you don't get much of a winter anyway :), unless you are down south :-/. I wonder whether such mild winters or the Qld affairs that can *hardly* be called a "winter" have the same slowing down effect as "real" winters  ;D ;D have to hair growth. You could report again when your Spring comes  :D :D
I think I want a trim too but I am putting it off for that reason exactly! >:( Baaaad baaaad salon ladies  :) ;D
