Title: How can I get highlights noticed more??
Post by SP_Beauty on Aug 23rd, 2006 at 10:56am
My hair is a dark brown and it has natural red and some (not much) blonde highlights.  How can I get the red to come out more (I love the red highlights!!) without dying my hair?  Anyone have a clue about this??

Hi SP_Beauty!

Perhaps you can try a natural shampoo that has henna in it.  I use to use an east indian one that brought the red out. Check east indian grocery stores.

Bon chance!

I think there's a red-head rinse recipe in the longlocks hair care recipe cookbook, you could try that out.... I think it's a mix of carrot and beet juice, and should help bring out the natural red.  :)

good luck!

If you really want to enhance the red, I'd suggest trying  henna treatments.  If you use body quality henna which is better quality, it will also condition your hair and add shine and strength as well as bring out the reds.

I agree - henna might be the way to go.  Check out Anais' journal - she does a lot of experimenting with henna.

Thanks guys! I will look into the henna.  Gotta find a store around the area I live though...that will be a challenge.
