Title: Not sure how to start, but here goes!!!
Post by Curlgirl64 on Mar 6th, 2006 at 12:44pm
:)Well,I never kept a diary when I was younger, but I guess as you get older you get wiser lol!  Here's the first one!!
Up  early with my birds(no,really I mean that)  at the first hint of sunlight someone,I am not naming names, but someone starts chirping!!!!  My cue to get up,feed the dog, pracitce my Pilates and Yoga and then the thrill of it......clean the bird cages!!!!!!!  Ok it's not that bad.  Then everyone gets fed and "out time" of their cages.
Now it's 8:30am and time get making the coffee and oatmeal....  Pass the Silk Soymilk, please:)

;D believe me sometimes I wonder if I stumble out of bed, crawl or what!lol
Quick question for you,how do you measure your hair? Do you do it or does someone give you a hand?  I know it was more than one question:)

Hubby will sometimes help me, but my hair is long enough to measure myself.

Your length may determine whether you need help your not.

To measure, use a tailor's tape measure (not a metal tape measure!).  Start at your hairline at the front, go over the top of your head and down to the longest strands.  This would be your length. The important part of measuring is to be consistent in your method.

ok.  I use a taylor's tape measure for my crocheting.  I"m gonna need help,it's really long or so I think it is.  Proof is in the measurement!!  I'll get back to ya'll with the figure.(maybe I can get my boyfirend to lend a hand when he comes over: ;D

Thanks Trisha!:)
Ok,tada..ask for help and this is what you get ;D
I tried measuring my hair myself and I got 31 1/2 inches.  I asked by boyfriend to "help" me measure and I got 32 inches!!!  Either way it's along longer than I would have though!!!  Yippee!  I definately want it as long as I can.  Maybe to where I can sit on it(yes, yes,I would be very careful not too)  So here I am and I'll be consistant every month:)

Well today started out ok.....need I think that it would continue that way!!!  I went to an orthepedic guy to find out if there could be anything that I could do to helpmy right leg move better.  Most of it is my MS,but there are a few things to help.  I 10:15am appt. lasted until almost 1pm when I walked out of his office.  Talk about having "ants in your pants" and wanting to hurry and get out of some where that you're stuck in!!!lol
Anyway,in lieu of this today is my boyfriend's birthday and he'll be coming over.  So it is a full day of docto'rs visits, visitor visits and anything else that pops up!!

Really wanted to play with the LL hairsticks I got.  Well, maybe tonight..................

:)  Today starts out much better than yesterday at least.  Today is hairwashing and deep conditioning day.  Add insult to injury it's also medicine day.  Hmmmm, still preparing for the MS walk next month.  My team  is walking again, this is the 6year staight we're walking down by South Street Seaport,NYC.  Hope it's better than the first year....it snowed while we were walking.  What a cold mess it was that day!! ::)  Anway,  I'm still trying to get all the stuff together to make special shirts for the team members to wear this year.  We are known for wearing some crazy hats or shirts.  The team is Kelly's MonSter Kicker's.  (M and S capitalized for the disease and to also kick its *()*)(*() ;D

Hey Curlgirl!  Glad to see you've decided to journal your hairgrowth journey! :)

I've been to South Street Seaport a few times, always on a bus trip though :P.  In fact, the last time we were there was because we went to see the Montel Williams show, his guest was Sylvia Brown (I almost said Sandra Brown!).  It was pretty neat.  I hope you have better weather this year for your MS walk, I know a few people myself battling with MS, what a strange affliction.  I wish you all the best in your recovery and hairgrowth!

maggie :)

Boy oh boy it's close to 5pm est and I just got home.  Went to Jersey today to be with an aunt who had to put her dog down on Monday.  Very sad,Destiny was only 6 years old and faught her liver cancer like she was "Goliath" instead of "David".  Very sad time since the other dog had to be put down last May due to old age and health issues.  I'll try to be more upbeat here......
Weather was very very windy,I swear it almost blew me over a few times!!!! ;D  I think is was close to 70 today, very unusual for east coast right now.
Tomorrow is the MS conference in NYC.  Starting at 9am-2p,m.  Long day, lots of freebies and info.!!!  Who doesn't love freebies?! ;) ;D
Well, not much more to say right now,got lots to do since I wasn't here all day!  Ciao for now!!

I also forgot......picked up the rest of the yarn and some hooks to finish the sweater I'm crocheting.  It's boucle and sometimes a pain to deal with.  The front and back are inished.  I'll be doing the arms tonight while my birds are out playing, the dog is playing and I have the hockey game on. :)

I'm sorry to hear about your aunt's dog.   :(

I'm so impressed that you're crocheting a sweater.  I love to crochet, but my short attention span usually limits me to buncovers and small stuffed animals.  You'll have to post a pic when you're done.   ;D

Thanks you 13bodies. You know it's one day at a time when you loose a pet......
I've never crocheted things for the hair before,do tell.  Maybe I try try to help you get past crocheting the beautiful small stuff.  I've never done a sweater before and wouldn't you know it I follow their instructions for a petite and I run out of yarn and the front looks like it's for a football player!! lol  go figure!  If I ever figure out how to post a pic I'll show you and the group when it's done.

Well, yesterday was the MS conference at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in NYC. I love the layout of the lobby:)  the stores are really nice in there, too.
Same old information about MS still floating around though.  I went to see old faces and catch up.  Met some new nice people, too.  Their breakfast spread is always good,  Plenty of fresh fruit, all kinds of juices and yes even one of the wait staff went searching high and low for soy milk for me!!  He found it ;D  Lunh is always a nightmare there for me.  I asked for just steamed vegetables,no more no less.  What comes out was this pastry puff thing and I just knew it was loaded with cheese.....By the time they got it right, everyone was working on coffee and their dessert.
Anyways, it's raining here today on the eastcoast.  It's soothing and relaxing.  Get ready for the hair frizzies!!! ;D

hey Meg,
As for the Irish part of me ;the green envy part goes both ways,ya know ;) I still think your curls are gorgeous even though you're at a shorter length than me.  You'll get there sooner than you think! :)  As for the rain yesterday, nothing happened to my hair, :o I was expecting frizz city.  Today I washed, conditioned, oiled and let it dry any way it wanted.  Curls are just fine ;D

Went to the neurologist tthis morning....when all wa said and done it was 2 1/2 hours later.  All in all the MS is pretty much where it was for me in November 05 when I was ther last.  It's stable, but I changing meds. to Rebif instead of staying with Avonex.  Long story short,Avonex is 1x a week intramuscular shot I do myself.  Rebif is 3x a week and subcutaneous.  I'll do this myself, too after the training for it.  This Medicare part D has scewed everyone!!!  Young, old, disabled;whoever!!!  It finally reared it's ugly head!!! >:(
This med is around $30,000 a year.  How is anyone supposed to afford that???  Working or not?   :-Xwell,that just means I continue to let my finger do the "walking" on the phone and call different companies that offer assistance with co-pays...the saga continues!!!!
I stopped by the jewelry store to see if the diamond I was having reset was ready.....long story, but ex-finance from 10 years ago broke off engagement and left me the ring.......nice :)  I decided to have it reset in white gold with iolite stones.  So we'll see how it looks come Friday;if it's back from the diamond setter in NYC.  Man,I swear patience is needed waiting for this ring and some LL hairsticks, too!!!
Susan did tell me that she thinks the hairsticks will be shipped out next week.   :) :) Can't wait!!!
My birds and dog are all doing good, considering that I was either on the phone today networking to find help with meds.or at that doctor's offce.
Time to relax!

been rather busy the past 2 days with phone calls, blood work and more phone calls........... ::)  Thursday is shot(medicine) day for me so either the get flu-like symptoms from it or not.  Now I'm going to go on Rebif, that's 3 shots a week and more flu-like symptoms..... ::)  anyway, this medicient costs $27 or 29 thousand dollars a year. :o :o So not working and being on SSDI since 2000,I've called numerous places for seek financial assistance.  Damn Medicare Part D and the drug being sooooooooooo expensive!  Ppff, networking and brainstorming takes a toll on ya for sure!!  It's ok,all will work out for the best....
Anyway, blood work this morning(every 3 months),picked up a ring at jewelry store, went to health food store to pick up Aloe and Jojoba.  Man,that's expensive.  I could only get a 4 oz. bottle of jojoba for $12.  Anyhoo, got calls to make and make and make....thank god I hitched a ride with my mom for some of this stuff!!! :)

Well,it's been crazy the past few days.....I did manage to wash and condition my hair today.  Used Biolage hydrating shampoo and hydrating balm.  I used Ouidad's Balancing Spray in conditioner and some jojoba oil.  In the house my hair is down, loose curls and shiny.  It's ok,but I'm not estatic yet about it.  Maybe tomorrow.  I'll probably put it up in a bun with hairsticks.
I've been thinking of going the Henna Way instead of coloring my grey.  Still too young to go grey, thank god it's silver though and not ugly.  I'm just afraid that any auburn I have it my hair naturally will come out with the henna and I'll either look like Bozo the Clown or from some other planet!!!lol  I'm still thinking about it.
Anybody got some suggestions?? I went of the Morrocmethod.com site to see that they had.  Interesting........

Henna can be a great way to deal with grey hair.  I'd suggest saving your shed hair and test the henna on it.  That way you can see how the grey and other hair will react with the henna coloring.

Hair is in a bun right now with Ketylo corkscrew hairsticks and Purple Zebra LL hairsticks.

Well, another day.  I washed and conditioned my hair yesterday with Garden Botankia Heart shampoo and contioner.  I oiled with jojoba oil then length and the ends.  Used some aloe vera gel to keep it decent while I did a single braid.  It's ok,but I think I'll do a bun today with ketylo sticks.  I'm dying to try a ACV rinse, too.  One step at a time though,I'm still working on getting the henna .  I cringing though because my kitchen sink is not stain-less steel and I don't know what will happen when I rinse.  I think my hair is too long for the kitchen sink anyway.  The bathtub is another story.......does anyone know if there bathtub got stained from the henna????  What do you use to clean it up??
Gotta run,I think my boyfriend is coming over today.

Baking soda is a wonderful cleaner. Just sprinkle it around and rub with a cleaning rag. IMO, it beats all the commercial cleaners.

thanks, much!!!  When I get the henna I'll let ya know how the cleaning, goes.  I've procrastinating because I've heard horror stories about the henna.  My grandmother had Auburn hair and I tend to have reddish highlights in my brunette hair naturally,so All I keep thinking is that my hair would turn red!!!  This is not the look I'm going for. Ahh,trials and tribulations!!!

ok,today I bought my first pair of satin pillowcases!  Ah,the little pleasures in life! ;D  I'll try them tonight to see how they work out.  I'm sure they'll be very good to my hair........speaking of hair I'm still waiting for my hairsticks.  They hopefully should be here no later than Wednesday.
My comb from Ric is not here yet either, bummer :(
Anyway, I picked up a silicone 9x9 square pan for me to make my vegan brownies in.  I think I have enough apples also to make vegan apple crisp...let's see now the night goes....
On to hair,it feels ok,but I'd like to do a self trim..it would be the first time I ever did it.  I need a really good pair of scissors, though.  I see some split ends and am not happy about it since I've been very very good in taking care of my hair.  I guess this is just what happens because it feels like happening.
Since I washed it on Thursday maybe I'll wash it on Sunday or Monday.  Can I use white vinegar instead of apple cider vinegar????  Didn't get a chance to pick ACV up......just curious

Title: Re: Not sure how to start, but here goes!!!
Post by Angel Spun on Mar 25th, 2006 at 7:48pm
Satin pillowcases are nice, aren't they?  ;)  Oh yes...be sure to wash your face every night before sleeping on them. They have a tendency to stick to oily skin.

Distilled white vinegar can indeed be used instead of ACV. I have actually never used ACV - only white, and it works quite well.  ;D

Thanks,Angel.  I've been using Purity Made Simple and Hope in a Jar and it takes off all make-up beautifully :)  Can't wait to try the white vinegar.  How much should I use? when I dilute it,how much water?
P.S.  How are you holding up?

Title: Re: Not sure how to start, but here goes!!!

Trimming is nice. It feels like a start over for your hair. The loss of length can be discouraging, but hang in there.
How are vegan brownies different than the regular kind?
Meg

Title: Re: Not sure how to start, but here goes!!!
Post by Curlgirl64 on Mar 28th, 2006 at 8:19pm
Trimming??Not me!  I did a white distilled vinegar rinse today after shampooing and before conditioning and let's say curls galore!!!!  I think I'll be doing this rinse at least once a week! :)  The satin pillow cases are to die for,the comb from Ric came yesterday,(love, love, love) and the LL hairsticks came today!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D  Got the Geisha Stix,Bridal Stix and the Spiral Stix.  Ah,life is good.
Oh yeah,the vegan brownies,,,,,sorry I got distracted :-[
the difference is that there are no animal products used e.g.-eggs,butter,milk.  I use Steevia instead of sugar, whole wheat flour, soy milk and other ingredients that keep it vegan.  In fact,I don't eat or use any white flour products in my eating lifestyle.  I'd make your head spin with all radical things I do when I bake or cook.  I think coming from 200 pounds and now being 120 pounds and 22% body fat, that's why I am so obsessive with staying as healthy as possible. I've maintained the wieght loss for about 20 years. The MS has alot to do with it,too.
Anyway,if ya ever need any suggestions for treats or cooking, let me know! :)

Well, today was a whirlwind!  When I went to bed last night I had 4 scrunchies down the length of my hair and slept on my satin pillowcase.  My bichon even tried to sneak on it!! ;D  One of the best things I've baught in a long time!  Hair was very curly last night, but this morning it was just wavy.  That's ok,it's easier to put up in a bun.  Used ketylo long hairsticks to put it up while I did all the trying up of boxes for recycle tomorrow.
I really like that vinegar rinse yesterday, too.  Used Dove's moisture shampoo and conditioner,Ouidad's balancing rinse (a tiny bit through the length as a leave in conditioner, jojoba oil and a little aloe vera gel and voila! I was finished!  I think when/if it gets past my butt my routine is going to take a long long time.  I figure anything worth doing may take a long time! :)
I think tomorrow I'll play and use one of the sets of LL hairsticks I got yesterday...............

The brownies sound interesting and complicated. I don't think I could be vegan, but I'm glad it floats your boat.
I have noticed that my ACV rinses do wonderful things to my hair too. Keep up the good work.

Thanks,Meg!  The brownies are pretty easy.  If you want I'll look  for a recipe for ya and post it.  Just let me know if you ever want to try them.  My family expecially my mother is the biggest critic about my food, but she never complains about my muffins or brownies!! :)

Ok,now it's all over.............I ordered another pair of hairsticks yesterday!! ;D  These are the Japanese Sky Original Hairsticks.  I think I have about 9 sets and 1 Geisha.  Had a partial bun yesterday with ketylo hairsticks and it looks ok,but after talking with Susan(aka-Rapunzel) I took all of my hair and put it in a high ponytail, braided it and then put it in a bun.  Wonderful!!!  It not only stayed up it looked pretty good, too!  Same thing this morning.  Tomorrow I'll wash it,deep condition it and oil it.

Slight change of plans,  I did wash my hair with Ouidad's Curly shampoo for kids(don't ask,it just works for me!)  THen I used Ouidad Curly Conditioner, alittle jojoba oil on length and ends, aloe vera gel and it now sits on top of my head in a huge alligator(?) clip.  Feels ok,nothing like when I did the vinegar rinse last week.  I'll take it down in a little while and then let it air dry all day.  Should be wavy and curly.
Hopefully my other set of Ketylo hairsticks will be here today........
Oh, very little hot water today, don't know why,it was 6am!!!!  So a very very cold rinse,I swear my scalp got goose bumps!!  lol  I better have lots of shine from that ordeal!

Slept in pig tails last night.  Very comfortable;better than a single braid.  Think I'll do that again tonight.  I think I need a trim and since I don't think I had any growth this month,(I'm afarid to measure it)  but I will today or tomorrow.....I want to go for a trim on the 28th(new moon)  to see if this does anything for growth :-/  Since joining the board,I'm hesitant about letting anyone touch my hair let alone trim it.  I don't think the place I've been going to is very careful with hair,so maybe I'll try to trim it myself.  I'll think about it and invest in a good pair of scissors for this.
I may wash, acv and condition today or tomorrow.
Feel very crampy today,so "it's that time of the month" again, which started late yesterday afternoon.

ok,since there are birds outside my a/c,they start chirping at 4:30am,which starts my birds inside chirping!!!  Man,I am tired! ::)  Anyway, roofer is supposed to come either today or tomorrow;depending on when it will rain.  He'll put 2x4's under the front a/c and the one I have in the back room.  It's a little difficult since I have the apartment in my mom's 2 family house.  I'm on the top floor so someone getting up on a ladder in always a worry if they were to fall..
Anyway,6am I'm on my Pilates Performer, today is Lower Body, later this afternoon or tonight I'll be doing my Yoga practice and meditation.  The dog likes to join me for meditation! :)
Hair:  It's up to day in a twisted bun.  I had it in pig tails to sleep last nigh.  Still very comfortable.  I'll take it down later and do a twisted bun with LL hairsticks or keylo sticks.
Today is a relax and take it easy day.  More so after yesterday's medication.  Flu-like symptoms were not too bad this time.
Still waiting for NORD's to let me know if I got approval for money to help with new meds.  Rebif is going to cost about $27-29000 a year.  Holy Cow!!! :o

Yeah, birds are funny creatures. My family has always had at least one and I am determined not to ever have one of my own.

Way to be on top of your exercise.  :) I have a hard time motivating myself to get it done on my own. I'm taking a work out class right now, but once school stops, I am doing to have a harder time getting my butt in gear. :P

Never fear Meg,you'll do it.  Once it becomes a habit,it's like you're breathing.
Before MS I was an aerobics instructor(in the 90's),runner and body builder.  After MS,I went to Yoga Spectrum to learn how to be a Hatha Yoga Teacher (teaching on the mat and in a chair for people with disabilities.  I cringed when people say,oh you're a yoga instructor.  No,I'm a yoga teacher, there's a difference.  The Pilates,I've been doing for about 10 years and if it weren't for the yoga and pilates,I'd be in a wheelchair.  Yes,ok all the other stuff from years ago is a major benefit today.  So you can do it and once you feel the endorphins kick in;you'll be hooked!  Whatever you enjoy doing!  P.S>  The yoga is not exercise,it's a different kind of breathing and engages a different system in your body compared to other activities.
THe man came to put wood under both a/.c's Yeah!!!  Now my birds will be quiet in the early morning!
LL sticks came today, too!!!  Japanese Sky original hairsticks are stunning!!

Well, sure enough those pesky birds were at my air conditioner again this morning and yesterday morning. >:(  I just don't know what to do short of screaming my head off at them.  They chirp, which in turn wakes up my birds, which wakes up my dog, hence I"M UP AT 4:30am!!  It's still dark out,I thought those birds would at least wait until sunlight! :o ::)
Anyway, washed hair and conditioned it yesterday with GB Heart Shampoo and conditioner.  It's time to deep condition, that's for sure.  Although it was curly and felt decent,I think it's time to deep condition it.  Had a partial top bun with ketylo sticks today and yesterday.
Since my grandmother was over for Palm Sunday dinner she decided to make her crosses with the palms my mother brought home from church.  I tell ya,at 94 years old that woman still makes beautiful crosses out of the palm leaves.  She made one for me while I sat with her.  I still have some of the crosses she made me over the years and even though they are dried out and some of them cracked,I cherish them dearly.
Well.the hockey game is just about to begin(Rangers and Devils) so I'm off to watch that compare notes on it with my boyfriend.  He was here today and made me a beautiful decopage vase.  Today was a very nice day! ;D

I am going out of my mind with those damn birds outside my a/c.  Talk about a NY attitude!!!  There is nothing short of flinging something at them to move away from my a/c.  I went outside and sure enough there was one sitting on top of the 2x4's that were placed under the a/c!  He looked like Budda all smooshed down under the a/c!!  It then went behind the wood.  I swear I told this roofer I want the wood flush up against the window so nothing could get in there.  This roofer is supposed to come back either today or tomorrow to "fix this" problem.  I am on my last nerve with these pests!!!!  The saga continues!

Geeze. They are persistant.  :P Are they sitting on the a.c. for a reason: heat, a seat or something? You may have to put something on top to prevent them from sitting there: glass, needles or something. Good luck solving your bird problem.
I've done a little yoga, but nothing offical. It was more stretching the muscles (an external thing) than having to do with the state of mind (an internal thing)

Do you know the style of yoga you were practicing?  Curious and if it benefitted you, even better :)
As for those damn birds outside!!!  They crawl  behind the 2x4 's placed there to keep them away.  Then shove them selves up against the a/c and window.  Unbelievable!!  I swear they are contortionists!  The roofer hasn't called to say when he's coming today,so I'll be on the phone again soon to find out where he is!  Because the window is far from the second window in the front of the house I can't open the 2nd one and put something on the a/c window.  There are 3 windows in that room.  I'll have to either brainstorm or come up with a plan to rid them forever.  I know my birds are annoyed at getting up at 4:30am!!!

Well,it was a late shower and hair washing day.  I did wash my hair with Ouidad's Curly shampoo, white vinegar rinse and Ouidad's Curly conditioner.  Put it up in a twisted bun with a huge clip for a few hours.  Just to keep it out of the way.  I used a little jojoba oil and aloe vera gel when I put it up,almost didn't want to take it down, but boy I'm glad I did.  Curls galore(for today anyway)  I'll braid it later in pig tails before going to bed.  It got colder outside this afternoon,so I'm in while my hair air drys.
Glad I did my Pilates and Cardio Board early this morning before washing my hair.  Works out much better.

I'm really happy with Ouidad's products.  So far I've tried the Curl Quencher and Playcurl shampoos, condidtioners and styling gel/mousse (respectively).  I bought the christmas package that also had the botanical boost and deep treat.  I've ordered the clarifying shampoo and light condidtioner (can't remember what they're called) so I'll be trying them soon.  I am enjoying having wavy hair more than ever in my whole life.  Now...just waiting for the length to come.

What's your favorite?

Post by Curlgirl64 on Apr 12th, 2006 at 7:55pm
Well,so far the balancing rinse is great for alittle leav-in conditioner.  The deep treatment(expensive) is the bomb! :)  It's a tie between the shampoo for curly kids and the one for moisture(can't remember the name of the shampoo) :-/  all in all the products are good.  A long time ago I used to use Nexxus Therappe and Humectress and they were fantastic for my hair.  It was shorter then and curlier, probably 12 inches shorter than now.  I might have to go back to that for a change.
Glad you're enjoying your waves ;D

I really have no idea of what kind of yoga it was. It was a type that we just stood in a position for a while until we couldn't do it anymore and then tried another position. It may be yoga in name only. I don't know. It was cool because of the muscles I was discovering that I didn't know I had.  :D

Man oh man,I can't believe so much time has passed since I last wrote.  It's been very busy with my mom on vacation.  She'll be back maybe tomorrow, just in time for the MS Walk on Sunday, too.
Between always checking the burner, setting the alarm and just making sure all is ok in her part of the house,it hasn't left me much time for computer stuff.
Anyway, washed my hair today with Biolage hydrating shampoo and condtioned it with Biolage Hydrating Balm.  Air dried while I took the dog to the vet for her annual shots.  Even got a $100 pledge from the vet for the MS Walk.  WooHoo! ;D
So far all is quiet with the pup...Last year she was soo sick after her shots, she really scared me.  So far so good.
I came home with Access-A-Ride(I call it Stress-A-Ride) they took me there too.  Put my hair up in a top knot with ketylo sticks and kicked back to relax.  Hair feels good and loose curls.  I'll braid it later.
Made Salmon for dinner and had some spinach with it.  All is good.
Still debating about doing that trim.............I'll either have to do it or not, time will tell................
later

Well,so much for the MS Walk.  We didn't go because Grandma is in the hospital and it doesn't look good :(.   I haven't gone, but those that did say she doesn't look good.  I say,"you don't know Grandma!"  She wants to make it to 100 and we have "plans" to sit on the porch and go for a ride in the wheelchair and my scooter.  The hospital is about 1/2 hour away and she's in that one because that's where her doctor is assigned.  I'm afraid to go to see her #1 because I don't want to see my Grandmother in that state and #2 I'm not sure what it would do to me regarding my MS symptoms.  I can say that I can handle this, but it MS decides to rear it's ugly head and cause an exaserbation, well then I'll be pissed! >:(
Either way,I'll know more later.  It's pouring rain here so I'm in now with the pup who is recooperating from the vet's visit on Friday for her shots.  Life goes on.........

Thanks you Angel!  I'm hoping for the best and maybe expecting the worse.  Do you ever get the feeling that if you tell them they "promised" you to sit on the porch or go shopping with you or have tea or coffee with you that that will make them want to recover???  I just want to tell her she "promised" and so did I and maybe things will turn around.  Wishful thinking??? :-/
I'm working on the rain for you ;D

I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother.  I will say a pray for her that she can live to her goal and the two of you can sit on the porch together and go for your rides!

I'm also sorry that you were not able to make the MS walk.  I know you were looking forward to it.  If I can get my ankle rehab'd fast enough, maybe I can do the MS bike ride for you this spring.

Can't say that I ever had that feeling, no. It might give her something to strive for, but it also might make her feel guilty that she couldn't keep her promise if things take a turn for the worse (which I hope & pray they don't). Of course, you know your grandmother better than I do, so it's your call.
I hope for the best for and you and your family.

There are chances of isolated showers here throughout the week, but...I want thunder & lightning, dangit!  ;D

Thank you ladies for your thoughts and prayers :)  I went to the hospital today and Grandma was quite lucid ;D  I reminded her of the porch and she said she remembered and she promised that we would "sit on the porch, breathe the air and have coffee.  She even wants to paint my nails ;D  The pulmonary Dr. must have given her something good cuz she was better than the day before.  We had a very nice conversation and my mother was shocked that she wanted to talk to me so much.    She even barked her orders for me to stay put when the nurse came in to check on her.
I tell ya it's a big relief and I am hopeful that she can come home soon.  No one knows when, but I told her she has no choice,I'm waiting.  She said she didn't want to disapoint me.  I will tell her you all are praying for her and I'm sure she will say God Bless you all.  That's Grandma!!
BB,thanks for wanting to do the ride for me,I appreciate it!  If you're up to it I hope the wind is at your back and the sun shines on your face(but not too strong,we don't want you burned)
Well,it's been a busy long day and I am pooped!  Thanks again for all your well wishes! :)

Thanks,BB.  It really made me feel better.  Sounds like of strange, weird and selfish that I should feel better after seeing her.  I went to make her feel better!  Oh well,I think that's what Moms and Grandmothers do :)  Anywho, one of my aunts came in from North Carolina to see my grandma while my mother is trying to feel better with her back.  We went to a Rumatologist(spelling?) and thank God she doesn't have it,but she's on Prednisone and some other stuff and seeing the Chiropractor.  I didn't want to tell her about the Prednisone, but just a few of the details of what it does.  Needless to say she is not a happy camper :o  She had a couple of negative things to say about it,but hey it's only for 10 days and hopefully will give her relief.  I told her just wait until I can get her on the mat for a yoga class and I'll fix her right up ;D ;D

Well,my mother is a worse patient than my grandmother!!! ::)  Thank God her meds. knock her out most of the time ;D  She is her own worst enemy!!!
Anywho,Grandma is being released from the hospital tomorrow morning.  WooHoo ;D  She really  rallied and the meds are doing their job at clearing up this infection in her lungs.
I did manage to find time to get a trim today.  Don't know if I'm happy with it.  It looks better, but I don't know if it's good.  The ends are starting to curl instead of relaxing.  Could be the weather though.  I'll know better after I see it tomorrow morning.
Just for fun I measured it when I got home and even though I had a trim it measured 33 inches.  Either I'm not measuring correctly or I should just let someone else measure.  I'll see what the number is at the beginning of May.  It is possible that it did grow maybe a half an inch or so.
The "pup" is just fine after the groomer's yesterday.  I think it was all just too exciting for her and she needed to have "down time".  Birds all well, too.

Today is a good day.  Supposedly Grandma is coming home from the hospital!!!  Yippee!!!  Can't wait to go and see her.
The mailman brought 2 pairs of LL sticks today!  Another yippee!! ;D  They are beautiful!  Spinning Tanzanite is one of them and the other is Glimmering Rose(I need to double check on the name of that one).  Very pretty.  Can't wait to try them out.  Now all I am waiting for are the other two pairs of LL sticks,a pair of stainless steel stix from Ron,ketylo sticks and a two pronged hair pin from Emily.  I've had way too much fun this week!!!  Guess I needed my spirits picked up after the grandma ordeal.  Thank God she's coming home!

Before it gets too busy for me today with Mom's back and Grandma's broom-haha with the nurse;I'll put my hair measurement for May here.  Since I had not had a trim since January or Februay;I went last Thursday for a trim and this morning the length is 30 1/2 inches.  So not so bad,at least the split ends are off and it really doesn't look like any length is gone at all.  I ordered some mango butter, coconut oil, shea butter and cocoa butter last week from Mystify your senses.  Should be here soon.  I'm anxious to try the coconut oil to see if my hair likes it.  Alot of stuff is comin in the mail between hairsticks, oil, jewelery case, steel stix and lots of other hair toys!!!  Can't wait!!  I also picked up a new shampoo ,conditioner and deep conditioner.  Pantene Pro V for curly hair.  Never tried the stuff so on Thursday when I wash, acv rinse, condition and deep condition I'll see how my hair likes that, too.  Saw a commerical on tv for some new shampoo, conditioner and deep conditioner from Dove.  Has anyone tried it yet or used it??  It strengthens hair and reduces split ends.  Had I seen this before picking up the Pantene I would have gotten that.  Later!!

Well,Access-A-Ride deserves the name Stress A Rdie for sure!  The driver drove right past me on the pick up trip from the eye doctor's!  I waited to see if he'd come back, but noooooooooo!  I had to go back into the eye doctor's office and call to find out where he went.    When all was said and done I got home at 1:30pm.  I was picked up in the morning at my house to go at 9:35am.  Thank God when I came home there was a package from LL!! ;D  Last week I got Glimmering Rose hairsticks and Spinning Tanzanite Hairsticks.  Today I got Penumbra and Crackling Embers hairsticks.  Very pretty!!!  The bird food came and a bird toy for the babies, too!  So now 25 lbs. of bird food should hold my 5 tiels for a while!! 8)
I am beat,so Ciao for now!

Can't wait to open the hairsticks and use them tomorrow on my wet or damp hair!

Oh before I forget hairtoys came again today!!!!!  Yesterday it was the stainless steel hairsticks,I like I like!  Today the ketylo sticks and the hairpin came.  I haven't opened them yet.  I washed and deep condtioned with Pantene Pro V Intensive Care for Curls.  It's ok,nothing fantastic though.  Next time I'll leave the deep conditioner in longer and see what happens.  I used the SS sticks in a top bun this morning after washing my hair.  I really like them for wet or damp hair.  Also the jewerly box came to hold all my LL sticks and the jewelry roll for my mother for Mom's day.  I didn't open it to look at it because I want to be surprised like her.
Since "Aunt Flo" is here and it was medicine day today,I am not feeling so fantastic.  I'll write more later.  Oh does anyone have any suggestions about a recipe for cocoa butter and mango butter ??  I got some from Mystify Your Senses yesterday and I don't have a recipe to use for either one of them in my little box of recipes. Any ideas sure would help.

I decided to do a little mixing here and there and come up with my own mix of kaos!! ;D  I washed my hair with the Pantene Pro V Intensitve whatever for Curls, did a white vinegar rinse, mixed Ouidad's Deep Treatment and put that on my ends, put Pantene's Deep Treatment for Curls all over and on the ends.  Wrapped my hair up in a Turbie Twist( with the botton on it for closing)sat in my inversion chair with heat and massage for an hour and watched Charmed!  Then I rinsed everything out really well and put some Pantene Conditioner for Curls all over and on the ends and rinsed that out.  I finally finished with a cold water rinse!!! ;D
Now for the special mix.......
I finger comb my hair, then wide tooth comb it carefully.....I had mixed some Rosemary EO,Lavender EO,Rose EO and some Sage EO in Jojoba Oil!  Put that on the ends of my hair, alittle all through my hair and braid it and go to bed!!!
Talk about shine,no frizz and hair that feels great!!!!  ;D ;D  I may do more of this next week!!!

I washed my hair this morning with Dove Therapy, used Apple Cider Vinegar instead of White Vinegar and then used Dove's Therapy conditioner.  I put my hair up with 2 Ez-Buns and let it air dry.  I also used shea oil with the E O of rosemary, lavender and sage that I concocted before putting up my hair.  Came out well.  I had to take it down because the two Ez-Buns weren't holding up my hair,it's too long now and too thick.  I did a top bun with one of them and it worked fine.  I bought these last year at a craft show in NJ.  I called the girl in CA that makes them and ordered two more yesterday.  Now I have my hair in a top bun with a steel stix and the rest of it is all curly and behaving.  Surprising because we're supposed to get rain later tonight.  Oh well.... the frizz will be her soon enough! :(
I'll be braiding my hair later before bed so hopefully it won't be totally out of control!

I can't believe so much time has gone by without me dropping a line or two ;D  more like a paragraph!! lol
I spent part of yesterday afternoon with my grandmother sitting on her front stoop(stairs).  Alittle nerve rattling since she's 94 and I was alittle afraid she'd have trouble trying to sit on the stairs.  She did just fine.  I promised her today that I would paint her nails.  She loves red!  I wanted to paint them a pale pink,so we'll see if she go for it.  A nice change is ok.
I washed my hair with morning with Dove mixed with frationated coconut oil and shea oil(just a little),a couple of drops of e o rosemary, sage and lavender.  Smells good.  Then I used Biolage hydrating balm and cold rinsed.  I oiled the ends and length with alittle more oil, wide tooth combed and then used an EZ bun in a creamsicle color to match my outfit.  I only did a top bun and let the rest air dry.  Alittle aloe vera gel and viola!!!  I'm off to paint grandma's nails!!!!!

Aww, have fun at your grandmother's, Curlgirl!  :)

I too am a fan of red nail polish. In high school, I always strove to find the perfect shade of metallic blood. In my early 20's, I started applying a dense red glitter shade over that ala Dorothy's ruby slippers.  ;)  But I hate glitter.  :P  So now when it comes to red, I have the deepest shade of congealed blood burgundy...creams are much less of a hassle.

But pink works too, if you have the colouring for it.  ;D

Hi Angel,
I too looked for the "perfect" shade of deep red.  I did like Ruby Slippers, too.  When my nails were long, the darker the red the better!!  I'm not a real fan of glitter either!

I think because of the humidity yesterday my hair felt like something from out of this world.  I decided to just condition it this morning.  So after Pilates I wide toothed combed it out with my wooden comb and conditioned it with Ouidad's Balancing Rinse.  Feels much better.  I oiled the ends and length, used alittle of Ouidad's gel, can't remember the name of it.  Hey,at 6:30am I'm lucky I don't stumble into the shower!!!
I put my hair up in a bun with steel stix I got from e-bay.  Ron Quattro has some nice ones.  I used 4 though.  I think I need 6 inches instead of the 5 inches.  Oh well, live and learn.  I like them because you can use them when your hair is wet, damp or oiled.
The spiraled ones are nice, but I wish they were 6 inches.
Later!

It'll be a busy day today.  I am off to my sister's and broher-in-law's house for a get together.  It'll be hot today so I have my hair up in a braided bun with black ketylo sticks and Glimmering Rose LL sticks.  I should be cool enough like this plus sandals, skort and tee shirt.
Thank God there are alot of trees for shade in their backyard.
I'll leave an a/c on for the dog and birds while I'm gone.  Hopefully it will be cool enough when I get home to sleep without one of the a/c's.
Gotta go!

I've been alittle busy,so aside from a wee bit of guilt from not journaling,I do some now.
I've done some cooking over the past few days so if the kitchen gets too hot, well then I'm cooked!(Pun intended!)  My symptoms get aggravated and the exaustion kicks in and then I'm good for nothing else.
The rain has been unbelievable the past few days,so there's always a possibility of a flood in the house.  Thanks God it didn't happen this time......
I've been practicing with my hair over the past few days and dicovered that I am not as bad as I thought when trying to do a single braid without a ponytail holder!!  Small wonders never cease to amaze me  LOL ;D
Anytime that I had tried to do a braid without putting my hair in a ponytail first always looked like a disaster.  This time I tried holding 2 seperate pieces in my right hand while holding one piece in my left.  Mind you I did have to bring everything forward to finish it because my hair is very long(keep growing!)  When I finished and turned around with a mirror to look in another mirror,I was pleasantly surprised to see it looked good!! :o 8) ;D
Alas it was to sleep in and not for the daytime.
During the daytime I've been wearing my hair in a bun with ketylo sticks and either LL sticks or stainless steel sticks.  I've gotten used to 3 or 4 sticks at a time and it looks good, not overly done.
Well,I've got an auction on e-bay in a few hours so I'm off.  I've won 3 out of 4 bids.  The only reason I didn't win one was because my computer crashed because of the rain, thunder and lightening.  That bidder got away with murder on the price, too! Well, not tonight if the weather doesn't wreak havoc with computer!
see you later!!

A little celebrating for the victory of winning those Purple Pearl hairsticks last night!  Whoever I was bidding against had in her "profile" that she LOVED anyting purple and collected hairsticks.  Well she did not challenge my max bid so I won them at $41.  Not too bad!  Anyway, I decided to try a little experiment of my own this morning.  I washed my hair with Dove Therapy shampoo(the newest one out I think) and then used Dove Therapy conditioner with Biolage balm.  Hair feels pretty good.  I wide toothed combed it,oiled it with shea oil, fractionated coconut oil, e o rosemay, lavender and sage, used alittle Ouidad gel and put it all up in a bun.  We'll see how it dries and feels later.  I did notice that when I use Ouidad gel,my hair takes longer to air dry.  I believe this is because it probably has cones in.  I use it because it is for controlling the humidity and frizzies.....

I am sooooooooooooo tired of this rain and gloom.  Can somebody pleeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaassssse send me some sunshine???!!!!  Today is going to be cloudy (again) and a possibility of a rain shower....... sigh
At least my hair like the stuff I did to it yesterday.  It feels good, calm and easier to put up in a bun today!
Not much to tell today,so I bid ya'll adeau!

Here's how to deal with the gloom:

Find a pretty glass vase about 4" tall.
Collect ALL your pretty hairsticks.
One very bright light.

Arrange the hairsticks in the vase like flowers and shine the bright light on your sticks.  Look at all the pretty sparklies!!  ;D

ok, so it isn't real sunshine, but it a fun activity on a gloomy day.  8)

Wow, Curlgirl, how 'bout we trade? I'll take your rain and "gloom" as you call it any freaking time over the sweltering SoCal sun. The whole bright, happy, hot, sunny CA stuff is totally not my thing.  :P  You're perfectly welcome to it if I can somehow push it over to ya.

Ok,so it's not raining here,yet......it is supposed to until Friday or Saturday.hmmmmmmmmmmmmm ::)
Well, either way I washed my hair this morning with Dove mixed with the essentail oils of Lavender,Rosemary and Sage.  It does smell nice!  I did an ACV rinse and then Biolage Balm.  Rinsed with cold water, yikes!!! :o  That sure does wake you up in the morning!!!  I'm using waterproof hairsticks that I picked up on e-bay.  They are 6 inches and blue and ebony.  I really need 7 or  7 1/2 inches for my bun,but these could work for a top bun.  I did oil with Shea Oil,fractionated coconut oil and and e/o lavender, rosemary and sage(only a couple of drops of e/o)  Feels clean and good.  I also got 3 other pairs of these waterproof sticks in cocobolo, rosewood burgundy, purple pearl(pretty!) I'm waiting for blue and red, pink ivory with rose quartz toppers and of course Silver Bubbles LL sticks some time in the middle of the month!!!!  I've been busy with buying hairtoys!!!  I won't be bored for a long time!!!!!!!
Later! ;D
P.S.   I am waiting for Ida from Chagrin Valley to call me back with some info. I order samples of soap bars and shampoo bars and can't wait until the order goes through!!!!!!!!!!  Patience is such a virtue! :P

Title: Re: Not sure how to start, but here goes!!!
Post by Curlgirl64 on Jun 12th, 2006 at 6:46pm
Woooooooooooo  Hoooooooo!  The soap bars and Shampoo bars are here from Ida!!  Can't wait to try them all.  I have this feeling though that I will still need conditioner after the shampoo bar.  Why?  Because if I have to use 7 drops of oil on the length and the ends of my hair,I definately am going to need conditioner so I don't look like I stuck my finger in the shocket!! ::)  I am also waiting for a chrochet poncho kit that I won on E-bay.  Like I NEED to make another poncho!!!  I made 7 or 8 already.  Crocheting is so relaxing.  I can do it while deep conditioning and sitting under the bonnet dryer.  Speaking of which I think I need to do a deep conditioning treatment tomorrow.  I am noticing that since I am using my oil concoction with sage in it,my hair is staying dark.  I am collecting hair though so I can get some henna samples.  I am going to get samples for a no-color henna and also a dark brown henna.
All in all we'll see what turns out from all of this............

And here's the update on one of the shampoo bars!   I used the Lavemder Rpsemary Aloe Shampoo Bar and did a ACV rinse without conditioner........the results were really good!!  I was surprised that my hair was not a tangled mess either.  I oiled my ends and length, put a little Ouidad gel in it and a touch of balancing conditioner in it to smooth it out and so far so good.  I put it all up in a bun and I'm prety sure that all the rest of the shampoo and conditioner bottles are going to collect dust!!!!!!!!!  I'm very pleased with Ida's shampoo bar and I have 2 more to try plus 7 of the soap bars.  I'll be busy taking notes and enjoying the great smells these bars have!!!

ok,ok,it's been a while, but while it's HHH outside,I've been not too well with this weather.
THis morning I washed my hiar twice with the shampoo bar(still love this bar!) then I used Ouidad's Curly Conditioner (just alittle),used my oil mix and aloe vera gel and all up in a bun with Dymondwood Hazelnut Ketylo Sticks.  These sticks are waterproof and absolutely beautiful!!!  They hold my hair well and are really pretty!!
Now I need to just relax and try to feel better!  More later!

The shampoo bar is still working out wonderfully.  I shampooed with it 2x yesterday and used the Ouidad Curly Conditioner like I said, but later on I was reading the journals and someone said they wanted to try someone's leave-in spray.  I can't remember the girl's names, but I made this concoction......1 Tbsp. fresh aloe vera gel(from the plant),1 Tbsp. Jojoba oil,1/2 cup water,a few drops of e/o lavender, rosemary, sage and Texas Cedarwood.  Put it all in a spray bottle and shook it up and sprayed away last night and this morning.  I like this recipe, especially with the humid weather.  I find I have alittle more control of my hair when it goes crazy because of the frizzies!!!  Not a good thing when you start to look like you stuck your finger in a socket!!! :o ::)  More later!!!

Woo Hoo!!  I found Bunjii Hair Ties on e-bay!!!  3 for $9.95!!!!  Finally!!!  I've been doing alot of bidding and winning on e-bay for crochet hooks, totes, crochet poncho kit and specail hairsticks made of olivewood from Bethelehem.  I couldn't believe I found them!!!  I also found sating scrunchies which are not here yet and I bought them on the 12th.  They are coming from Canada and if they are not her by Fri.  I'm going to have to give negative feedback.  I e-mailed the women twice and she still hasn't gotten back to me. >:(  Not cool.
Anyway, washed hair with shampoo bar and conditioned with Ouidad's Curly conditioner.  Alittle bit of my oil mix and up in a top bun with Ozark Hairsticks Madras.  Very hot today too.
Heat has aggravated my  symptoms so much so I'm off to rest up......again.......  oy!  this heat is killing me!!!! ::)

Yikes!!!!!!!!!!!!  The humidity is disgusting!!! :o  My hair is so out of control today, even in a braid.  I think it needs a major ACV rinse or a deep conditioning to calm these frizzies!!!!
One of my girlfriends gave me a bottle of Ojon moisturizing mist.  It smells ok and really helps calm things down.  You spray it on your ends and all over really.  Massage your scalp and style as usual.  Not too much though or you get  that greasy look and feel. :-[  It's raining here again!!!!!!!!  No sun expected until maybe Friday.  *sigh* it's only Monday and it's been raining on and off since the middle of last week!!!!!!

I am so jealous! It's been in the 90's here all week.

Angel, Holy Moly!  That's too hot!! :o  Everyone must live with A/C 24/7!!!!
I got those Bunjiis for my hair yesterday!!!  Woo Hoo!  Can't wait to try them!  I've ben getting alot of my stuff delivered that I won on E-Bay!  I think I have about 5 more things coming not including the LL hairsticks that should be here anyday!..........  They are the Silver Bubbles hairstix, can't wait to see them up close!
I also got approval last Thursday in the mail from PAN to help with the expense of my new med that I'll be starting tomorrow!  Have to go the hospital to be trained to do subcu injections.  I've been doing my own intermuscular injections for almost 7 years.  It's funny, next month would have marked 7 years that I' taking Avonex and now I'm going on Rebif.  This is going to be 3 times a week instead of once a week.  So now I'll probably feel like I have the flu 3 times a week instead of 1day out of the week. ::) :P  I think the med is 3 or 4 times the dose of what I'm taking now,so this should proof to be interesting!!
Any way for the hair, with all this rain and humidity my hair has felt like I don't know how to describe it other than eeeeeeeeeeeeeuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!  I was so glad to wash and deep condition it after I did my Pilates Practice.  Feels better.  It's in a bun and I feel like I can breathe better!  Strange as that sounds, but when my hair feels like the way it did before I washed it I feel like I don't breathe or am centered properly. :-/  it's a yoga thing!  Best as I can say.  Anyway, gotta go!

lol Boy can I relate to that!  ;)  No, seriously. My skin has no melanin in it, so I literally get burnt standing in the sun for 10 seconds. Plus, the meds I'm on expressly forbid direct contact with the sun. I rely on the shade and the safety of the night. And also on very high SPF.  :P  I can only imagine how it must be with MS.

Thank you so much for your "cool air" wishes.  :)  It's actually supposed to rain here tomorrow.

Today is an ulta curly day!!!  I washed my hair with the shampoo bar,Rosemary Lavender and Aloe.  I then used some Ouidad curls for kids condish.  Oiled the ends with my "oil mixture" sprayed alittle Ojon oil ( I forget the full name of it) and used some aloe vera gel and viola!!! Cascading loose curls all over!!! ;D  This is a pic for the digital camera and then when I figure out how to post it I'll be showing it!  All else is calm here for now....a few fireworks, but nothing ultra loud yet.  They are illegal in NY,but it seems that alot of people light them off anyway.  My poor dog and birds take a few days to recover from the noise :(

Curlgirl64-

Please forgive me for butting in here, but I was reading that you're switching from Avonex to Rebif and I wanted to wish you luck.

I don't have MS but I work for a neurologist who has many MS patients.  We have patients on all the different MS drugs except Tysabri (which will be making it's return soon....)

Anyway, just wanted to wish you the best and prayers for keeping further exacerbations away! ;D

hey Nanc,
thank you so much and you are not butting in!! :)  I've wanted to jot in a little note to you ,but thought you might think I WAS butting in!!!lol
The switch was so easy it was funny regarding Avonex vs. Rebif.  Going from intermuscular to subcu is a "piece of cake"! I've always done my own shots and Im glad I am able to.  I'm on the tritration pack so it feels like I'm not taking anything, but when I get up to 144 mcg I'm sure the flu like symptoms will be back with a vengence! :(
Yes Tysabri is due back soon.  I was skeptical before the tragedies and I am now.  I don't particularly like that drug, but opinion only here.
Feel free to jump in to see me on the boards anytime ;D

Well it's been a while, but things have been  busy!  Went to a Cyclones baseball game last night in Coney Island,it was good.  They won 5-4 and the weather was beautiful!  Thank God for hairsticks because it was alittle windy!  Washed with a new shampoo bar yesterday,I think it was Rosemary Lavender.  Very nice.  Did a vinegar rinse and alittle conditioner.  Oiled the ends and sprayed all with Ojon Moisturizing Mist.  Put it all up in a bun and there it stayed until late last night.  The game ended about 10pm and I was home by 10:20 so I  just braided it and went to bed.
It's alittle humid today so I kept my hair up in a bun again.  We'll see what tomorrow brings.

I think you are an inspiration as are other women who give birth!!  I'm a dog mom and a bird mom so knowing what I  do for the non-humans makes me give you high praises for what you do raising children!!

Promise not to laugh?  My ex(years ago) brought home a tiny little red eared slider turtle.  She was adorable, but 5 years later she got so big and hence her name was Shorty Too Ugly!!  I skeeved her,but I would feed her and my ex would clean her tank and wash her shell.  Needless to say the guy is gone about 7 years and I'm sure Shorty is still ugly, but healthy!!!
That's wonderful you have pets, too!  They teach kids responsibility and appreciation for something other than humans. :)

Hey, I'm a dog-mom too!  ;D  She is truly, so, so spoiled, I call her my dog-ter (get, it? like daughter, but dog-ter...ok, I'll give up on that one! :P)

And, coincidentally, I used to have a red eared slider turtle, too, his name was Rikki.  :)  I eventually gave him to my aunt to take back to NC with her, she had some nice property and a pond for him to live in & I was ready to move into my new home and didn't want to take him along.  Bad turtle mom, I know, but it was a lot of up-keep and germy and stinky, so I decided to give him a better home.  Wonder if he's still alive...?

I wish you all the best with you med transition, hopefully it won't have you feeling too down and out.

Hi Curlgirl :),

Im not familiar with those turtles, but we have a box turtle or land turtle. Are those turtles supposed to be in water?  The ones in water i  read carry salmonella.  :-/

You are a very strong person! I am such a baby, yesterday i went to give myself shots and i got teary eyed. Any tips for giving yourself shots?  It still hurts everytime.

Ok as for the land or box turtle, they like the land so much better than the water.  The sliders are supposed to be semi-aquatic. Shorty preferred to stay in the water 99% of the time.  I think the box turtles are not so "icky" as the water turtles.  I probably would have liked a tortoise, painted or box turtle better.  Oh well.
Now as for the shot stuff.....are you doing subcu or intramuscular.  My guess is that it's subcu.  If it is you are to pinch up the skin and then use a dart like light thrust, once the needle is in release the hand holding the skin, push on the syringe to get the meds. into you and when it is empty pull the syringe straight up and out.  You can use alittle ice in a plastic bag on the site before and after the shot to numb the area.  If there is anything else I can tell you or help you with, please let me know and I'll help ya :)  I don't want you to be distressed about  this,it will go ok and you'll be a pro and not think twice about it in no time! :)

Thanks for the tips Curlgirl! I particularly liked the one about using ice before and after the shots.  thanks.

It's supposed to be the start of a heat wave here on the eastcoast,so I am going to be like a vampire all week, being inside and staying cool(I hope!)  Hey,nothing wrong with being a vamp as long as you're cool. ;D
This morning I washed my hair twice with Rosemary Mint shampoo bar and then watered down the remaining Ouidad's Curls Conditioner.  Oiled the ends and length with "my oil mix",sprayed on Ojon's Restorative Mist and used alittle aloe vera gel.  I wanted to keep it loose and down while it air dried, but I was getting early morning company and decided to single braid it instead.  Oh well:(  the cool wet hair on my back and hips was  cooling and relaxing while it lasted:)
We'll see what it looks like as the day goes on.  I will keep it in a braid and sleep with it like that until tomorrow.  I think then I'll either try the Chinese bun or just a regular bun with stix.
The craft show in NJ yesterday was nice, walked around with the wheel chair for a couple of hours and had some sparkly Sworovsky (sp?) crystal jewelry made.  Pretty!!  Got an ankel bracelet,a pair of earrings and a bracelet!  Didn't get to see all the vendors, but that's ok there is always October's show and that's my birthday month so more sparkly jewelry is waiting for me!! ;D

Speaking of coffins,I wanted to hide in one this morning for certain :o  the humidity did a number on my hair!!!  It felt so disgusting,I just unbraided it and went right into the shower!!!  The cool water rinse helped, but the Biolage balm is what really made a difference!!  My hair sucked that balm right up just like a powerful vacuum!!!  I was not stingy with it either and my hair just soaked it right up!!  I wide tooth combed the balm through my hair and left it on for a few minutes and cool water rinsed afterwards.  I oiled the ends and length with my "mix".  Sprayed some Ojon mist and used aloe vera gel all over.  Now my calmed down hair sits in a bun with ketylo sticks on my head.  At least now it doesn't look like something the cat dragged in!  Or should I say something different since I don't own a cat!!!

Hey Curlgirl!

I'm feeling that heatwave too, I'm just underneath ya in Pa here!  It's supposed to reach 100 or better today...and humid too!  I suppose it's not so bad if you're used to it, but we're sure not, so it kind of hits you like a brick *clunk*!  I'm not really complaining, I think that I'd still prefer this over snow and ice, at least we can hide in a/c if we need to, right?

I feel so bad for you and curlygirl having to give yourself shots everyday, what strength you guys have!  How long are the needles you have to jab in?  Hopefully they aren't too big and painful, but how could it not be painful?  Yeesh, I admire you guys!

Take care,
magz

Aaaack! Needles! Ack! Ack!  :P

It's pretty humid down here in SoCal as well...we had a lightning storm on Saturday night and short, but powerful, bursts of rain. Now the sky is covered with clouds, yet it's still 80° out.  :P  There's more rain in the forecast...and we still have no a/c.  :(  You guys are lucky.

It's 103 here today... I'm just thankful I didn't pass out on the way from the front door to my car door...  ::)

What's this Ojon's mist?  Sounds like fun...  :)

Title: Re: Not sure how to start, but here goes!!!
Post by Curlgirl64 on Jul 17th, 2006 at 9:55pm
I think it's Ojon's Revitalizing Mist.  Smells good, too!  If you've used Ojon before it reminds me of strong coffee and chocolate!  Funny coming from me who gave us the dark stuff(chocolate, that is ;D) years ago!!  Long live coffee though ;D  anyway,I digress,sorry......my girlfriend had it and I think she had ordered it from QVC and since her hair is painfully thin she didn't care for it so I was the lucky person to get her gift!!  I use it along with my special oil mix!  My hair seems to like it.  I tried to fin it on QVC again, but no luck.  I'll try again or go to the Ojon site to see if they carry it.  Probably is a small fortune, though drats!!

I'm taking the plunge!!  The henna plunge that is!  Ok,I'm testing the waters......I ordered free samples of henna and indigo along with carrot bags, gloves and citric acid.  I need to shop around for the cape and shower caps you can get anywhere.  I've got my hair sample harvest from my wooden comb over the past month so hopefully when I do a test my sample doesn't turn either bright red or orange.  That's why I got the indigo.  I think I'll test it with the henna and then as an immediate follow up treatment.  I ordered today so it should be a few days before I can experiment.  Of course it is pure 100% natural henna from Catherine.  I also ordered a sample of Rosemary leaves and I think I ordered Lavender leaves.  Anywho when it's here I'll be testing!!
My shampoo bars and soap deck and netted sponge came from Ida today.  Woo hoo! ;D I love Ida's shampoo bars!!
Till next time!

I am still waiting for my henna and indigo samples!!!!  I am so anxious to see what color my hair sample will turn out to be.  Hopefully not orange or red!  I think I've got a recipe to try that will tone down the "henna red" and cover the grey and give my more strength, shine and a nice deep dark brown with burgundy highlights where the grey was.  From my mouth to God's ears!!!  lol  I hope it turns out well.  I'll keep ya all posted.
Been busy with trying to straighten out med. delievery problems for the past few days......that is for another time and journal entry elsewhere though ::) >:(  it's been trying and a headache!!!
All in all hair is fine and feels good.  I have it up today with sticks and a fork.
Not much to say about it for now, until I can work with this henna and indigo!!!  More later!

THe samples of henna and indigo are here!!!!  Woo Hoo!!  Now the fun starts with experimenting!!  I've got my hair samples ready to go,so I'm off to see what beautiful color I can come up with!!!  Hopefully a dark, rich shiny brown!!!  More on this later!!!

Good luck!  You might try mixing with tea, it keeps from getting a too "orange" of a color.

Hey,  I had a link to Ida's soaps, but it doesn't work anymore... is there a new link?  I've wanted to order her honey, egg and beer shampoo bar..

Title: Re: Not sure how to start, but here goes!!!

Funny you say that I steeped rosemary, but didn't use it.  I used vinegar for the henna and warm water for the indigo, mixed everything up when the dyes released, added eo of lavender and sage and threw in the hair samples.  IT's only been 2 hours so I'm anxiously waiting!!!
Now with Ida,I just got more shampoo bars last week I think her address is the same.  But if memory serves my correctly it is www.chagrincraft@aol.com
I'll report on the "experiment" when it is complete!

Title: Re: Not sure how to start, but here goes!!!
Post by Curlgirl64 on Jul 27th, 2006 at 1:06pm
Well the experiment is pretty much done!!  I can look at it two ways....it went well or not much happened.  The hair sample did not turn "bozo orange" and I think it got darker and I can see some burgundy highlights.  I think I'll add more indigo, making the ratio 2/3 indigo 1/3 henna.  I did not henna first and then indigo.  I mixed the two together after the dyes released.  I'm not sure whether I expected a miraculous change or super shiny hair, but all in all I guess it was ok.  I'll let the color deepen for a few days and then I'll go full steam ahead with ordering 300 grams of indigo and 300 grams of henna.  I can then mix them up with measuring cups.  Oh the mess that awaits my bathroom, floor, bathtub etc!!  lol  I'll be laying down tons of newspaper all over  and putting on alot of vaseline to prevent skin staining!!!  Hopefully I can do the henna and indigo within 2 weeks.  Mail delivery is sooooo slow.
If anybody has any suggestions about the "experiment" ,please feel free to make suggestions. :)

Oooh Henna.  You know I am tempted sometime to do it.  I use to and still do it as a art form on skin.  I'm sorry, I am no help when it comes to hair but I do have some neat reciepes for doing henna on skin and some neat tricks too.  Hmmm today is a hot day...maybe I should do some some Henna on my feet?

I loved doing Mehindi!  i got most of my info from the net and from books but also from my East Indian friends at my old job.  One young man found it a big turn on! Another wanted me to do his wife and I did!  My boss at work thought I was nuts, but the hell with her!  My customers loved it and I did do some Henna at work on the later shifts.  I found working with cones the best method for me.  Here's some of my work.  Oh man, these were the days before my dig camera!

This one was done for Diwali.

Hot days are the best for doing Henna as the stains turn out nice and dark! Those are my hands, eek my nails look like claws! LOL!! ;D

Just as time and fate would have it I was able to go for a "European Facial" today at the spa next door to the health food store that I haunt.  I hadn't been in for a facial in over a year. ( I do my own micro-dermabrasion at home)  I had a gift certificate from my mother as one of my Christmas gifts so I thought I better use it before I loose it!!! lol  Boy oh boy,I got to relax, get a little massage and really enjoy quiet time!!  I think I should try to do this at least 1 once a month or every other month!!!  Anyway,I'm going to try to order all my henna and indigo tonight and hopefully it will be here by Friday so I can do some work on these long locks!  More later!!

I'm looking forward to hearing about your henna experience and seeing some pics (hintx2)!

Yes,when I worked I would go for a facial every month, also so my own facial microdermabrasion and try to get a message every month or 6 weeks.  I totally agree iit is a big stress reducer and if you can make it a habit and afford it,have it a  part of your life!! ;D

Oooh European facial & massage. Nice! lol What a lucky gal you are, Curlgirl!

It seems that everyone who does the "spa" thing regularly avidly swears by it and recommends that everyone else do the same. I've thought about maybe getting a massage someday, but I don't think I will. Partly because I might break down crying in the middle of it and everyone would think I was "weird" and partly because I used to live with a massage therapist and dear God, I would not pay to have those hands on me!!  :P

Ahem. Glad to hear that you had a nice, relaxing experience.

lol!!  I used to date a mailman who was training to become a message therapist or masseuse and when he moved down to West Palm Beach I would fly down there to see him a few weekends a year and for vacation so everyday I would get a 1 hour massage after I would do my running.  Pure Heaven!!!!!!!!!  Now my turn to say ahem!!!!  I am not fortunate to go as often as I would like, but if you can definately go!!!  Don't worry about the crying part,it's ok and it can happen and any massage therapist knows to expect different emotions whether it's laughing, crying or nothing at all......it's all part of the experience.  Let me know if you go and you are"hooked" :)

Wow that facial sounds cool!  Do you know in all my 39 years I never had one!  I do my own but never I went in for one. I guess I was too chicken! :D  Ah massage, now that I've had. I had a Reiki (sp?) once at a psychic fair years ago.  I also do some massage myself. When hubby comes home from sanding wooden floors all day he's so sore sometimes that he cannot sleep.  So I fix him!  He tells me I should do it  professionally, I said with my arthritis I don't think so! LOL!

If you go to ebay and under Health and Beauty,Hair Care,Other Items.  It is called Satin Sox for Long Locks Hair Protector!  I'm testing the waters so to speak!

Title: Re: Not sure how to start, but here goes!!!
Post by Curlgirl64 on Aug 7th, 2006 at 8:23pm
I've tweeked the Satin Sox alittle more and now there are two styles to choose from, the satin tie style and the draw string style.  I'm definately getting eye strain or fatigue or something from all this sewing!!! :o ::)  and tonight is "medicine shot night"(oh what fun) ::) Tomorrow is off to the neurologist for the  every three month visit and talk about the new meds.  I still need to go for the blood work.  With the heat wave that we just had,I was stuck in the house and couldn't get to the lab!  Oh well, things could be worse!
I was able to wash my hair this morning with one of the shampoo bars, vinegar rinse and some conditioner.  Too hot for just a braid so I put my hair up in a bun with a hair pin and fork.  I never measured my bun,but it's big even when my hair is wet or damp.  7 inch hairsticks are not doing the jogb alone to hold up the bun!!  I'm gonna have to experiment again and see what will work or help.
Had to use alittle Climate Control by Ouidad to keep frizzies at bay and Ojon's Moisurizing Spray.  Hair feels good and looks ok,too! ;D

I was up last night doing the drawstring style and I like the way it came out too,so there is another style choice to choose from.  If anything and I do go world wide I might get you as a watcher or bidder or buyer!!
What part of Bklyn are you from?

Oh I'm watching it!  I hope you do really well.  I've been selling for a little over two months and have done pretty good!  I am from East New York about 20 blocks from Bedfordsy.  I lived right near the J train station.  Our flat was next to a funeral home that became a  gospel church last time I looked in the late 80's. I  lived there till I was 16 then we moved to Howard Beach, from there I lived out on the island till......I wound up in Canada!  Ah life, it takes you everywhere!  ;D

Thanks Ladies!!  I hope to be getting some bids and sales!!!  I made another style choice, drawstring.  I like it,it works well and it is all hair safe!! ;D  Now if I just get some bids that result in sales,I'll be happy!!!
Lisabelle,Bedsty, huh.  Passed through,it is rough as is Brownsville,Red Hook and along with the good areas!!  I'm in Bensonhurst, trains have changed alittle.  THe N is still here on the "Avenue",the F,D,M are here too.  The B got changed to the D and Q line.  Lots of changes since you've been here in the 80's.  Coney Island is better and cleaner.  Keyspan Park is now here as are the Brooklyn Cyclones Baseball team!  Great stadium and family style thing happening there, none of the professional stuck up attitudes of the pros that you may have experienced at Shea or Yankee Stadium.
All in all,things are good.
If it helps any, Novusfemina,my bun is big too and I use the Satin Sox when I braid or ponytail my hair with no problems.  So hair that is super long or just can go in a ponytail work well in the "Sox"! ;D

Wow it has changed!  I gather my old area is still a war zone.  I took my hubby through it on foot and we didn't make it past cresent street before he wanted to turn back!  I went to Franklin K. Lane highschool, the one next to Mount Hope graveyard...I wonder if it's still there?  It must be.  Schools up here are pretty small in comparison.  My dad (god bless him) use to keep his boat in Rockaway. My brother lives in Middlevillage. Haven't been down since Dad passed away.  And now since 911 I need a permanent resident card to get back into Canada if I leave.

BedSty and Bushwick have always been a war zone, unfortunately :(  Don't know about the school or graveyard since I haven't been there to walk around.  There are so many changes here in the states and worldwide since 9/11.  The violence, death, ignorance and alot of other emotions are a daily heavy burden that none of us should have had to deal with in our lifetime.  Opinion stated and on a better happier note,I think we are all alittle more aware, grateful and appreciative of the friends, loved ones and humans around us and afar ;)at least I hope so!!

Well after the neurologist visit yesterday,I went for blood work this morning, tried to fill a prescription that I found out was going to cost $150 a month!!! :o :o  That was not in the game plan!!!  Came home, boyfriend in tow, both of us on our scooters and the "wheels were turning"I got to thinking and came up with an idea.  All in all the doctor re did a new prescription and it  will cost me $65 a month!  *#*&&#@(*&#$& that Medicare Part D.  How ever came up with such a stupid annoying problem for seniors and the disabled to have to put up with???? >:(  Anywho, after phone calls were made and coffee was on I made Rice and Beans for us for lunch.  My guy said he realy liked it.  Good and bad in that.  The good thing is that he likes my cooking, the bad thing is that I'll have to cook all the time for him if we get married! ::)
Now to talk about hair..........all is behaving since the heat wave is gone!  Thank You,fairy weather person!!!!
I plan on shampooing, acv and condtioning or deep condtioning on Friday because Saturday I'm going to henna and indigo my hair.  All supplies are here and I'm ready!!  I just need my sister and her digital camera here and the fun and mess(oops, procedure begins!)
So tomorrow it is  off to the dog groomer's,Friday wash,Saturday henna and indigo,Sunday relax and Monday off to see a dermatologist(neurologist's suggestion) because I have this "invisible" rash for 2 weeks.  My forearms, biceps, tops of my hands and collarbone area itch like crazy!!!  There are no bumps, hives,no nothing!  IT is the strangest thing!  Need answers.....more later!

Sorry to hear about your mystery itchies.  Sounds like nerves to me.  My suggestion is Neem soap, you can get it at www.banyanbotanicals.com (personal favorite) or at the health food store.

Good Luck!!!!!

I tried something new today.  I washed with some Jessie Curl moisture shampoo and used I think her moisutre conditioner.  The conditioner smells wonderful!!  Coconut, hmmmmmmmmm.  It reminds me of these Italian cookies when I was little.  Also reminds me of Anisette.  Anywho, I wanted to wash and condish before the henna and indigo tomorrow.  I oiled the length and ends with my oil mixture and sprayed some Ojon Moisturizing Spray.  I bought a hair paddle and fork from e-bay last month from Eve(aka-Blondiesturn)I got Dymondwood Desert Camo..  Pretty and hold up my bun well.  Good for wet or damp or oiled hair,no problem.
So when I write in my journal tomorrow night,I'll fill in all the blanks about henna and indigo and hopefully it will come out beautiful..the hair sample did so I have no doubts about the actual hair on my head and length!!

Ok,I finished the henna and indigo today...hmmmmm this was some project!!!  The henna released its dye and I prepared the indigo and then mixed them together.  Mistake #1 is that I needed to have the mixture thinner,it was too thick.  Mistake #2 is that I should not follow directions and apply to dry hair.  My hair is too thick and long and totally unmanagable for this dry.  I needed to have my hair damp and wide tooth combed and then it would have worked out much better.  I started the process with my sister at 12:30pm and stepped out of the shower at 5:30pm.  I kept the mixture in my hair for 3 hours.  I rinsed for 45 minutes in the kitchen sink(no joke and no fun) used about 16 oz. of conditioner to help get most of the mix out.  I got in the shower, conditioned again, washed my hair and conditioned it again.  Wide tooth combed it,oiled the length and ends and put it up in a bun.
I used about 400 grams of mixture out of the 600 I ordered and I still don't have complete coverage down to the roots.  That's totally my fault.  Hair feels good and doesn't look so bad,but I will do this again in a few days or next weekend and do a better job.  The color is darker, but not as dark as I want it and I don't like the red highlights.  I'll use 2/3 indigo and 1/3 henna next time I purchase.  I used half and half this time.  Pictures will follow as soon as this has had a chance to oxidise.  I'll so before and after.  All and all I will do this and perfect my technique.  Anyone who has any ideas of doing this must seriously consider having someone help you!!!!

Oh wow! I can't wait to see your hair!  Yes henna it is a long and messy process from what I hear.  Now I have the urge to do my hair indigo!

Title: Re: Not sure how to start, but here goes!!!
Post by Curlgirl64 on Aug 13th, 2006 at 11:18am
Next time I will use more indigo than henna!  I wanted it darker and I didn't cover everything even though my hair felft like I had 5 pounds of goop on it!  THat's probably why my neck hurts this morning!!!! :o ::)
I'l gonna wait a few days if I can or maybe until the weekend and then do this again with my hair damp.  It will be far more easier to control!

So after dealing with a killer headache this morning,I did make it to the dermatologist.  She is as baffled as I am as to the invisible rash.  She gave me a few prescriptions,Alegra, cream and to have more blood work done.  So now I'll get bloodwork done for the neurologist and the dermatologist.  I'll be a pincusion!!!  lol ::)
Anywho,on to the hair part.  The henna/indigo has started to oxidize and I'm still not happy with the red highlights.  I got an e-mail from Catherine at the Mehendi Shop and she suggests that I freeze the henna that I have left(there's alot) and I ordered 100 grams of indigo to mix with that,so the end result will be 300 grams of henna and 400 grams of indigo.  That is alot of goop(I mean mixture!)  I'll try this on my own next Saturday.  I think I might have better luck if I do this alone and am not either rushed or concerned that someone else wants to help.  As the saying goes,"Too many cooks spoil the soup".  I'm hoping that it won't take so long for my B-I-L to get these pics up so I can show you all! ;D
I can tell you my hair is softer, shinier and easier to manage.    I'll be doing this as often as I can and alternate with Cassia, which has no color, just a great all natural conditioner.
Ciao for now!

Not much on the hair journaling today.  It is very wavy from the single braid I did yesterday after I washed it.  Had blood work today (4 vials!,grrrr)otherwise I would have deep condition it,too!  Anyhow,I made a pink satin sox for myself last night and used it.  Loved it and so did my hair!!  Today the black satin came along with the flannel backed satin florals,so I'll be busy making more satin sox!!  I think I'll do a black and pink one, that should be very nice as well.  Gotta go,recycling is tomorrow and there's alot of boxes to tape!  Oy!

Ok,did another henna and indigo catastophe last night!!!  Do Not attempt to do this alone if your hair is past your necik!!!  What a time I had between the drips and trying to cover all of my hair!!!  Anywho,I added 100 grams of indigo to the frozen mess I had defrosted and yes it did come out darker, but I still see red highlights!  I'll let it oxidize for a day or two then take pics and then it's off to my B-I-L's so he can download them and send them to me.  I am very anxious to see them and to put them up here.  Hopefully BB can help me with that(hint hint, please)

I washed my hair today with a shampoo bar and used some conditioner....it's been about 4 days since I did my second henna and indigo "treatment".  The color is almost what I wanted, too!  It is a beautiful dark dtown or almost black with touches of a deep burgundy.  I hope when I get the pics that everyone will be able to see the difference between the before and after shots.  After the slight car accident my B I L had yesterday(he's fine, btw) the pics should be coming soon!(fingers crossed, eyes squeezed tightly shut, praying).  Anyway, the only possible down side of the henna and indigo is that my curls are more relaxed,if you want to call it that.  I have it up in a bun with ketylo sticks right now so I won't know the extend of the curls until later when I braid it or use scrunchies and put it all in a Satin Sox.
The blood work came back for the dermatologist to see if she could figure out what is this invisible itchy rash.  It has calmed down tremendously over the past 3 weeks.  The nurse had called and said the doc would call me tomorrow to discuss the results since she had such a late night with patience she was not able to call me.  I also went for the standard 3 month blood work yesterday so I've done blood work 3 times in a week and a half not to mention my regular injections 3x a week.  Talk about a pin cushion!!!!

I ordered the Camillia oil samples yesterday and hopefully they will be here soon. I know I know, such impatience!!  Well, what do you want,us girls want something now not later!!!  Anyway, ordered yarn, too, lots of it,11 skeins!  I'm crocheting caps,(skull),scarves and hats for sale along with the making the satin sox.  I am busy, but not neglecting the hair.  That is doing just fine.  I really can't wait to do another indigo henna treatment!  Maybe in a few weeks.  More later!

I love skull caps!  I have 3 or 4, but the elastic is so tight it dents my forhead and gives me a headache if I wear it too long.  Do you use elastic in yours?  Got any pics?? (hint hint)

that's the beauty of my scull caps.  I don't use elastic in them.  THe yarn I use gives a little so they fit without giving you a mark or a headache!  I so desperately want to get a digital camera so I can post pics.  I'll plead and be my sister to take a few pics and have my B I L e-mail them to me so I can try to get them on here or I'll try to e-mail them to you.  :)  I've got 5 or 6 done so far and will be finishing another tonight.  I think they look good on women,I've done pink, mint green, grey, white and when the yarn comes in I'll do black, red and navy blue!  My hands are gonna hurt!!!! Oh,they are for sale too!! If you're interested let me know!

Well, I went to my sister's and B-I-L's today and we all swnt to see The Illusionist with Edward Norton  and Jennifer Biels.  Excellent movie!!!!  We then went back to the house to have Japanese food, another excellent thing to do!  THEN my B-I-L downloaded 9 pics to my e-mail,(My hair before and after henna and indigo)scull cap pics and pup and me.  I checked my e-mail and they are not here!!!!!!!! >:( >:(  I saw the man download then and the complete notice on his computer!!!!!!!!  I am so fustrated with these pictures.  This is a major major hint to get my own digital camera and software to download pics and post them.  I'm gonna have to shop around.....................
On the hair frontier, since it rained all day I kept my hair in a single braid and prayed the frizzies would not be too bad.  All in all I think the henna and indigo have really helped on that end.  More later!
Oh and the mailman came by on a Sunday with a package from Japan for me!!  It was the samplaes of Camillia oil!  I can't wait to try all of them!  The packaging was so nice, too.  There's a piece of origami in there and it's just nice to see how things are sent from another part of the world.

Ok,as soon as I learn what to do with them, they'll be up for everyone to see the before and after henna and indigo pics!
On the hair front, I used a new shampoo bar,Summer Sunshine and did a vinegar rinse and then used Jessie's Shea Moisturizing Conditioner(?)hey, when you're battling a headache and "Aunt Flo" don't blame me if the names are wrong!!
I then used the Camillia Oil and put my hair up in a bun with a hair fork. The Graydog hairforks work well with wet or damp hair.  My hair feels good and I'll let ya know about the Camillia Oil. I have no doubts that will be a new favorite! :)

Update time!!!
The Summer Sunshine shampoo bar worked out well,I like it.  The Camillia Oil is one of my new favorites! ;D  I got a lot of shine from it and my hair felt good.
As for other things,I have been sewing and crocheting so much my eyes burn and my hands are tight.  Either that or my MS is acting up some more and the most inappropreate (?) times!  SO what else is new? lol  I'm almost done with the satin lining that goes in the granny square pocket book that I crocheted.  Came out nice.  So far I think I'll have 4 or 5 winter ponchos,2 summer ponchos,6 or 7 scull caps, maybe 5 scarves and a couple of hats.  Like I said I am beat!!!  I hope to get another scarf or 2 done before the sidewalk flea market sale on the 9th.  I really am praying that I at least break even or alittle better.  The next church flea market is in November.  I'll do that one too.  Oh I'm also going to have a raffle for an aphgan I crocheted.  I figure at $5 a chance with a minimum of 8 people entering;I'll cover the cost of the yarn to crochet it.  It's a combination of a purple and a green together.  It really came out nice, surprsed me since I had not made one before.  I did one for my grandmother and my mother last October.
Ok enough of that !  Back to the hair,I did a measurement yesterday morning and came in at 32 inches so I'm happy.  I'll be really excited if I get to 34 inches by 1/1/07  All in all the hair is behaving since the henna and indigo.  My avatar is of the "after" .  WHen I figure out if and when the cut and paste mission will work,I'll put more pics up.
Later!!

Since we are getting the reminants of Hurricane Ernesto(like we need anymore rain :o)  I washed my hair this morning with No More Tears shampoo by Ouidad, conditioned with Jessie's Shea Moisturizing Conditioner and used Camillia oil all over.  I really like this oil,it's a nice change from the mix I made up.  The henna and indigo I think have made a change also.  I was alot more curlier before, but drier, too.  So I think I'll take the shinier, more moisturized hair!  Instead of keeping my hair down to dry I put it up in a bun with two hair forks.  Both waterproof,a GrayDog and one from Blondiesturn.

Where does the time go? ::)  Not much has been happening since I last logged in,except I've been to the vet 2x,did the flea market(we won't go there, people are soooooooo cheap!!!) alittle bit of this and alittle bit of that!  Hair is fine, nothing ultra fantastic.  I think I'll be doing the henna and indigo again,I'm seeing grey coming through.  This time I'll use 200 grams of indigo and either 50 or 100 grams of henna.  I still don't have my hair as dark as I'd like it.  I'm too fair to go raven black without looking like something from a horror pic;otherwise I'd go pitch black......I've gotta stop mulling over that :o ;D  anywho,I'm still crocheting and my brother told me that one of the guys he works with wants to see my skull caps.  I'm not one to wait on that either,I've made 10 or 12 for the flea market so hopefully he get the color he wants.  More later.  I by the way ordered some oils and other things from mystify your senses so I can make my own lip balms.  I ordered amaretto oil, chocolate hazelnut, cotton candy and mint chocolate chip oil.  Got the recipe and now just will wait for the mailman to deliver!!!!

I decided to use the 200 grams of indigo from Catherine today.  I mixed it with the leftovers I had in the freezer.  Good idea to do this when you are )(*&&*(&( pissed off!  I was supposed to go to the vet this morning with Access-A-Ride or dare I call them by their proper name?  Stress-A-Ride!!!!  They showed up an hour later whcih was of no use to me since my appointment was 5 minutes before they came!  Anywho, I terped the stuff that was in the freezer and added hot water to the indigo and waited for the dye to release.  When it did I mixed the indigo into the other stuff and glopped it in my hair!  I think I did ok by myself.  I kept it in for almost 3 hours.  I had gotten a great deal at the healthfood store yesterday by buying Nature's Gate conditioner,18 oz. bottles for $2.99!!  So I bought 5!  I used almost a whole bottle taking the glop out of my hair.  I rinsed for about 40 minutes, used camillia oil and my oil mix and then put my hair in a ponytail and braided it.  Aside from some stains on the back of my neck,my hair is almost black.  When it dries I'll be better able to tell if it will be black or dark brown.  I think it should take 2 or 3 days to oxidize so then that's when I'll wash, conditioner and oil again.  No washing this time, just tons of conditioner.  I did loose alot of hair I think anyway, but we'll see when I take it out of the braid tomorrow morning or night.  That's about it for now!

Has it been more than a month already????!!!  My birthday was on the 22nd of October and was nice.  Went out to eat crab and lobster.  Also went to a craft fair on Saturday and picked up a microfiber towel for my hair.  Nice.  All in all The dog's surgery and other things have kept me busy.  I just got back from NYC where QVC had their product search and I presented my Satin Sox.  All went well and I'll know if they want to put it on the air in December.  I also have my crocheted items for sale at a spa I go to and that's been busy too. I swear the time is flying by!  Where did it go????  I got those samples in the mail a week ago,but haven't used them.  I've been using Ojon shampoo, conditioner, oil, restorative spray and shine goop or whatever that banana smelling stuff is that they have!!!  lol ::)  I'm just very tired from crocheting for hours n end.  Sales are ok,I'd like better, but I can't be in the spa all the time to see what is going on.  I'm almost finished with another "Coming Hme" poncho.  I did this one in 3 days.  Having my hair up and out of the way is a super plus, too!
I used Ojon deep treatment last nigh and scruchie'd the length, put on a Satin Sox and then washed and conditioned with Ojon this morning.  Hair feels ok,but not super.  I think I need to do a serious deep conditioning, acv and I'm due for henna and indigo.  I ordered that this morning.  More to tell later,it's late and I'm off to bed!! :)

Well today was "henna and indigo day".  You really need another person to help you do this if you have longlocks.  Since there was no one around I decided to tackle this myself once again.  The walls did not wear any goop nor did the floor,I am happy to say! :o  It took an hour to get it all in though.  Of course I didn'thave any "Beauty Coil" so I had to use paper towels twisted up like snakes to keep it from dripping.  That did not work out so well.....Instead of keeping it in for 4 hours as I originally planned,I started rinsing it out after 2 1/2 hours.  I haven't checked with a "fine tooth comb" yet,but I think the application process went well.  Can't tell if I'll have dark brown, very dark brown or black hair yet.  I immediately put in some deep conditoner by JessieCurl and Ojon deep conditioning treatment.  It's been in for about 4 hours now and I'll rinse everything out within an hour.  This is an all day affair.  Hopefully I will only be doing this every 3 months.  Maybe I'll be lucky and do just the roots.

This time around I used 100 grams of henna and 200 grams of indigo.  I almost didn't make it.  I used 1 1/2 cups of vinegar in the henna and 2 cups of boiling water in the indigo.  I let the water sit about 4 minutes before mixing.  I also used e/o of lavender, rosemary, sage, and I think cedarwood.  Terping it really helps with the smell.  All in all the next time I thinkI'll add either black coffee or get some amaretto and mix it up.  It should take about 3 days for the color to penetrate well enough for me to know what I have.  Stay tuned!!!! ;D

Well the color is nice, but I want darker!!  We'll see next time.  I do notice less fall out when I wide tooth comb and my hair just feels stronger,if that makes any sense!  lol
On a more serious note,my grandmother is still in the hospital since Wednesday, she still can't walk and I heard she has a bruise on her face from when she fell.  I want to know who picked her up and why wasn't anything said before she got to the hospital?  This happens everytime my mother goes a way to visit my aunt in NC.  She is coming home a day early to go to the hospital though.  She should be here tomorrow.  I haven't been to the hospital, but have bben getting updates from my brother.  I am planning on going when my mother gets back.  It stinks being disabled,I can't just hop on a bus or train to get to the hospital.  Oh well, that's the way it is.  Not gonna cry in my beer as they say!!  Any whoo now for some happier news.  My brother starts the NYC Fire Dept. Academy on Monday.  I am so proud of him.  He's been in the electrical field for 5 years and just got his MIJ (don't ask)  This is what he wants to do so we are all so proud and worried.  My sisiter hasn't said too much about it,but eventually I think she will.  More later!
