Title: Hair removal
Post by waiting4longlocks on Jan 23rd, 2008 at 10:22pm
I'm thinking about removing the hair on my arms... has anyone ever tried Veet?
Or any other alternative to waxing? Angel Spun has already warned me about Nair!
Thanks! :D

Umm i actually shave my arms!  :P
-I know it's not the best method but it grows a lot slower than the hair anywhere else, so I only need to do it like once every 2 weeks or so... in the winter i don't really do it, mostly in the summer.

I would advise strongly against chemical depilatories of any sort. They either cause severe burns or don't work at all.
Shaving is the quickest and cheapest method, but also the most temporary. Regrowth can also be thicker and darker.

If you're seeking a more permanent solution, you should probably just wait until you can afford laser treatments.

I've never used Veet, but I have used Nair on several occasions with no problem (other than the smell, but thats only temporary).

I think before you try any chemicals on your skin, you should test a small area first, I believe they even suggest doing so in the instructions. If you don't experience a reaction after 24 hours, then you should have no problem using the product.

Thanks for the feedback! I actually just used the Veet hair remover (with the bladeless shaver) and it worked REALLY well with my skin! It feels so smooth now:) I will say though that it did start to get a little tingly so i rushed to take it off but it still turned out okay. Thanks again for everyones help!!

I am saving for laser removal all over. I'm not extremely hairy, but I am just not a fan of body hair. (maybe it's a gay thing. I don't know)
When I say all over, I don't mean my head. I would never get rid of my awesome hair (and it will be more awesome when it is finally as long as I want it)

Laser hair removal is expensive, but look in any non-national gay magazines (it seems this is really where they advertise and put special promos... Village Voice or Lavender are good free ones). I could flip 20 pages in an issue of Lavender and see half that many averts for hair removal specials (buy one package, get another half off, etc..)

Good luck! (Also, laser hair removal works on the face too. I forgot to check if you had a male or female symbol under your name, but after getting everything else removed, I'd say go for getting rid of your beard growth too! I know I am totally raw organic foods eater and diehard environmentalist, but I say if you want to get rid of hair then by god get a laser to do it!!)
hehe
