Hi my hair goal is around 4 years, Making me 26years old, how long will it take you to reach yours?

I will probably reach my first goal within 6 months.  I'm not really sure how long I want my hair in the end, however I'm betting that I'll want it longer after I reach this first goal.

My short term goal should be reached in a little over 9 months, I'm not sure how much longer I'll want my hair after that.

I no longer have a goal for the length of my hair.  My primary goal is to keep it healthy.

When I recognized I was growing my hair longer than ever before, I had the goal of waist length.  When I reached that, I went for classic.  Having achieved classic length I realize that my fine hair may not look good at longer lengths, so I am striving for healthy hair.  If it happens to get longer ..... whoo hoo!  ;D

My first goal was to get from having cut almost all my hair off, and having it super short and layers everywhere, to all one length at shoulder-length. It's 2 years later and I just reached that.

Now my next goal is BSL, in the logical progression of goals...that will probably take 1.5 to 2 years, depending on how often (and how much) I trim.

My final goal is indeterminate. I saw a girl the other day with knee-length hair and I would really LOVE to have hair that long....but....my hair just may be too thin to wear that long. She had very thick, wavy brown hair. So that helped the effect. I figure I'll just keep growing mine until I decide that's enough.

My first goal was BSL (I didn't know what to call it though).  Then it was waist.  Now I'm shooting for classic.  It should take about a year to get to hip length, and another to get to classic.  I also worry about healthy hair more than length, so I trim about 1/4 inch every couple of months when the ends start to get thin.  

I think my primary goal is to keep it as healthy as possible.  What's the point of having hair that's super long if it's not healthy??  I may reach tailbone at the time I thought I would on my ticker.  I might be off by a month or 2,not sure yet.  It's almost to my hips  when wet so I'm hoping that as long as it's healthy I should be there soon.

Good point. My short term goal is bsl (2 1/2 years). My ultimate would be classic but i am forgetting that unil i reach my above goal between waist and tailbone.

My first goal is shoulder length, all one length across. Since mine is in short layers just past my chin, this will probably take me about another year. Then after that first goal, I'd like to get it to BSL, which would be what, maybe two more years? So in three years, when I'm 28, it might be BSL. Yeah!

I have a series of goal lengths.  First is BSL, which I am hoping to achieve by my wedding in July (seven months away).  Oh, funny question, I'm sure, but what exactly is BSL?  I mean I know it stands for bra strap length, but what point of your bra are we talking about?  The horizantal back strap, the front?  I've been assuming the back strap.

My next goal is waist length, which I estimate will take me around 20 months (July 2008?), so I'll be 24.

I don't know if it would be practical for me to have it much longer than wasit length.  I guess I'll see when I reach my other goals.

See the ticker in my sig for my first short-term goal. 2 feet of hair seems like a nice, solid measurement.

After that, BSL, which should take a few months after I reach 2 feet. I'll most likely get a trim somewhere in there, too.

My ultimate goal is waist length, where I was 7 years ago, before a terrible colouring incident. After that, who knows?

Hmmm... I will probaly have my goal lenght (ankle lenght) when I'm 60!   I'm 40 next month so I got a while to go! :) :D

Hi Rainbow,  my hair goal is as long as it will grow  :)  I cut off approxiamately (sp) 2 1/2 in on Oct 1, and another 1/2 in on Jan 01.  My hair was having a bad attitude when I first cut it, then I did again cuz it felt good.  Now I plan to leave it alone other than dusting for split ends.  I am curious if it will get much longer.  It is currently still at the tops of my thighs.  I guess I just cut off some of the new growth  ::).

My next goal is waist, which I should reach in about 8 months if I figure 1/2" of growth per month and minimum trimming.

My final goal is knee length and if my calculations are correct *puts on nerd glasses* I should be there by my 25th birthday.  I'm 22 now so that gives me 3 years of growing, then a life-time of trimming and maintaining  ;D My ends are going to be sooooo thick and lucious by the time I'm 30!! hahaha what a weird thing to think........ ::)  I could reach it before 25, but I want to stop for a few months at midthigh length so I can trim each month to thicken things up.

:D We must be the only ones on this planet that wishes the years to go by quicker!!!!Hahahaha!!

In the longer run I want to have really long grey hair! I´ll walk around like a female Gandalf poking at them young kids with my long stick...cooooooool!!!

Firstly, I do realize this thread is old.  ;) But "nothing really matters to meeeeee... tooo meee" (Bohemian Rhapsody anyone?  :P )
So, anyway, I think I will reach my hairgoal- hiplenght with good quality- in about three years, hopefully sooner. That will make me... 19 years old.  :o I don't want to grow up. *mutters* Now where is Peter Pan when you need him?  :-?

And oh, fata morgana: So do I!  ;D Sneaking about in the bushes, poking whatever moves with one's trusty walking-stick with an incredible mane of grey hair cascading down one's back!! Woo!  :D  ::)

Awww yes, an incredible mane of grey (gray) hair.  As mine is getting grey/white, maybe by the time it gets to my knees (14 inches to go) it will be more grey/white than red.  I am soooo excited!!!

I remember Gandalf.  He is the wizard in the Hobbit Series.  I read all those books several years ago.  I liked them a lot.

I'm using a sort of "baby step" approach to reaching my ultimate goal length (waist length).

On July 1st, I reached my first goal of 24" for the last time. By the 1st of August, I'll have a better idea of how soon I'll reach BSL, which is about 25½" on me. I hope to reach it by the end of this year.

After BSL, I'll just watch it creep slowly down my back until it reaches my waist.  :)

I am so thankful that my hair has grown well over the past six months.  My projected goal time  is in my signature, but I am about 1-1/2 inches from tailbone length, so I think I'll reach it early.   From there I want to go to hip, then thigh, then knee, then calf, then ankle.  

That should take a few years!   ;D

I think I have to change my ticker too!  I think I'm either already at tailbone(when my hair is wet) or very close when it is dry.  I think I should just measure how many inches it is to my tailbone and then re calculate from there if necessary.  I might be able to tell how long it would take from there to go to my thighs.  Taking into consideration that there might be a terminal length factor to consider :(

Well, I guess I have a different take.  I want my hair long and in a beautiful updo.  Thing is, with all the extra weight I have gained in the past few months being sick and with the meds...I have sort of a half extra chin!!!  I really want my hair to grow...but I want to loose the weight so I can put my hair up with a nice neckline to augment it.  I guess I am not wishing the days away for my hair to grow...unless of course I lose the weight faster than my hair grows ;D.

I never had a problem with weight until I hit 40!!   :o  Now, well, I am at a place I thought I'd never be - watching what I eat and wondering how much bigger my waist could get.   ;D

Add to that the fact that I just recently took a job in a bakery.  Can anyone say carbs?  And fat?  And calories??   ;D  But oh it is so good!!

Umm, you were blessed not to have a problem until you were 40 Lynn.  Appreciate it!!!  I was never so blessed, and then add that I am only one year behind 40 and told that my meds will" cause enough weight gain to result in heart disease".  Oh ya, just what a gal wants to hear when she is fighting getting fat without meds....and I bombed...I gained 40 lbs.  All I can say is THANK GOD I DON'T LIVE NEAR A BAKERY!!!!!   ;D

Lynn, you confuse me.  Your tail bone is lower than your hip.  So if you have tailbone lenght?????  Your tail bone is the end of your spine...as in at your bum (or about an inch to 2 inches from the top of the crack)...so if you are there...you have already passed your hip!!!!

BTW, I envy that do you have on your avitar...I am only 21 inches and cannot do it and I certainly do not have the neckline you do!!!

you gals are funny! it's true the hip is higher than the tailbone, but either way it's beautiful length to have! as for me, i'm making  baby steps to my shoulders, which i should reach by oct. then from there, baby steps to bsl some time next year. as for having it waist length, i don't know-maybe two or three years?
as most of you know i'm waiting for the day i have enough length to make a braid! woot! i will definitely let you all know when that happens.

correction: as you can see in my avatar, it is already touching my shoulders but i mean shoulder length as in long enough to swing freely by my shoulders- and that's a few more inches :)

My goal is hair to my knees!  My hair is waistlength now, but doesn't seem to grow any longeer than to the top of my butt.  I can always wish for kneelength though!

i have 3 short term goals. first is BSL which i have almost reached. so after that to reach my ultimate goal would take me about 3 years, which btw is classic so id be around 25, but ill say 26 just in case of trimmings or other things that may stop my gorwth. in the mean time im just enjoying my hair its so healthy and soft. i love it.

im hoping to get to waist (or longer depending on how i can manage it) but my first short term goal is BSL which is 27" on me (bottom of strap) which if i continue to grow at 0.8" a month shall get me there for mid june and waist is just 3" more, so fingers crossed christmas this year, i will be 39 yikes! then.

i'm starting from scratch with a teeny afro, so im thinking 7 years. my goal is 40 inches or knee length for me.

How do you figure out how long it will take? I am figuring abou 5-6 years for me to reach mid-back from the length I am now, which is pretty short!!!

It depends on your growth rate and how often you trim. You have to keep track of these things before you can do the math. And even then, plans change.  ::)

Currently, I'm BSL/midback with an ultimate goal of waist length. My hair grows about 4" per year, but I intend to keep the current length for at least another year.

my hair tends to grow 6 inches a year when properly taken care of. So it should take about seven years, if not eight.

Yeah, I am just hoping that in the next year it will be down to my shoulders. I have never kept track of how much growth I have from month to month, and I don't really plan on getting any more trims for awhil, unless my ends start to go bad.

I cut my hair short (read: Sienna Miller short) on January 8th 2009, and from previous experience, it will take until December for it to reach shoulder length - and that is with taking all the right vitamins and doing all the right things (I did give in to colouring it once or twice and the occasional trim). So I'm hoping that this year it will grow a bit faster, but my goal is to not cut it unless it's absolutely necessary for the next two years. By then, it should be down to bra length *fingers crossed*. :D

Hi everyone!  My original goal was knees.  I have changed that because it is too much to care for.  I am at fingertip now (42") and I plan to stay there until I change my mind again (next week probably).   ;D

Wow!  That's fantastic!  I know how fast my mind changes...it's dangerously fast at times but at least I've learnt that anything above shoulders isn't for me.  I keep changing between being happy if my hair gets to BSL to wanting at least WL.  I worry that I won't have a cooperative hairdresser for trims past that length.  We're looking 3-4 years into the future for WL, I think.
