Title: A New Variation On Figure 8 Buns
Post by Kiraela on May 1st, 2007 at 1:35pm
Hello all, I was playing around with my hair yesterday and came up with the idea of double figure 8 buns. It's sort of like a cross between the flamenco and a figure 8.

Very cool and creative.  This would work great for people with really thick hair that have a hard time getting all their hair to stay in a single bun or figure eight.

How cute!!!  I'd love to be able to do the double figure 8 and use my large red rose hairclips and some hairsticks for decoration!!!

*looks off dreamily, imagining...*

Helloooo, Princess Leia!  ;D

How lucky to have enough hair to create such a style. My hair could never do that.  ;)

;D I'm glad you liked it! I think you could probably do this even before your hair was long enough to do a regular figure 8... splitting the hair into two buns made mine thin enough that I got in an extra wrap... It might even be easier with thinner hair ( I don't know... unfortunately that's never been one of my problems... :-?)

And I think it would be very cute with rose clips, Sakina. If you ever decide to try it, I want pictures!

I think I need to find a new bun.. I've tried so many variations on the 8 now that it's almost rediculous. Next up,  a column of infinities going up my head! well, maybe just 2.  And to think, I was never much of one for trying new styles with my hair before this... braid, down, bun. braid, bun, down. braid, ponytail(!), bun, down. yeah.

adorable!! I love twin buns!  I should do them more often....its hard to part my hair even by myself though!

EDIT* wait a minute!  upon closer inspection of the photo....you have nicely hidden your part!!!!  how did you do that?  was it messy and knotty on your hairs?

actually, that's sorta the way it fell :-/ I just combed it straight back, split the resulting tail into two sections, and bunned..  no tricks, easy on the hair, I'm not sure if it would ever work again. :-/ sometimes life does that.
I'm glad you ladies like it though!

well your carefree part is beautiful!  maybe i will start doing that when I part my hair to style it becuase an accidental crooked part looks worse than a purposeful messy non-part! hehe!  Beautiful :)

OK so this is going to be one of those REALLY DUMB questions.  How do I do a figure 8 bun?  What is it?

I suck at instructions.. so I'll give a link to the ones at Long Hair Loom's styling station central.

Hope that helps.

and if the bun slips sideways... well, that's got a name too: the infinity bun.

perhaps you could try doing a figure-8 as a half-up... it looks spectacular and is easier, since you're only using half as much hair, you'd get more wraps and be able to do it easier.  Hope that helps somewhat.
