Title: Hello! Post by AmandaC on Apr 17th, 2008 at 8:34pm
Hi there! Well my name is Amanda. I found the site one morning while looking for hairstyles for long hair, and I must say it's a haven for me!! Seeing how everyone cares for their hair is great, seeing as I used to not take great care of my hair...but now after reading all these posts I haven't touched a straightener!!
I lurked for a while, reading all the threads and have decided to join!! Everyone seems really friendly here. I do have a quick question: What are the types? Like I've seen people using terms like 1c, 1b and stuff. What does that mean? |

Welcome Amanda! Glad you decided to join in.
The numbers/letters that some people use to describe their hair indicate the fineness, thickness and curliness of their hair. I prefer to just look at a picture!!! :D |

Welcome aboard, Amanda. :)
Glad that you decided to join us. In answer to your question, the number/letter method that some of us longhairs use is part of the Fia Hairtyping System, which you can find here. Cheers! |

Thank you for that!!
And I would post on a hair forum and forget to talk about my hair... ^.^ From the classifying system it's 1bNi. Except it doesn't really have body, but there is a wave at the bottom of the strands, They may just have to be trimmed though. It's about 16-17 inches long, just past my shoulder blades. I'm a little worried it has stopped growing!! I have dyed it a couple times, so it goes from brown at the roots, and fades nicely to blonde at the tips. Thankfully it actually kinda looks natural! :D I don't really intend to dye it again because I've realized how bad the dye is for your hair. Al;so, I usually wear it down, or in aponytail. Which I;'ve now been wary of because I learned here putting a band in the same spot often can cause more damage!! |
