Title: long hair dreams...what next?!
Post by roomtogrow on Jul 18th, 2007 at 6:29pm
well it's been happening for the last few weeks...dreams of me with long hair. as you know, mine is just barely reaching the base of my neck, not to my shoulders yet, so for me the goal of long hair seems so far off. i didn't realize i was this obsessed until these dreams started. they vary. in them i'm doing normal day to day activities (painting, at work, walking etc) , then i stop to brush long hair out of my face. sometimes it's my natural dark brown, other times it's been golden and even dark blue! the length varies, but in all my dreams i have long hair!
ok, so in case any one thinks i'm crazy, i just want to say...i may be a little hair obsessed, but perfectly balanced in other respects!  ;)  besides, lets be honest, everyone on this site is a little hair obsessed. :)
and in last night's dream i was reading under a willow tree, and my hair was a dark red braid. beautiful. then i woke up to my alarm clock and still too short hair.  :P

lol What's really strange is when you cause someone else to have long hair dreams about you!

I've never had a long hair dream. But the guy that I'm involved with has had many in which my hair was waist length or longer!  ;D

Dreaming of anything that you desire is not uncommon.  I think long hair dreams also keep you focused on your goals and help you visualize them.

So keep dreaming!  You'll have your long hair!

I agree with BB.  You dream about things you long for, you dream about things that you fear, you dream about things you can't stand about yourself.  I (having graduated over 10 years ago) still have nightmares that I have one more exam (always in math because I suck at it)  in a class I never attended and the exam is in just 4 hours when I find out about it!!!!  That would be what I cannot stand.  I have nightmares about being even fatter than I am and pigging out on food I would never normally eat.  And I dream about good things that just aren't.  Dreams are our outlet to things that we deal with in life.  Your desire to have long hair is yours...and all of us have dreams like that too.  Think of people who dream their loved ones are alive again.  Normal, and cool my friend.

Don't worry, in almost all of my dreams(I managed to type "hair" instead of dreams and barely caught it, by the way) I have at least hip length hair, a harp, and a herd of horses. Of course, my psyche is twisted, so there's always something standing between me and my horses, keeping me from petting or riding(I have never successfully ridden a horse in a dream in 11 years :(), and there's always someone or something threatening my life and hair, and I end up having to fight them even though I'm terrified.

I also seem to dream about my hair giving me the power to fly, though, so... *shrugs*

I think our dreams are a way of processing information our brains can't deal with during the day.  That is why during periods of great stress I have nightmares!  Although not during my current period of stress, thank goodness!

But I remember the truly horrific nightmares I had during my parents' divorce, and when my grandmother died.  Actually I try not to remember the actual nightmares, but I remember having them.

Anyway, what I can't figure out is why a) I have so few good dreams and b) why they always involve decorating houses.  I remember in one of my first ones I decorated a room solely in pianos!  (Ah, the things one can achieve in dreams!)  In all of the others I have two kitchens, a little one upstairs and a large one downstairs.  Go figure.

thanks for all the interesting dream talk. bb, i hope you are right. i sure do dream of long hair a lot now, so hopefully that will keep me focused on the goal. :)
i've always dreamt a lot and remembered much of it, or at least of how many dreams made me feel...happy, relaxed, frightened, tense, etc. the hair dreams are very intriguing, but they do make sense since i now regularly talk about long hair on this site with you all, and also think about it far more than at other times in my life.

I wonder, has anybody else ever had dreams that seem to stick in your head for hours after you wake up, sometimes days, and you keep remembering bits, and it even effects your mood?
I have had times where I had a dream that was.. well I'm not sure how to put it, wistful in a negative sense, like I've lost something and I don't know what, or how to get it back... and when I wake up that feeling is still there for days and it ends up making me really depressed.  :-/

Alright, this might not qualify as a "long hair dream" but it was a...hairtoy dream?

The other night, after receiving my new Creative combs in the mail and comparing them to my broken Rachael Stephens model, I dreamed that the teeth started breaking and falling out of my new Creative combs.  :(
The teeth in my Creative combs are thinner and finer than those of my Rachael Stephens...and the latter is broken because it lost a tooth last year. So it might make sense for me to worry about the teeth in my Creative combs IF they had the same treatment that my RS had...which they won't.
My Rachael Stephens comb was put through the dishwasher many times where the extreme water temperatures not only warped its shape, but cracked one of the teeth, which eventually fell out.
Since then, I've learned to clean my combs by hand, so I don't see that happening with the Creative pair. No one ever said that dreams or fears were rational.  ::)

That reminds me of the dreams I had after getting engaged.  I kept dreaming that my diamond broke off, fell out, you name a way to lose it and I dreamed about it.  I figured it was just anxiety for something I cared about.
