Title: skin that's breaking out and irritated?
Post by roomtogrow on Aug 24th, 2008 at 10:53am
hey everyone, i know some of you folks use all natural skin and hair products. i'm breaking out lately.  i don't think i'm having a reaction to anything, just have some hormone changes or stress causing skin problems. i've had allergies in the past to regular over the counter acne creams so i'm looking for something gentle to take care of this mild breakout instead of chemicals, if possible. let me know if you have any suggestions.

Well, I recommend meditation for the stress.  Also, toothpaste applied to a pimple at night after washing can dry it up by morning.  If you use a facial mask, apply a bit of that at night.

I wish you luck roomtogrow. I have been having bad breakouts for awhile now, and recentky had to go back to the dermatologist to get something to clear it up. Let me know if you find any natural cleansers that you really like though.

Meditation will definately help!  I agree with Sakina.  It has so many benefits.

I'll throw in an off the wall comment on this.   ;)

Make sure your pillow case is clean.  If you have oily skin, you may need to change your pillow case every day.  Even though you may wash your face before retiring, you have all those hours of sleeping on the pillow allowing the face oils to soak into the fabric.

I have two pillows and each night I rotate. One night I will sleep on one side, the next night I flip it over, then I move onto my 2nd pillow and repeat. When I have slept on all sides of both pillows, I change the cases and start all over again. you also have to be sure that when washing your face, you use clean towels. I read somewhere about applying cleansers with 100% cotton balls or pads, to avoid your hands from touching your face, I haven't tried it though.

Yep and hair oils.  I find it's even worse with satin pillowcases.  I only sleep on them in colder weather when I'm less oily.

thanks ladies for the great advice. trish, i liked the website care2. i'd never seen it before. sakina and curgirl, i'll definitely try meditation. i do yoga sometimes, but it tends to fall off my schedule when i get busy-which is probably when i need it most.  bb-i hadn't thought about the pillow case but i do change mine often.
i'm going to try  meditating a little since i'm sure it is stress related. also, i'm going to try some of those natural skin recipes. i'll let you know how it goes.
