I tried to post one of these before, but something funny happened.  I hope I'm not posting twice!

I am trying to grow my hair as long as possible.  I love long hair and had it as a child until about age 10, all the way down to my thighs.  I got a pixie cut in college (no, not right from the thigh-length, there was much misery in between) and I've been trying to grow it out since then, growing frustrated and cutting to a chin-length bob.  I hate going to the salon, so I tend to leave it a couple of years without a trim, and I haven't been treating my hair well.

I currently have hair that's a couple inches longer than shoulder-length, but when my sister's in town in a few weeks she's going to cut it to shoulder-length, to eliminate damage and even it out.  It's very dark brown, straight, fine and thin.  If I braid it when it's wet it holds waves all day.

So I'll be posting next in the journal, to explain all that misery I mentioned earlier.

Welcome sky!  There are several others here that are in that growing out stage and have recently had major trims to even up the ends and/or remove damage - so you are not alone!

From your description, it sounds like you have the same hair type as me (straight, fine, thin...I'm a 1aFi). And I'm no stranger to "hair misery" myself - we've all got our stories.
