I have a dry, itchy scalp.  I started using regular apple cider vinegar rinses and the itching stopped and the flakiness decreased significantly.  Being under the impression that it didn't matter which type of vinegar I used, I started using white vinegar when the apple cider vinegar ran out.  My scalp is flakier than ever and super itchy, too.  I have just had a personal experience with this and for me its true.

If you have an oily scalp, use white vinegar.

If you have a dry, itchy, flakey scalp, use apple cider vinegar.

I'm suprised, but it really makes a difference.  I bought a gallon of ACV tonigh and will stay away from the white.

Wow, I'm surprised as well. I just thought the only difference is that white vinegar might not end up depositing color over time on blonds like ACV can.

That's very interesting.  I don't have any specific scalp issues and have used both white and ACV with good results.  It is good to know that there CAN be a difference, however.

I, too, have used both DWV and ACV with similar results, but I prefer DWV. Granted, I do have light hair and an oily scalp, but my choice has more to do with DWV being pure...without the apple cider in it.

Is ACV the same price as DWV where you live, Sakina? Just curious.

I have also used both and I prefer ACV.  The white seemed to make my hair feel drier.  I have been using the ACV for 2 months now, and I do like it a lot better.  No, it does not leave an odor in my hair, and I use it as a final rinse (dont rinse it out).
