Title: Mayonnaise Treatments Post by waiting4longlocks on Apr 12th, 2008 at 5:47pm
Does anyone have any experience with home-made or store bought mayonnaise treatments? The girl who washes hair at my salon told me they use store bought mayonnaise treatments sometimes on clients. I noticed sometimes she would reach UNDER the cabinet to apply something on my hair, and would keep the container concealed. I finally had to ask, and she confessed. ;)

I've done mayo treatments many times and found that the results were nothing to scream about. It usually left my hair with a "heavy" feeling and there was an obvious mayo smell even after washing twice.
It also used to deteriorate the spring hinges in my beak clips and cause them to break. :( |

Eeeeww! I've never done a mayo treatment and the idea of it makes me squirm.
Hey, if they work for you, great!!! |

I actually just tried a mayonnaise treatment and here is my personal feedback!
I used a store-bought, already prepared mayonnaise treatment that surprisingly smelled AMAZING! (It really is what they have been using at my salon for some time now .. so sneaky!) I used the Organics brand treatment and I am pretty pleased! The color is kind of a dark yellow, and it almost looks like queso chip dip LOL. I left it in my hair for 10 minutes in the steamy shower with a cap over it & then I shampooed with a 2-in-1 & conditioned. My hair is feeling VERY silky and slippery, but it is still damp so I'll have to wait a little longer to see the full effect. :o ;) |

Some useful facts I just found on the internet about the specific product I used (Organics Mayonnaise treatment)
* Made with: Organic Herbs, Olive Oil, and Egg Protein * Experience a higher level of conditioning and moisturizing * With consistent use, Organics Hair Mayonnaise give the hair greater body, shine elasticity and moisture * Contains no petrolatum |

My sister once used a mayonaise treatment on her long-haired cats. It just made them look like grease-monkeys though ::). I hope it works better on your hair

I really hate the smell of mayo, but I have added just a little bit here and there to my olive oil deep conditioning treatments. I think what most people like about the mayo is the shine it gives their hair.

I use the mayo treatment too. It really leaves my hair very soft, silky, and shiny. I also use the Organics kind too.
Now mind you, I have used the old-fashioned store bought mayo long years ago but I had stopped doing it that way because I didn't like the smell it left my hair. So, I waited until the hair conditioner mayonaise came out called, "Organics." It is really good!! |
