Title: Picture!

As Don Juan and Miquel say, "Picture!" Here's a pic of my hair about an hour after a CO wash and ACV rinse. Not completely dried, but almost.

Wow!! Very nice waves  :D The colour too!
And I love the contrast the soft waves do with the hard muscles underneath!! ;) ;D ;D I wouldn't have thought of it!

oh wow!  :-[ You all are so nice to comment and goodness! What comments. Okay, need to take diffierent pictures because now my head is bigger and, thus, the hair is shorter.

Seriously, thank-you very much. I can tell you all that for almost 30 years I fought those waves, because as you can see they go right up onto my head. I look back now and think of the time I spent with a blow dryer trying to get my hair straight.

Finally, about a decade ago I decided be happy with them. Let them flow and four years ago, I had an opportunity to not cut my hair and let it grow. Wish I'd found all this good advice then.

Again, thank-you for all the nice compliments.

Learning to accept and appreciate what you have makes life so much more enjoyable.  Congratulations!  (And an extra congrats for having the strength and courage to do your own thing - I know it is not always easy for men to grow longer hair in this society).

Thank-you, Valerie, I guess I'm lucky because every summer those highlights pop up the minute I'm out in the sun.

Oh, I agree about learning to accept (now!) BikerBraid. I must be honest and say growing long hair didn't take too much courage as I now work from home and my boss has long hair and I no longer have to be in front of stuffy corporate types.  So, you see, the way was already paved for me to try and have long hair. Something I always wanted to try.

You have really nice hair!  It's rare for me to see a guy with long hair who actually takes the time to take care of it.

Actually I had not been taking care of it properly until finding ths board and reading all the great information. What a big difference a little extra time and TLC has done!

Same here.  Before joining LL, I would sometimes make split ends longer because I wanted to see how long I could make it before one side got pulled off the strand of hair!  Ack.

For years and years, I hated by waves and curls. I wanted straight hair. Now, I wouldn't dream of attempting to make my hair lay straight.

NR, I was curious, do you use hairsticks?  I think they would look great in your wavy hair!

Title: Re: Picture!
Post by NaturalRogue on Aug 5th, 2005 at 11:27am
Funny you should ask, panpeus, because I had not attempted using anything like hair sticks until this past weekend. I was working in the backyard and wanted all my hair off my neck, so I did my first braided bun. Although I have no hair sticks, I did find some bamboo skewers that did the trick.  :)

Pencils and chop sticks work well in a pinch as well, NR (and they aren't all gurly-like, either  ;) ).

OR you can use a couple of nails or a small screwdriver.  That's really manly /flex
:)

LOL! ::doing my best Tim Allen, Home Inprovement, "Men are Pigs", grunting::

Excellent ideas, ladies.  ::) However, I'm thinking that if keep trying a bun, like I'm wearing today, I might have to get a really nice wooden hair fork. D'yall think that would work?

A wooden hair fork is one of my favorite hair toys!  Really simple to use, and not too "girly."   ;)

LOL  ;D

you guys crack me up -- wish I had some good one liners to add -- actually I like all those ideas for NR's bun.

A trip to Home Depot for hairsticks sounds in order.
