Title: Curls going to waste :-/
Post by Beesan16 on Dec 3rd, 2005 at 4:16pm
Hello ladies! :)

My brother has cute curls that are well... what do you call BSL on a 31/2 year old boy ::) (maybe i can post a pic later). Anyway I would really love to take care of his hair, to keep his hair healthy and growing. I looked at his shampoo, we were using L 'Oreal kids, and it had Sodium Laureth, and Lauryl sulfate :o :o, so i stopped using it and now i'm using Suave Naturals conditioner until i find a good shampoo for him.

I would be very gratefull for any advise, and Thanks in advance ;D

Sorry, Beesan16, I can't help with curls. But it is really cute that you will take care of your little brother's hair.
And a picture of this little fellow would be really adorable :)

I was thinking of getting him Jason kids only shampoo (yaay i found them at Wholefoods Market)since it doesn't have any of the Soduim L/L Sulfates

Hi Beesan, I don't have much good advice in the way of his hair- how about a gentle baby shampoo like johnson's?  I really don't know the ingredients in it, though...sorry  ???!

I think it's great that you care so much about your little brother and take care of him like that.  My little brother was born when I was 10 and I was like his 2nd mother because of my parent's work schedules.  My friends would joke that he was always attatched to my hip no matter where I went.  It seemed like a pain in the but sometimes then, because I was really limited with going out and being with my friends, especially in my high school years, but now I wouldn't change it for the world.  We are so close now, and now he never bats an eye at helping ME when I need it.  So cherish this time with your little brother, you are creating a bond that is stronger than you could ever imagine!  ;)

Poor Maggie. My mother was 9½ years older than her younger sister, and has a story very similar to yours. The two are not that close in their adult lives, though.

I once thought about using Johnson's baby shampoo for myself, given the mildness of the ingredients:

The Original Johnson's Baby shampoo: Water, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, PEG-80 Sorbitan Laurate, Sodium Trideceth Sulfate, PEG-150 Distearate, Fragrance, Polyquaternium-10, Tetrasodium EDTA, Quaternium-15, Citric Acid, Yellow 10 and Orange 4.

Johnson's Baby shampoo with Natural Lavender: Water, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, PEG-80 Sorbitan Laurate, Sodium Trideceth Sulfate, PEG-150 Distearate, Fragrance, Polyquaternium-10, Tetrasodium EDTA, Quaternium-15, Citric Acid, Ext. Violet 2

Johnson's Baby shampoo Detangling formula: Water, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, PEG-80 Sorbitan Laurate, Sodium Trideceth Sulfate, PEG-150 Distearate, Fragrance, Polyquaternium-10, Tetrasodium EDTA, Quaternium-15, Citric Acid, Red 40, Yellow 10

All of the formulas are pretty much the same. Hope it helps.  :)

The Curly Girl Book has a method of washing kids hair and misting with lavender spray. Lorainne Massey says that the lavender spray is a repellent againt lice. Thats interesting.  3.5 year old with BLS LENGTH? :o :o :o wOW. BLS is middle of the back, right? Im not sure i forget. ::) Massey doesnt use poo on kids hair she says...... i think.
