Title: How do I use this...
Post by AtlantisAllure on Jul 15th, 2005 at 10:31pm
Today while at the store I bought some coconut milk...I know I have read about people putting it in there hair, but how? Do I heat it up first? Do I put it on my hair while its wet, dry?  ??? Does it even make any differance? Should I do an ACV rince afterwards? Heeeelp. lol

I used it once, just dipped my wet ponytail in a bowl of it--not heated.  I didn't like the smell so I haven't done it again.  I think I liked the results, but its been so long ago I don't really remember what they were.

Hi Atlantis! :)
Okay, what I did was pour it into my hair (dry) over the sink (cold) and caught the extra in a bowl.  I did this a few times then saved the extra for my bath.  Then I put on my heat cap for about half and hour and relaxed.  Then I washed, conditioned and ACVed.  This is my fav treatment! I use Tosca coconut milk and it smells very nice and not at all like fish. Hair turned out very soft and shiney.  I don't know if it makes a difference if you hair is wet or not.  I ACV cause the treatment was very oily and I wanted to make sure any extra was cleared away.

Good luck!!  8)

Oh thank you for this.  I would have never even thought to try coconut milk!

Oh this is one of my favorite "hair witchery" things. I use a half a can on my dry hair, applying it by dunking the length into a bowl. Wrap up the hair in shower caps & warm towels or as Lisabelle a heat cap. Then wash out. I don't do an ACV afterwards, but I do rinse very thoroughly.

As for the remaining half of can, I put it in a tupperware container and freeze until I want to do a treatment again. Should last several months in the freezer.

This is the one I use; it's the only coconut milk my local grocery carries.

Whatever brand you purchase, make sure it is not a "Lite" version.

Also, don't use the "coconut cream" that's in the mixed drinks section.  Use canned regular coconut milk--IF your hair likes protein.

Coconut milk also does wonderful things for your skin if you put some in your bathwater, or just wash with it instead of soap.  It's wonderfully moisturizing.  :-*
