Title: Breakage from sticks
Post by GoddessCurls on Apr 21st, 2008 at 2:31pm
Has anyone gotten any breakage from sticks? I have recently discovered them as you know. When I was doing my peacock twist I weave it through the hair on one side of the twist then go over the twist and weave it into the hair on the other side. Am I doing this wrong> Because today I could have sworn I heard a snap (I hate that sound) I'm thinking suppose as I am moving the stick through my hair a strand or two is directly in front of the pointy part and the stick goes right through it. Is that just a sign that because they are hom made sticks they aren't slippery enough or could it just be my imagination.

You can have breakage if you have your hair twisted too tightly.  Try to not twist it quite as tight.

Well the twist itself isn't so tight that I fear breakage from that, but it's the hair around itn the part that I stick the stick through to make the twist stay where I am worried. I do have a lot of hair and it is pretty heavy. Maybe I do just need to loosen up the twist, my issue with that is security and being sure it will stay.

Have you tried Amish hairpins along with your sticks?  The hairpins will aid in keeping your bun secure and then you can add your sticks either for decoration or also weave them into your bun.

No, I haven't. I'm kinda new to the "hairtoy" world but I am sure I will be experimenting.
