Thank you both for your kind comments. :) Yes, I do have tons of hair. Very thick. I suppose I should change my hair type (it says underneath my avatar) from ii to iii one of these days because I measured when maybe about half of it would fit in the ponytail.  :P

Foreverfay, my hair is about shoulder length when pulled straight or if its wet? I dont know. Would you consider what you see here to be shoulder length? Probably not, eh?It's about 14" when wavy, and almost 15.5" when I pull it straight. I know I'm so excited for when it is long! I'll neeed to start learning how to braid and things like that because I dont even know how to french braid neatly on other people, let alone myself. Good thing I can just do  a normal english braid. Thanks!

Hmm maybe I am measuring wrong.I'm at 16.5 inches and that is about 2 inches past my collar bone.If 14 inches for you is your shoulder than I'd imagine 20 inches would be where i am(the very tips of my hair reach my armpits if that's any indication)

Well i'm sure you'll be great at braiding and french braiding once you up and practice again.I have this really neat book my mom got for me when I was younger that's has all these fancy brading tedchniques that i'll use when i can get these layers out of my hair. :)

Are you measuring from your hairline? Cuz I've made mistakes before by just measuring at the side of my head. If you aren't measuring from your hairline, what you do is put the tape measure at the hairline then pull it all the way over your head to the end of your hair.  :)

I thought I was supposed to measure from the hairline right above my forehead and down the back.  I have a short neck.  My hair falls to just below my shoulders in my back.  Am I the one doing it all wrong?

No,I'm pretty sure you're doing it the way I' doing it, so if its not the right way, I'm doing it wrong too. I think you just explained it better.  :-? ;D

Woah.That made a ginormous difference.When I measured the "right" way(your way) I got 21 inches for myself whcih makes a lot more sense than te 16.5 I was thinking I had(because I was measuring from the side.)

Oh this is wonderful!I've passed my first goal and am about 6 months from my long term goal(25 inches)depending on how fast it's going.Hmm well this definitely changes things up a little bit.
I'm maybe on a year away from my ultimate goal of 27 inches.But I may have to change that now since I was measuring from the side when I did that.
