Well it is a MINI-van...  :P

In 1968, the Dart, Valiant, Maverick, and Nova were considered compact. Now they would be mid-size sedans. Maybe the owner is old and the van is the same size as their old 1962 Valiant.

Why is there a section specifically for compact cars anyway? :-?

I've seen Excursions and Navigators in parking spaces for compact cars.  :o  I figure they have to park their oversized vehicles in those spots because they can't read.  I also figure they carry LOTS of insurance on their vehicles so that when a big truck comes around the corner and clips the bumper off, they are covered.

You can fit more spaces for compact cars in the same lot than you can spaces for larger vehicles, but it gums everything up if people park crazily when trying to fit their big trucks into the smaller spaces.

True enough. And then you have the people like myself who actually do drive compact cars and can't fit into the "compact" spaces because the gigantor vehicles are taking up their own space and half of another.

Personally, I keep strange hours, so that helps a bit. If you shop late enough at night, for example, you practically have the whole dang parking lot to yourself.  ;)
