Title: Just Stepped out of a Salon..

How to Look Like You've Just Stepped Out of a Salon
By Sam McKnight, Hairstylist

Never let a hair dryer be too hot or too close.

The greater the volume (you want) the bigger the brush (you need).

The optimum styling time for hair is when it is 85% dry.
Hair drying = hair volume + a groomed finish.
Drying hair with a dryer lifts the hair from the roots, and gives added body.
Natural drying promotes natural curls and wave.
Don't fry, attack, or overdry your hair. LOVE your hair.

To give hair added luxury and shine, always do the final rinse using bottled water. That sounds decadent, but tap water around the world has a variety of different pH levels and some harm the hair. Using bottled water ensures a neutral/balanced pH level. Within a month your hair will have a natural shine and improved lustre.

Build a rapport with your hairdresser. Pop in every time you are passing by.

I think that article has some good ideas. I especially agree with the "LOVE your hair" part.  I also really have noticed that whenever i wash  (because I almost always let it dry naturally) my waves turn even more curly, like what it says in the article. Then the longer the time period i leave after  washing the less defined my curls become. It's kind of wierd that way. :-?
But anyways, thanks for sharing. :)

I think it's surprising and sad how many women can't remember what their natural hair color is or what their natural hair texture is.

oh I completely agree. Although I've never met a person who cant remember those things, I do think that it is sad that people feel that natural is unflattering. :(

A lot of people I know dye their hair all the time and flatiron it.  There are people at my school who I didn't even know had curly hair because they straighten it all the time.  Then there's a girl in my English class who's been bleaching her hair since 3rd grade.  :P

A couple of weeks ago I just found out that a friend of mine had naturally blonde hair. I had absoloutely no idea because she's been dying it different colours ever since grade 3. She also, flatirons her hair every single day.

How do people even make the time to flat iron it everyday? I can barely take the time to put it in curlers at night!

And hmm, I've heard bottled water is better before. Maybe I'll start buying some at school everyday and using them on my hair XD

Bottled water is better, but omg, what an expensive habit! Cold tap works just fine.

And honestly, that article sounds like a lot of brushing & blowfrying. Truly loving your hair certainly doesn't entail doing that to it every day! Of course, it was written by a hair stylist...they don't know any better.  ::)

It's also quite disturbing that any parent would let their 3rd grade child bleach their hair. Don't they have anything better to do with their money/time than fry their kids' hair with peroxide?!

I can't say I'm convinced about the bottled water rinse.  But I really think this bottled water craze in general is fairly ridiculous.  It can't be all that good for the environment, all those plastic bottles being wasted on stuff we can get our of our tap (gasp! :o ).
