:) Hello! I ran into this site looking for ways to take care of my daughter's hair. I'm so glad I found this site! I have a million questions. My daughter is five and she has dirty blonde hair down to her elbows. I have red hair down to the middle of my back. I really want to find better ways to take care of our hair and natural products rather than using products with all kinds of chemicals. I've been reading everything in the message boards for a few weeks and I finally decided to join!

I would love to speak German but I have very limited knowledge of it so I am not sure what Guten Tag is?  guten is good if I remember right but I am not sure what tag is?

Guten tag is good day. It's one of the only things I know to say in German, and that's after living in germany for 1.5 years. Very sad, but I just haven't had the chance to do much outside of the army base. The exchange rate is pretty bad, .66 Euro per Dollar. Spanish makes more sense to me, alas, we were stationed here.

Germany is a great place to visit, but it has been a nightmare living here (mostly due to the Army). I really like a lot of things about Germany, but it's not very convenient. In the states, everything is about making you comfortable and getting you to buy, buy, buy. Here, the stores close early, nothing is open on Sunday and there is NO air conditioning. We got here July of 06 while I was 7 months pregnant. Most of the mothers I've talked to agreed that any temperature about about 40 degrees F is way too hot. The temps here were so high, the only relief you got was the air conditioning in the car. One really cool thing here is the autobahn. I'm from Denver and most of the cities in Colorado run into each other. Here, each city is separate, surrounded by countryside and connected by highway. You can travel pretty far on the autobahn in an hour. There's so much less traffic.

I studied German for a year around 1995.  I remember a bit more than I might otherwise because I was also studying for a masters in voice, (hence the German, the plan was to sing in Europe after I graduated) so I was running into a lot of it in my songs.  

Anyway, another useful phrase is  "Ich weisse es nicht" which is "I don't know".  And of course, "Ich spreche keine Deutsch!"
