Title: Burt's Bees
Post by Chanda on May 10th, 2005 at 3:02pm
Just wondering if anyone has tried Burt's Bees all natural products?

I have used their Rosemary Mint shampoo bar, and it smells great, and my hair feels really nice after using it. They also have an avacado leave-in conditioner, but I haven't had a chance to use that one, yet. It's always out of stock, must be a big seller. They have a clarifying shampoo as well.  In their baby line they have a detangling shampoo bar for babies, I'd like to give that one a try.

I've used the Avocado Butter pre-shampoo treatment before and it's...OK.  It's very thick and heavy--too heavy for me to leave in my hair though they do say on the tube that you can.    I used it as a deep conditioning treatment and had a bit of trouble washing it all out though it did make my hair soft.  Some people mix it with conditioner to thin it out, which I think is probably a good idea.  However, my hair HATES Burt's shampoo bar so yours might love the stuff.

I haven't tried their shampoo, so I can't comment on it.  I've tried many of Burt's products and I love some, hate others, and the rest...blah.  I'd recommend picking up a sample pack and trying everything out first.  The Avocado hair stuff is usually in the sample packs.  If you're in the US they can generally be found in Books-A-Million, Cracker Barrel, and Waldenbooks; or you can go to their website: http://www1.burtsbees.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?catalogId=10001&storeId=10001&categoryId=10001&langId=-1&top=Y

(BTW:  this isn't hair-related, but I think that Burt's lipstick is the Best Lipstick Ever.  :-*)

(*chimes in on the digression* the lipstick and gloss rocks!  Especially for those of us allergic to the dyes in conventional lipstick)

I've been wanting to try the BB CO for a while... might be better as a leave in used in VERY small amounts.

Ive used the BB rosemary mint shampoo bar before, and it left my hair feeling absolutely horrible and coated, for a long time. it felt almost sticky it had so much 'stuff' in it. Bleh. Smells amazing, but was not good on my hair type.

Yay!! More people who loves Burt's Bees lipstick and lipbalm. I am absolutely ADDICTED to the lipbalm, I love how it makes my lips tingle after I put it on.

I've never used the shampoo or conditioner though, sorry.  :-/

Oh yea!  The chapstick is a go for me.

I did try the conditioner awhile back and it was pretty bad for me.  Was about two years ago though so it may have changed...g

I'm with Shmooey on this one.  I bought one of the Burt's Bees sampler kits and was so excited to try the rosemary soap bar but I went to bed with wet hair and woke up with wet - looking hair because it was so coated.  I do love the lip balm though.  Also, the tomatoe soap is great.

Burt Bee's Avocado Pre-Shampoo Treatment is great. Avocado is also great for strengthening the hair. I did not have a problem washing it out of my hair. I would agree that it is too thick to leave it in as a styling aid. But remember, you have to dampen the hair before you apply it as a pre-shampoo treatment. I use a spritz bottle of water, so I do not have to hold my head under the sink or in the shower and try not to get wet all over, so I do not have to walk around like a soggy dog waiting to get in the shower to wash the stuff off. I just wrap my hair up with something like cling wrap or use a shower cap after applying the treatment, then use a blowdryer on the outside to apply just enough heat to open up the cuticles. When it is warmed up, I relax for like 15 mins. until I have to shampoo it out. But if you do not like it, you could just crush up a real avocado and apply that to your hair as a mask for 30-60 mins. before you shampoo it out. Works wonders!  ;)

A great shampoo to try is MillCreek H-24 Shampoo, and good conditioner is Aubrey Organics - Island Naturals Replenishing Conditioner which you also use as a pre-shampoo treatment as well.

I've never used any of their hair stuff; I didn't even know they made hair stuff!

I recently picked up their chapstick at 5 below and have fallen in love with it.  I'd wanted to try it for a long time but wasn't really willing to pay almost 3 dollars a tube, so when I found it for just a dollar I stocked up!

I had a really hard time trying to use the Burts Avacodo mask... I couldnt work it through my darn curly hair, and it seemed to melt in my hands before I could get an even layer.

I just started using Burts rasberry shampoo and conditioner last week though, and it's made my hair very soft (until I have to dumb more evil product on my curls to tame them) and so far no build up....but I like to use an entire bottle before I pass judgement

I've used the raspberry shampoo/condish too, Sekhmet, and you're right.. it makes my hair so soft, like baby bird down.  :D

I've also used the sugar beet line (which was good too) and the carrot volumizing stuff... I highly recommend the volumizing product if you're looking to give your hair some LIIIIIIFT!  That stuff was awesome....

But then I had to go and get mesmerized by other organic lines, and the quest was on.. lol
