Title: Restaurant filled with long-haired ladies!
Post by Angel Spun on Jan 9th, 2006 at 6:06am
I had my birthday dinner tonight at Claim Jumper where my sister works, and throughout the night I spotted not one, but several long-haired ladies!

Some had dark hair, some had blonde. Some had gorgeous waves, some stick-straight. But it was all lovely and inspirational, and I kept pointing them out to my parents who were with me.

Could have been an omen, and certainly encouraging.  ;)

Lovely! ;) And to top that off, from what I know about Claim Jumper, you had a fabulous meal as well? :D

Well, first of all...HAPPY BIRTHDAY GIRL!!!

I hope you had an awesome time...although I've never heard of claim jumper, is that a popular restaurant or something?  That's really something that you would encounter so many long-haired women in one place in one night!  Definetly an omen from the long hair gods...what else could it be? Coincidence?  I don't think so.   ;)

Happy Birthday!

Sounds like the Claim Jumper attracts women with good taste!

Aww, thanx, you guys! Y'all are so nice!  :D

Anais: The meal was pretty darn good. And pretty darn HUGE! lol You should have seen the size of my dad's onion rings!!  :o I wonder where on earth they get onions that big in the first place...

Maggie: The Claim Jumper is indeed a popular restaurant, famous for their Gold Rush theme and HUGE proportions. http://www.claimjumper.com My sister works at the local location here, which is why I chose it.
Lol @ long hair gods....I think you're right!

bikerbraid: CJ attracts all different kinds of people. Some whose only taste lies in their mouth...but that's what restaurants are for, right?  ;)

It was way cool to see so many long-haired ladies there, though I think my parents may suspect that I have an obsession. I felt like I was constantly going, "Wow, look at her hair!"  ;D

I'm glad you had a great birthday!  It could very well be an omen.

Happy birthday!

I'm certain it was an omen...or perhaps a glimpse of future? ;D

Figures it just a west-coast thing, the menu looks fabulous!  Us east-coasters can only drool!  There's actually things for vegetarians to eat,  :o , amazing!  It's hard living the vegetarian lifestyle in a small red-neck town.  It's becoming a little more accepted around here, but 14 years ago...forget it!  You may as well have been from Pluto, ppl around here would have looked at you the same way.  Some still do, the usual comment is "So whaddya eat, grass?"  I finally gave into that one..."Yes.  Grass.  I eat grass.  Love the grass."  Then I giggle on the inside.   :P

Anyhow, I got way off subject!  I just wanted to say how great the menu looked!

Panpeus & Galadriel: I sure hope it was an omen!! That would be awesome for my hair's future.  :D

Maggie: LOL @ grass. I guess things are much different on the east coast. Vegetarianism is quite common here in CA. Good thing, considering that my boyfriend is phenylketonuric. It's nice to have options to work around that...even though he usually ignores it.  :P

Ok, looked up phenylketonuria (this is a new word to me, had to find out what it means!)  Dictionary definition:

:an inherited metabolic disorder caused by an enzyme deficiency resulting in accumulation of phenylalanine and its metabolites in the blood causing usually severe mental retardation and seizures unless phenylalanine is restricted from the diet beginning at birth.

...So next I look up phenylalanine:

: an essential amino acid C9H11NO2 that is converted in the normal body to tyrosine

This is still not clear to me.  How on earth does he know what does and doesn't contain phenylalanine?  ???

I know many products are specifically labeled with a warning it the product contains phenylalanine.

Phenylalanine is a chemical found in most protein foods, such as eggs, meats, nuts and dairy.

Reader's Digest version: Phenylalanine is naturally toxic to the body, and during normal digestion, it is converted naturally by an enzyme into tyrosine, which is not toxic, but helpful to the body.
Phenylketonurics either don't produce enough of this enzyme or don't produce it at all, making their bodies incapable of converting the toxic phenylalanine, thus causing it to build up in their bloodstream and attack brain tissue.

Phenylketonurics learn from birth what they can and what they cannot digest, being mainly protein foods. It's just a matter of if you have the disease, you learn what you're supposed to avoid. Much like diabetes or what have you.

My boyfriend is a meat & potatoes man's man when it comes to food, however and I know that's not good for him. Everything in moderation, you know...  ;)
