Title: Magic at Work
Post by Moonchild on Aug 30th, 2005 at 12:13pm
:) I still didn't measure my hair. But right now it's between shoulder and collar bone length. And going by the chart, I would say 1bNii. Still lots of layers. About 2 weeks ago I cut about 2 inches off just to get rid of one of the bigger layers. It looks better. I am glad that I did that. Today I'm wearing a pony tail. I have to use quiet a few little "helpers" to keep my hair in place. Not working to well.  :-/ I think tonight I will try the honey-oliveoil conditioning for my hair. It feels dry and frizzy. This morning I thought it looked like little mice were biting my ends. Horrible  >:(
My BabyGirl is going to send me some Earth Brown Henna. She likes the idea that Mom is letting her hair grow again.  :)

I measured it 46 cm or 18.11 in
My camera doesn't want to cooperate  ??? Picture has to wait..... 8)

Will do the honey-oliveoil-treatment now. While it works the magic with my hair, I will try to find camera instructions *grrr*

My hair feels lot better this morning. Honey/Oliveoil did good.  :)

Right now I'm using INFUSIUM23 SHAMPOO for ColorTreated/Permed Hair and the leave-in conditioner.

I like that stuff on my hair, but my scalp itches  :-/

All of my Dove stuff is now with the neighbors (kids). I told the Lady WHY I don't want it anymore......she had this smile on her face like she looked at a fruit cake.  :)
I don't care *singing* cause once my hair is pretty and long, she won't smile like that anymore *lalalalalla* :)

I used the infusium line for a long time.  I really liked it, and I would gladly buy more of it!

I just need to deplete my enormous pile of shampoos and conditioners.

I just want to share a story today:

My mom was a compulsive scissor addict, I think.  8)
When I was little my hair didn't have a chance to grow, cause Mom was always there to give it another "trim".
Sometimes I had to go to school with a bandana on my head cause she had cut so much off that I was embarrassed. I think I was about 12 years when I finally grew smart and hid the scissors from her. My hair grew and grew and grew until I decided to cut it short. What do you know when you are 16? Not a whole lot.  ;D After that I went thru a million of perms, growing, layers, more perms, let's not forget the coloring attempts...... :-/ Until now.  :)
Now lets look at my daughter: I let her hair grow from the first day on. Every so often a little trim, that was it. I just had to teach her at very early age - I think she was 2 1/2 years old - when Oma (Grandma) comes with the scissors YOU RUN CHILD. Run like the wind. And scream. You better believe it that I had neighbors telling me about more than one occasion that my daughter was running thru the backyard screaming on top of her lungs.   ::) Good Girl!  My mom was only once able to get a hold on to my daughter's hair. She trimmed her bangs so short you couldn't hardly see them any more.

After my mom run out of options ( I was grown, my daughter was no willing victim) she turned the scissors towards our family dog! One afternoon when I went by the house just to see how things are.....Bonny (the dog) came running towards me.....on one side the hair was long - the other the hair was short to the skin!!!! ARRRRRRRG. Why didn't you at least finish him, Mom? Oh, she replied, I am bored with it now............. ???

Silly woman  :) But she was a good Mom  ;D

:o :o :o  OMG!!!  Your mother should not be allowed withing 100 feet of a pair of scissors!

*xputtle* - you just had me spit coke thinking about  the poor dog -  can you put your Mom in a naughty room - or maybe just confescate all the scissory and knives and put those protective shields on them .

Never, ever, go to sleep around your Mom ;~) ...g

HAHAHA that's a great story!  Sounds like just needed to get it out of her system.  Maybe the next time she gets trigger fingers you should get her a long-haired doll.

At least she didn't get "bored" doing yours or your daughter's hair!  :D

Krome: I like that with the "trigger-finger"

BB: I'll try to dig out some old pictures and scan them in........then you can see the damage  >:(

Gabi: Hope you didn't spit the coke on your dog  8)
My Dad ended up taking Bony to a grooming place.

Hubby surprised me with a weekend on the beach.  :)
We left Friday at lunch and stepped foot on the North Sea beach - YAY - around 08:00 at night. I love it up there! The weather was great, sun and sand nice and warm. I spent several hours sleeping in the Beach Baskets again. http://www.cuxhaven.de/cuxhaven_824.php

Hope that link works.

I ate lots of fresh fish and shrimps. My diet went out the window for the last 3 days. But fish is healthy.  :)
We had Sheeba with us (our Lab/cockerspaniel mix)She loves running thru the "Watt". Beagle Bear and Miss Buttons stayed home. A friend took care of them.

Tonight I will give my hair a special treat. I'm still debating on what kind of deep conditioning I will try. But I have to do something after 2 1/2 days of full sun, salt water and sand.........

Okay, on the Hair side:

bought myself some "Diamonds" for the hair. I guess if I ever want to sparkle I can put them in my hair. They are self sticky little thingys - hubby thought that they are for the belly button  ::)

And I have a pony tail holder with a big fish on it - go figure  ::)

Two little claw-bears and 2 claw-butterflies, Cute.

I am in a totally good mood today Yeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaa

On the sad side: I've found lots of split ends this morning. I am not happy about this at all. Must go and get this trimmed of, before they will break off.  :-/

I am on day 4 without washing my hair. This is totally new for me....I used to wash my hair every day.
But tonight is the night!

Yesterday I received the Jojoba Oil, the Avocado butter and the wide teeth (or tooth ?) comb I had ordered. YAY  :)

The plan: When I get home I will "butter" my hair and then I will enjoy cutting the grass. This will take me about 2 hours. That should be plenty of time for the avocado butter to soak into my hair - then I will wash. I am still using the Infusium 23 and the way my hair feels right now, I will stick with it for a while.

For some reason I have a terrible headache since last night. Maybe the weather is changing again...

I am still waiting on my new rugs to arrive. I had ordered 2 braided rugs. A round one and an oval one. Yesterday the new curtains came in. Now the new look for the living room is almost complete.

BabyGirl sent a picture of her puppy and her cat. They are soooooo adorable.

Helluuuu Journal  8)

Who should use Avocado butter in their hair? Honestly?

I don't think that I will ever use it again. Can't stand the smell, uh ah  ??? It smells better when I watch hubby doing an oil change on the truck.  :-/

I had to wash my hair twice and I still think that I can smell it  @#$$^^&%$#

The puppy and cat are so cute!  :D

Thanks for the heads up on the avacado butter. Regular avacado smells OK, so I'm surprised that the butter smells so bad. I hope the odor gets out of your hair soon.

gabi His name is Bubba and he's a Dachshund.

Dappled Dachshunds--The "single" dapple pattern is expressed as lighter-colored areas contrasting with the darker base color, which may be any acceptable color. Neither the light nor the dark color should predominate. Nose and nails are the same as for one and two-colored Dachshunds. Partial or wholly blue (wall) eyes are as acceptable as dark eyes. A large area of white on the chest of a dapple is permissible.

A "double" dapple is one in which varying amounts of white coloring occur over the body in addition to the dapple pattern. Nose and nails: as for one and two-color Dachshunds; partial or wholly self-colored is permissible.

Brindle is a pattern (as opposed to a color) in which black or dark stripes occur over the entire body although in some specimens the pattern may be visible only in the tan points.

khrome you are right! Didn't occur to me yet  :)

pan the smell is gone -pffft wiping sweat from forehead - hair feels actually soft and all, but I really don't think that I will use it again.

This is me  ;D First day of school in August of 1967

Oh my  ;D

Weekend was waaaaaaaaaay to short.
Had to take hubby to doc - Pneumonia
Beagle Boy had to see the vet - bladder infection

I had break down and finally take care of my most "favorite" (yeah, right) chore : ironing  :-/

The kiddos called and we talked about the possible flight dates.  Both are coming home for the holidays. DarlingDaughter brings her little Bubba as well.  :) This is going to be fun again. This little bundel of energy keeps my 3 dogs and the cat on their paws day and night  :)  :)   :)
Daughter's cat had babies a few weeks ago and it was time to take them from the mummy-cat. Sad day. But my son took one of them and named her June. (short for Junior)

Hair is not doing to well. Way to frizzy and not laying right at all. I oiled it yesterday and this morning. The ends are just sucking it up. Tomorrow I will make an app to get the split ends trimmed off.

Thanks BB, but unfortunately I had to iron a few of my shirts. Whatever hubby doesn't iron, goes to the dry cleaners. They make a fortune on us every month.  ???

Just received 2 boxes in the mail:

One was the newest book I'd ordered by Terry Brooks
and the second box was from my kiddos  :)

Now I have 2 x Henna Earth Brown
3 piece fragance candle piece (smells soooo good)
2 small wooden signs:
one reads: " Bear Collector" and has a cute little bear dangling underneath the sign
and the second one says: " Happiness is to have a mother like you"

Hair still feels  >:($%^(*^$, but that's okay  :)

Yeah me  ::)

This is Sheeba. She is 11 years old. Mama was a snow white cockerspaniel, Daddy was a labrador  8)
She's actually our son's dog. Those 2 grew up together.Next picture is our cat Smokey. He's trying to catch a mouse  8)

Okay. Now since I figured out how to do this  ;D I will go and take more pictures. hehehe

:) Here is the rest of the family  :)

May I introduce...Miss Buttons

It was a very cold winter in the Ft Knox area when I found her one day sitting in front of the Motel where I used to work. She was full of snow and ice and nothing but skin and bone. The hotel guests didn't get any donuts that morning. I fed'em all to little Miss Buttons.  :)

And here is the King of the House:

Bear, Baerchen, Beagle Boy, Beagle Bear  8) He has more names than anything else around here
He is with us for four years now. His first year in this man's world wasn't to pleasant. Lots of different owners and lots of beatings, no food and other mean things. It took us quiet some time to gain his trust  :)

I tried to take a picture of my hubby's head  ;D but he refuses....

I went to the beauty shop yesterday. I didn't loose much on the length in the back - maybe .5 cm. If even that much. But my layers on the side OMG  >:(
I seen the spliss myself and I knew it had to be done - I lost over two centimeters  :'(
My hair looks and feels better without all the dead ends.

Beagle Bear is doing better. He dug a huge hole in the yard yesterday - I guess he's trying to catch this nasty little mole we have. This little critter destroys our entire yard. Little dirtmounts popping up everywhere. Need to find a remedy.
Hubby is doing much better too. The medicine is working well.

Just received the pictures from the weekend at the beach. I am still debating on posting a pic of hubby  ;D
hehe I just might do that.
When I am reading thru the other journals, I realize just HOW MUCH hairstuff is out there. I've been living a sheltered life. Never before knew about hair sticks and most certainly never thought about all these fantastic internet sites with all this pretty, pretty hair stuff.
I am so  :D that I found this site YAY

greek_lady those things are named
STRANDKORB = Beachbasket

One can lower the top half just like with a regular sun chair. Some keep it up straight, some lower it only a little bit or others are laying completeyly flat. That's just the way it's done around here. They are actually very comfortable and on days when the sun is not shinning as bright as one likes it  :)  sitting on the beach is still okay cause the basket protects from the wind.
And yes, one can rent those for a few Euros a day. After payment one receives a key for the basket. This key goes to the lock on the front of the Strandkorb. It holds a piece of light wood in place, closing the Strandkorb completly from the front. This way, one can store toys, bathtowels, suncream and other stuff in the Strandkorb over night. This eliminates having to carry everything everyday to the beach and back. I like it.
I remember when I was little, my Dad used to built a small "castle wall" around our Strandkorb and then we would decorate it with shells we found on the beach. (back then everybody built a wall around their baskets)
It was like a competition who will built it better and prettier.  :)

The party was alright. I would guess that only half of all the members showed up for which ever reason. The food was good. We had a local party service bring in the meat dishes and we all brought in different salads and desserts. Lots of dancing, talking and exchange of recepies.  :)

Sunday went by way to fast. We (hubby and I ) worked in the yard;Picked up the chestnuts for the wild boars and the deers; removed all my gargoyles out of the yard and the pump out of the pond - good thing we did! The temps went down to freezing overnight!

Puppies are okay. Totally playful. They love the cooler weather. Beagle Bear didn't want to come in at all  :)

Hair: People starting to notice that my hair is growing YAY.  :) I'm still sticking to Infusium 23 shampoo and leave in conditioner. And every other day I use some Jojobaoil on the ends. I love the smell and the way it feels.

I started knitting again - after a several year break. Before I will engage in socks and such, I will make a little scarf. And I picked up the crochet needle as well. I will finish a 2 year old project - a shawl.

BB and Lisabelle: I guess I have two experts here now  :D I will probably have some questions. Right now I am just trying to get back in the groove. When the kiddos were little I used to knit them all kind of stuff: socks, hats, scarfs, sweaters, sweaters for Daddy, sweaters for the whole family. Then there was nothing for a long time. Then I started some little stuff here and there, but nothing worth talking about. Now that we are finally done with all the house stuff and the yard is finished, I can direct my attention to the lighter side of life again  :)

Hair: Bought some more Hair toys  :)

I want to wait 2 more days before I wash it again.
That would bring me up to 5 days.

My scalp is itching this morning. Awful. I think I
am starting to understand the whole scritching
         idea.

And I bought some Burdock Root Oil. I will try that
        tonight.

It is so cold. We had ice on the windshields this morning again. This is kinda unusual for this time in Sep. My guess is that we will have snow by Thanksgiving.

What makes it really bad that I put a lot of oil in my hair last night.....I figured I let it soak it in overnight and wash my hair in the a.m. HA! Now I am at WORK with a greasy ponytail JUST GREAT.
I am going to the gym during lunch and take a shower there. Or maybe I should wait till after work. Then I can drive straight home with my wet hair and sit in my COLD house.  >:(  >:(   >:(
This guy better shows up today and repairs this thing. Or better yet, just take that burner out and put a brandnew one in.

Oh, Moonchild!  How terribly frustrating!!!!!  I hope the issue is resolved soon!  I am totally paranoid on days when I think my hair is greasy looking-I think that's all people are noticing about me!  I hope you get a long, hot shower at your gym-do you have a microfiber hairtowel?  They really cut down on drying time.

Good Luck-keep us posted!!!!

Poor, poor Moonchild.   :-/

I hope you get the water heater issue resolved soon.  Cold showers are fine in the summer, but not all the time!   :o

I'd send you some of my hot water, but I lost power in a storm last night and the house is still "in the dark" this morning.  ;D

It's Saturday. Hubby went fishing. Heater guy is downstairs trying to repair what ever needs to be done. I'm just waiting and wasting time.

Hair is fine. Getting more grey in.  :-/ I bought me some more vitamins and "beer-yeast" pills. All natural and supposedly THE THING for hair and nails. We will see. I like the all natural part.

I feel bad. Looking at the disaster going on in the southern part of the states and I want to complain about not having hot water  :-[

I can't believe that I'v e been talking that much already to reach DIAMOND status - feels just like yesterday that  I joined this forum......weird.

Bear and Buttons are about to drive me up the wall. They wake up almost every hour on the hour and then WE have to go outside and see what's going on in the yard. I think, they are waiting for a deer or a boar hog to get lost...... ;D We can hear them making their funny noises - the deer anyway - and now my 2 hunting dogs think they have to go and play  ::) Bear got chased out of the woods by a boar hog not to long ago. That was funny.
Smokey is still on the prawl with all the other cats in the neigborhood.........he doesn't come home until 5 a.m.
Sheeba is the only one who is in the same rythem with me. She sleeps and snores all night long. She's the biggest one of all three and chooses the smallest puppy basket to sleep in. ???? Whatever makes her happy.

Hubby is not feeling to good.  His blood pressure is messing with him.

Tonight I start my new Wednesday routine: swimming!
I found out that we have a small indoor pool here at our local High School which is open to everybody in the evenings. No more excuses.

I am in class all week. Job enhancement.  :-/ It is so boring. Please, let it be Friday soon!

Daughter called.  :)  :) She's being promoted come 1 October. She is such a go-getter. Full time soldier and fulltime student.  :)

Hair: lot less hair loss in the a.m. and the ends don't break off that much neither anymore. My hair looks better since the last trim. (with Thermo Cut)
The more I look at pictures when I still had the full blown perm, the more I start to appreciate my straight hair.

Anywhoohoo: It's a great day. The world is round and still turning. Let's get it started!  :)

Hubby is gone again to teach the soldiers in Belgium for the next two weeks.  :-/ It's alright. I have to knit more scarfs and I will redo the basement (get rid of all the junk) while he is away.

Great workout, great people.  :)

Going to Belgium tomorrow morning to be with my hubby over the weekend.  :) Haven't been there yet and Belgian chocolate is famous. We will see ;)

I am upset. JC Penney CANNOT deliver my favorite braided rugs to me. Not to my APO address nor to my German home address. Because of the weight and the seize.  :'(

I am soooooo glad to be back home. Belgium is pretty expensive  8)

Bought a green pumpkin (Geenland blue is the name) looks cool  8)

Bought some home made jam: pear and rhubarb with peach

And a girl was selling hand painted flower pots: I couldn't resist when I saw the sad puppy face on the clay pot  :) I just had to buy it

And last but not least, I was able to "practice" some of my long-forgotten French I had learned in school once upon a time  ::) I barely remembered anything.

********
Almost made it home in a little over 6 hours, but then the Autobahn clogged up again and I went from one little stau to a huge accident involving 2  semi-trucks and a car....it took the fire dep, police and some other helpers quiet a while to cut one of the drivers out of his cabin. Then we saw the helicopter coming in and taking back off within minutes.....I hope the guy or girl is okay. Over an hour and a half later the Autobahn was cleared at least halfways and police was directing traffic around the site. The whole thing happened about 2 minutes away from the exit I have to take. I heard a discussion on the radio today about having speed limits on the German Autobahns. I am wondering why they are still discussing that - just do it!

Saturday was KEITH URBAN concert time.  :)

He sounds just as good live as on his CDs. It was great. But everything around it was more or less a big pain. We (some friends and hubby) left around 3 p.m. on Sat afternoon to drive down to Munich which is about 3 1/2 hours away. Thanks to modern technic -GPSsystem- we had to problems finding the "Backstage". This place was a little smaller than I thought it would be, but okay. We had to stand in line in front of the gates from about 7p.m until 8:30 p.m. then the gates opened for the crowd. Finally inside we were kinda shocked. No chairs, no nothing. It was standing only. Wished they would have made it an Open Air Concert, I could have brought a blanket or something. The lady who was singing first put the crowd almost to sleep with her slow songs......Then finally Keith himself! As mentiioned before he is great! A few minutes before midnight I had to fight my way thru the crowd to get back outside....I just couldn't stand up anymore. My legs were killing me.  :-/  So, I missed starring at him, while he performed his last 3 songs for the night. Poor guy had deep circles under his eyes. He had concerts in 3 other cities before he came to Munich. And I bet that somebody took him to the Octoberfest  ;D
The way home was prolonged with staus and traffic accidents, and we finally put the key in our front door at 5 a.m. Sunday morning. pffffffffffft. Was I glad to be in my bed!  :)

I guess it's the time in the year to get sick.

Well, well. I ended up in the hospital last night. Allergic reaction to the antibiotic the doc prescribed - I never felt that horrible in my life before.

And now today, I had to bring hubby to the hospital. He might get his appendix taking out.  :-/
It's just not a good week.

BB, Lisabelle, Juri thank you guys for the getting better wishes.

Hubby is back out of the hospital. It is not the appendix, so they say anyway. Something inflamatory intestine........there will be more testing for poor hubby and CTs....

**

Doc says that my bronchitis is highly contagious. Shouldn't I stay at home then and not go to work?  ???

I am trying to stay away from folks, but with all these meetings and briefings we H A V E to go to right now....

***

Went to the beauty shop last night and had my ends trimmed. Again with the "hot scissors" This is the second time now. My hair is not breaking that much anymore and I don't have this many split ends like before. But this could be the good care as well.
The beautician was totally ecstatic about my hair.......how fast it is growing and how wonderful is shines. I had to tell her all about my hair care routine! Made me feel good  :)

Oh gosh, I hope you two get better soon!  I know how you feel about wanting to go into work.  But what I've found is people get really mad if I go in with something they can catch.  If you still are well enough to do work, but don't want to infect anyone, teleconferencing is a great compromise.

I'm glad you are having success with the hot scissors!  Have you noticed any difference in how often you get splits?

::: gets up on the soap box :::

If you are contagious, PLEASE don't go in to work.

As a person who is allergic to most antibiotics and many other medications, I usually have to suffer through illnessnes with rest, liquids and ibruprofin.  Those of us that have a harder time fighting off illnesses wish more people would limit contact with others when they are contagious.  Everyone would be more productive if sick people stayed home.

::: gets down off the box :::

Hope you are feeling better soon!

BB, I know how you feel. I am allergic to a lot of antibotics myself.....ended up in the hospital cause of that last Monday night. The problem is that I cannot just stay at home. The doc put me on sick leave for 3 days. That's it. If I stay home on my own that doesn't look to good. And Like Khrome said, our boss normally don't give a rip how you feel as long as the job gets done....
Our Private in the section is 8 month pregnant. Naturally she is more out than at work. The other sergeant has to fly back to the states with his wife for surgery.
I would've loved to stay home for a few more days.
Lisabelle, I can honestly tell the difference with those scissors. I used to have split ends within 10 days of a haircut. Now it takes about 4 weeks before I see the first split ends.

Hubby has been digging out pics from a few years back. "Look how long your hair was....and it is growing back.......and it is soooo pretty" He is so adorable!

Auctioned him a banjo on ebay last night. 5 string. He used to play trumpet way back when, and now PB wants to learn the banjo!  :)

My son is home  :) Yay! He landed in Munich today.
The driving part was awful: we had "Blitzice" today - a lot of Autobahns were blocked, lots of accidents.
That rain hit the windshield and the street and it froze immediately! On the way home we had snowshowers. We are safe at home. Tim runs around in a T.-Shirt and refuses to wear a jacket "it ain't cold here, Mom. Go to Kansas, it's cold there....." Okay, so he's 20 years old, and he knows it all.  ;D

And when we came home, my hubby gave me the box!!
The secret santa box.  :)  :)  :) I promise pictures of all of my gifts soon.

Now I have to check on son and hubby.....they are making to many plans already involving my old pick-up truck.....lifting, side bars, new this, new that.  ::)

Went swimming last night. Hubby thinks I lost my last marble, cause they have a part (at the pool) where you can swim outside  :) I love it! The water feels nice and warm, above one nothing but the stars and little snowflakes falling.......*sigh*

Hair: I am so glad when the leftover %$*&%^$ perm is gone! Now my hair is straight til right above my ears, then it curls up till about chin length to turn into flat layers again.   >:(

The Math class is kicking my behind  :-/ I thought that I can just take the first exam without studying or anything. Well, the grade pulled me back down to the ground, I barely have a 74%. Nothing to brag about  :-[

I received another warning e-mail. This time it is reference lipsticks containing high amounts of lead. Lead can cause cancer. Luckily I do not wear any lipstick ever.

The next hair trim appointment is scheduled for the 2nd of February. On the 3rd I have my monthly Facial done and on the 4th I will be airborne. I heard a bunch of wild stories about the Memphis Airport.......I guess I will see for myself  ::)

Last night was the first meeting with the BodyMed folks. The BMI test really got to me. I knew that I had to loose weight and I knew that I was seriously overweight. But seeing these numbers black on white shines a new light on the situation. All these folks in that group are from around my neigborhood. I had seen them before and some of them lost a lot of weight already. Others are working on stabilizing their weight. And I had a little chat with a lady who - just like me- gained way over 50 lbs when she quit smoking.  :'(  Well, enough of that.

I am very glad I have THAT person for the Brighten Up the Feb Exchange..... ;D A million and 2 ideas are floating thru my head  8) I will go shopping this Saturday. YAY
