Aveda products

I recently tried Aveda's Sap Moss shampoo and conditioner (for dry hair).  It leaves my hair very soft and manageable  Cheesy.  Has anyone else used Aveda products?  How do they work for you?

I havenīt tried the Aveda Sap Moss-but the Shampure Shampoo and Curessence Conditioner.I like them a lot, they make my hair shiny and manageable.I donīt use them all the time(my absolute favourite being Biolage products and a line thatīs only available in Germany)but they are my trusted stand-by for bad hair days, when nothing else works! I have been using Aveda products for about the last 6 months.  I generally use Shampure for everyday and Sap Moss for when I am on holiday and in the sun too much!  I have also used their chamomile conditioner as I have blonde hair.  I think their products are great and my hair has been in much better condition since I started using these.

Does the chamomile conditioner help bring out the blonde highlights in your hair?

Yes the Chamomile does bring out the blonde highlights.  I believe the longer you leave it on the more intense it is however as I am already quite blonde I only leave it on for a couple of minutes.

The only 'problem' I have with Aveda products is that they make my hair so soft that I have trouble keeping anything like hairsticks etc in my hair as they just slide out.  Mind you that is a good problem I think  Cheesy

Try braiding your hair before you coil it, and use a sewing motion when you insert the hairsticks.  I have extremely smooth, slippery hair and my sticks absolutely will not come out until I take them out.  Braiding the hair first can make wearing hairsticks easier for a variety of challenges; e.g., very heavy hair, very fine hair, very slippery hair, etc.  Different shapes can make a difference too...  I prefer round sticks and know others who swear by square.

I just might have to try the Chamomile conditioner to see what it does to my dark blonde hair.  Thanks!!

I agree that their products make your hair soft.  I have a little trouble with the shorter, flyaway hairs, but have found a tiny bit of jojoba oil controls them.  When I use hairsticks to hold my hair in a bun or knotted ponytail, I make sure to weave the sticks through my hair and catch enough scalp hair to hold them in place.

I've finally broken down and ordered some Aveda products through drugstore.com (which you can search for all your favorite products at the bottom of our Hair Products & Appliances page at http://www.longlocks.com/drugstoredotcom.htm), just to see what all the fuss is about.  I have to admit it's taken me literally years to get to this point since I've never been really fond of Estee Lauder or its subsidiaries.  I'll try to remember to let you know what I think after I've tried them.  I am trying to ween myself off silicone products and was actually quite surprised to find that many of their products actually contain silicone.  I love that I can see all the ingredients on that site.

I also bought Burt's Bees Avocado Butter Hair Conditioner, philosophy cinnamon buns shampoo and Aussie Real Volume Conditioner (which suprised me with no silicone)... and about a hundred different body washes!  I'm finding that scent is meaning even more to me lately than it usually does so I thought I'd pamper myself with all sorts of wonderful ones, LOL!

I also found hair vitamins (GNC's Women's NourishHair) there that contain all the stuff you take bikerbraid.  I think they were only $7.99 for 60 tablets.  I ordered a couple bottles just to experiment with but I take so many vitamins now I'd be surprised if I saw a significant difference in my hair.  Thought you might like to know, though!

WOW, you must have either had a fantastic month of hairstick sales or you inherited a small fortune!   Wink

Be sure to let us know what you think of all these new goodies.  I'd love to hear what you think.  I too would like to wean off the silicones, but can't seem to get off them completely  (I'm weak, I know it).

Enjoy the scents for me........(I'm allergic to many scents and perfumes, so I have to enjoy them vicariously through others).

Actually, I've had a respiratory bug since last week so I've been stuck in bed alone with the laptop.  Since I refuse to type on the darn thing, that means shopping!  ;)

I'm sorry to hear you are not feeling well.  Tongue  But as we all know, shopping and chocolate will cure anything.  Hope you are feeling better soon.

Wow, I got my stuff already... it actually came yesterday afternoon.  The Aveda stuff smells heavenly, though I haven't tried anything yet.  And the philosophy cinnamon buns smells fabulous as well!  Can't wait to try some of this stuff out.  YUM!

I hate to disappoint you, but those products are not intended to be eaten.  Grin   However, after using them, watch out, as others may decide that your hair is desert and start nibbling!

But do tell us how they work for your hair!

I love Aveda. I get my hair cut at an Aveda salon and she does the best job of anyone. They never try to chop all my hair off either.
Also, if anyone is into coloring, do it at an Aveda salon. Not only are their colors really natural looking, but they have the lowest ammonia of any permanent color and it doesn't do as much damage.

I use sap moss occasionally, and I even use it to shave my legs!  Roll Eyes

The next best thing I've found is Redken all soft shampoo and so long shampoo. That leaves my hair really soft.
