Title: hair growth question .. ?
Post by lilprincez on Sep 19th, 2006 at 2:39am
hello everyone .. i was wondering if there are any products or mixtures that promote faster hair growth ?? i have a few subtle dark blonde highlights in my hair & am waiting for them to grow out so my hair can be completely at its natural color again because i don`t want to dye it as it is majority virgin hair .. however i did these highlights june 1st & they seem to have only grown out about an inch. i would have thought they`d be more grown out by now .. i don`t really that much patience lol so that`s why the slow hair growth is bothering me .. if anyone could help it would be much appreciated. thank you very much !!

Sorry, lilprincez but hair only grows abou 1/4 - 1/2 a month.  Some people may grow faster than that, based on genetics.  During puberty hair may grow faster but then it slows down.

Guess you're going to have to work on your patience.  :-/

Yep, as Sakina says, the average person's hair grows about 1/2" a month with variances for changes in hormones, health, stress and age.

If you really don't like the highlights, you might check with a color specialist at your hair salon to see if they have any suggestions for you.

i read about that avg growth online, but i`m just surprised as, according to that, i`d have thought my hair would be at least 2 inches grown out by now .. i don`t really dislike the highlights (they are very few & very subtle - i could post a picture if you`d like to see) i just prefer my hair back as it was. i don`t want to put more color in it though since its majority virgin hair & i`d rather not put more dye/chemical in it

Hair growing cycles often go through stagnant phases.. which is a fancy way of saying 1/4-1/2 an inch a month may not happen at all.  :-[

You might consider taking some hair or prenatal vitamins, both of which promote hair growth, but in the end that's not a 100% guarantee.

This can take some time, but a healthy diet combined with regular exercise and vitamins are the optimal environment for growing hair.  In the meantime, try to be patient, because stress can actually make your hair fall out.  (((((hugs))))))
