I think I need to accept that about every 9-10 months I have to change my hair care routine.  I've been using the regular shampoo and conditioners with cones, but am too lazy to do a clarifying rinse often enough.  Plus I'm back to having to wash every 3rd day or so, so I figure there is no point in continuing.

I would like to go back to CO, but the suave daily clarifying conditioner has disappeared off the shelves of the one store I used to find it in.  Any suggestions for washing and conditioning conditioners that I could try now?  

Sorry, Valerie, I don't have a suggestion on s & c since I only use ones for curly hair and am cone free as much as I can be.

I do suggest you get a nice, big plastic cup (32 or 44 oz) and stick it in your shower.  Then, get a gallon of apple cider vinegar wherever its cheapest and put it in your bathroom.  Right after you comb out your hair and the shower is heating up, pour the vinegar into the cup and after you cleanse your scalp, fill up the cup with the warm water and rinse!  You decide the vinegar to water ratio, so experiment!

But here is what I have been trying  ;D
I just take the shampoo I am using (currently Nexxus) and pour a tiny amount into my hands and dilute it heavily in the shower in between the palms of my hands. I pour it over my hair and then I cover my hair with conditioner and massage my scalp & spread evenly throughout hair. Then I rinse, and sometimes I will condition again (I have thick, dry hair!). Even without the second condition though, it doesn't dry out my hair out as much as a regular S&C.

Hint hint: Many of the Suave Naturals conditioners are as light as the Daily Clarifying formula. I use these for CWC's all the time. The ones I recommend are Juicy Green Apple, Ocean Breeze and Vanilla Floral. There are probably more, but those are the ones that I know for a fact are light.

Stay away from Tropical Coconut - it has a richer consistency.

Thanks for the ideas!  I'm really torn on what to try next.  I have no storage space in my bathroom, and very little anywhere else in the house.  I try to keep my bottles in the bathroom for hair stuff to 2.  Plus the fact that I'm cheap and once I buy something I feel I have to use it up.  

I'm going to go off cones again and see how that goes.  I started using them because my hair never had the soft silky texture I wanted.  Cones gave me that, but caused a lot of damage.  

So I'm thinking of a couple different things.  
1) CO with a suave conditioner for washing.  Any suggestions on a conditioner for conditioning without cones?  
2) Switch to a natural cone free shampoo.  I've heard lots of good things about JASON lately, and for some reason I just keep thinking I want to use burts bee's.  I tried giovanni and hated it.  Any recommendations?  
3) Shampoo bars from Chagrin Valley.  I like this because it would really cut down on storage, but I have hard water.  Thoughts?  I know I would have to clarify every time I washed my hair.  What other things do I need to consider if I try this route?  Do most people still condition their hair after clarifying?  

Lastly, I am thinking of deep conditioning options that would emulate the texture I want.  Has anyone used sienna?

There was a review of shampoo bars on another board and I couldn't help myself and made a cart of a dozen items for $20.  Ida is out of town so I'm just hoping my cart will save and will have a little time to think about it.
