Title: New growth
Post by Jilayne75 on Dec 7th, 2008 at 7:40pm
Lately, I've been noticing that at my hairline I've got more little teeny short hairs maybe an inch or so long that don't really belong. They don't appear to have been under stress, or anything like that, so I'm assuming most of it is new growth. I've never had so much of this before that I can remember before I really started taking good care of my like I am now.
Does anyone know why all of the sudden all this new growth at my hairline is happening and/or what I can do about it? It does get a bit annoying when I pull my hair back and these little hairs are all sticking up. Thank you!

After a hair is shed naturally, the folicle rests for 100 days before the new hair begins to grow.  I seem to have more of the short hairs on top at certain times, too.  If I'm doing a do that I want neat, I put a little gel or spritz of soft hold hairspray and smooth the hairs down with a baby toothbrush.  Most of the time I just call it my halo.

I've noticed them a lot now which is strange because I usually notice them during the summer.  I comfort myself with the thought that at least my hair grows back after it's been shed.

Well then, yay! At least my hair is over its resting period then. Thanks for the advice.
Whats wierd is that I have a friend who has tons of those little hairs in the front, almost enough to be bangs but not really. Her hair is so weak and damaged that she can bite a little clump of those hairs at the hair will fall off at the point that she bit it!  :o i'm pretty sure that's not normal, but I wouldnt want to try it because is would be totally damaging. And I'm pretty sure my hairs stronger than that.
Sorry.. I just had to share that... ::)

I have this "new hair" as well except mine grows along my part and is very thick. The first time I noticed it was in January of '07, than again in June of '08. my first thought was it was thickening up from having a baby in January of '06. Then I thought when it hapened in June that it was giving me extra warmpth for winter. And now, I wonder if it is those certain hairs, growing at the same rate and resting at the same rate? I agree, this can be annoying.

Sounds like what I had a while back.  It looked like I'd cut my hair along my hairline.  It was beyond annoying!
