Title: Oiling Specifics
Post by waiting4longlocks on Sep 10th, 2008 at 3:05pm
I've been up-ing my oilings and just had a curious thought.. how long does everyone here let the oil sit in their hair? Besides overnight oilings, I normally let oil treatments sit for about 20 min. Does this seem long enough? Also, I've been using lavender oil on my roots & a concoction of jojoba, olive oil & sometimes avocado oil.. any other suggestions?

I do regular light oilings at night.  It is not washed out - just absorbed.  When I do a hot/warm oil treatment, I will leave it in for about 20 minutes.

I do light oilings in the morning after combing my hair, if it looks dry, haven't needed to in a week though. And I do a "treatment" oiling before I shampoo and leave it in for around an hour.

I oil my scalp before I shampoo and leave it on for an hour.  I lightly oil the ends in the morning and just leave that in.

Sometimes, I leave the oil on my scalp overnight and wash out in the morning.

I use oil sort-of like a gel or a leave-in.  I put it in when my hair is wet and leave it, then re-apply it if my ends feel dry or course (they usually do).  If I'm doing a heavy oiling I usually just leave it in overnight.
