Title: Widdow's Peak
Post by Sakina on Aug 17th, 2005 at 10:26pm
What technically makes a Widdow's Peak?  Does the point in front have to be a certain length?  ???

I think I have a little WP, my hair line is not straight across that's for sure.

So, chime in if you please!

;D

Hmmmm, I recently wondered this too...My hair does come to a peak, but not a LOT. I always think of that kid from the show Munsters and my peak certainly doesnt look like THAT! lol

Btw, Sakina...Is that a monroe piercing you have? Or something of that sort...I know they are called lots of things, someone once referred to mine as a chrome crawford, which I found pretty comical.

Ummm, Lily Munster comes to mind, but you ladies are waaaaaay to young and vibrant to have a widow's peak like that.  :)

AA, yes I'm sporting a Monroe.  I've had it for 2 years now.  I really like it.  I liked yours too, from your previous avatar.
My peak is no where near the Munster's.  I imagine their's were exaggerated to show up on camera.

Widow's peaks don't get deeper as we get older, do they?

Is it an age thing?  There was a girl in high school who had a predominant (sp?) widow's peak.  It looked really nice on her.

Mostly they are genetic - think Debbie Mazar - and a lovely widow's peak it is IMO  ;D.

I think the thing that is associated with age related thinning is that often people do loose the most visible hair in the temple region, which creates a sort of false widows peak.  Also, the front hairline, with any thinning at all (even thinning that is overall no biggie) will show a variation from what you may have had at your most hairy (often just post puberty).

I certainly can see a bit more scalp in my crown parts and the hairline is not as dense right smack at the start -  with a bit more variety *cough cough*in the line - as long as it doesn't get too much worse it's actually no problem at all...g

I'm so off topic here...But have you noticed any gum recesion from your monroe, Sakina? I got mine about four years ago on my 18th birthday. I had wanted it for a long time, but my mother was against it!

Ok, I admit it, I'm at a loss here. What is a "monroe"?

I believe it's the piercing in Sakina's avatar - in the spot where Marilyn Monroe had her mole.
