Title: Found new, easy method for curling & plopping
Post by rhpetunia on Jul 31st, 2006 at 12:35am
I was looking for a satin haircover to protect my ends at night, so I looked around and found a satin bag with a pull string.  When I ordered moisturizing gloves from Sephora, they came in that satin bag, that's where it came from.  Anyway, the bag measures about 6 x 8 inches, and I started by just putting my hair in a high pony tail using a scrunchie turning the bag inside out (so the smooth side is on my hair), and tightening the drawstring over the scrunchie.

Well, since the bag was not as long as my hair, the hair would set funny and would need to be fixed in the morning.  Eventually, started to use it as a setting tool.  There are two methods:

1)  When I have a good wave going and I want it wavy in the morning, I dampen the pony tail with a spray bottle and scrunch it.  Then I fold the opening of the bag onto itself so it's only about 4" long, and holding my pony tail upside down I carefully put it into the bag and tie the drawstring quick so the bag stays short.

2)  If I want a curl, I dampen the ponytail shorten the bag like in 1), then I coil the ponytail around my forefinger and gather the roll in a bunch and carefully stuff it into the bag and quickly tie.  I get a surprisingly nice curl, and it takes less than a minute!

Sounds like someone is going to have a problem!!!  I have a patent and trademark in the works for a creation I invented that is for long hairs that works in similar fashion..........

Oh no!  Conflict!!  :o

Kidding.  ;)

Sounds like great minds think alike, sounds like some great ideas, too!  Good luck on getting your patent, Curlgirl!

Well, Curlygirl, I'll be the first to vouch for it, because even my unrefined, ridiculously inferior, difficult to use version does a decent job under the right circumstances.  Your invention will no doubt work absolutely wonderfully!

I vaguely remember you mentioning your hair sock, but I thought it was meant to be a protective device.  I was wondering how it was going because right now I don't have a means to just keep it straight because my bag's too short.  I didn't realize your sock was a styling tool as well -- I didn't mean to step on any toes, I just thought I had an idea it would be nice to share.

Do you sell them yet, or are you waiting on the patent first?  Because when they are available I would like to buy one.
