For those of you who are married...

What did you do with your hair on your wedding? Hehe I was inspired to ask this question because of Space_Cadet's beautiful sounding fairytale hairstyle and I was wondering everyone else's ideas!

I was married so long ago...........28 years.  My hair was mid-back.  I went to a hair salon to have them style it to have curls - that was a disaster.  My hair would not dry, so it was damp when they took it out and the curls did not last.  I had daisies put in my hair, I did not have a veil.  You can see a picture at this link.  http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?p=999&gid=1349081&uid=771714

My wedding was 12 years ago and I had my matron of honor's mom do my hair.  After trying several styles, we decided to go with a loose bun with ringlet curls on the sides.  My veil was a circle of pearls that fastened around the bun.  My gown was Victorian style, so it matched well.   Wink

I was in another good friend's wedding a couple years later.  The dresses were more modern.  For that one, the same stylist gave me a 'do that I have used several times since.  It sounds difficult, but it really is not.  And it looks like you had it professionally done in a salon.   Lips Sealed

Pull all you hair in a high pony tail, just below the crown of your head.  Use a tie that closley matches your hair color.

take small sections of the pony tail and loosly coil it until it curls around itself.  Using bobby pins, secure it to your head.  It will look similar to pin curls.  You should be able to hide the pins within the curl.

Use the same process and pin at different locations around the original pony tail.  I usually end up with about 8 or 10 different curls.  It depends on how thick your hair is and how much hair you take in each section.

You can also add flowers or other decorations in the center of each coil for a more dramatic effect.

Have fun! Grin

This sounds darling.  Cheesy How long is your hair?  If I am imagining this correctly, you are twisting each grouping of hair until it twists onto itself.  My hair would be long enough that it would hang down a bit.  Do you then pin up the the sections as well as the ends?

I've been doing a variation on what KASiss said. I put my hair in a ponytail and instead braid each section and pin it around my head. I saw it on a website once and tried it on myself and it was really nice. And braided sections tend to be shorter than twisted ones but I do have to pin it up in and around so that it doesn't hang down.

I'll have to try the braids.

I coil the entire length of hair so it looks like a circle and then pin it, ends and all.  It looks sort of like bunch of little nests around the crown of your head.   Smiley

When I first had it done, my hair was just below bra strap length.  Now it is hip length.

This also would look nice on a bride that chooses not to have a veil or headpiece.  Just add some rose buds here and there and some babies breath and your set  Wink

Oh I just thought of something else...

small sections of strung pearls placed throughout the style (kind of like the accent braids talked about before) would add a nice effect for a wedding also...    Grin

My 'do was pretty simple. My hair was waist length so my aunt french braided it with the end tucked under as much as she could get it. Then she secured a long, decorative comb thingy over the outer braid that had flowers with little pearls. Simple and pretty. Smiley

I too had my hair in a french braid at my wedding almost ten years ago.I also couldnīt tuck the ends under,so I rolled them into a small bun fastened with small sparkly claw-clips.(My hair wasnīt nearly as long as itīs today) Grin

My hair was quite short when I got married, but my best friend's hair was about waist length.  She had is put into spiral curls, and then into a huge flat bun.  Some of the strand were braided into tiny little braids that were then curled.  She had a really pretty bun wrap, too.  Looked really great, but didn't last at all, and by the end of the night, it looked wretched.  I highly recommend a trial, and then wearing your trial hair for a long period of time.

Hi Leia!

I got married in 1988.  Hubby and I eloped and I did my own hair up on a bun.   I was living in New York at the time and was seeing hubby, who was in Canada, on my x-mass holidays.  We had been dating in the states for about a year when his Visa expired and he had to leave  and go back to Canada:'(
We thought what the heck, we love each other, long distance relationship are so heart breaking, lets get married now! I borrowed a wedding dress from one of his female friends and hubby ran out and bought a ring. We got the paper's done then three days later (new years day) we sneeked out of his mothers house and got married at city hall. Then my hair was in layers and a little past my shoulders.  I got married in the winter, Dec 31st but we celebrate the day August 21 as we  renewed our vows last year at the Ren Fest.   And I have pictures!  I was so young then oh god!

Been married almost 12 years.
At that time I had shoulder length permed hair with suble layers cut in the front.
I wore it down-
went to my stylist and she curled it up nice with a curling iron.
