Shave head question
May 15th, 2003 at 11:39am

I got into an accident about a year ago and was forced to shave my head. I have heard rumors that hair texture, color, ect. will changee if you shave your head. So far I haven't noticed any differance, my hair is now about 2-5 inches long. Has anyne ever had experience with growing back shaved hair? ??? I want my long hair back. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and please pardon the bad spelling.

Oh you poor dear. I don't have any direct knowledge of changes in hair after having the head shaved, but I will relate what I do know:

Hair color can change due to stress and age.  The texture of your hair comes from the shape of the folicle.  This can also change due to age or accident.

If you have not noticed any change at this point, I would not think you will experience any significant changes with your hair.  Be patient, you can grow your long hair again.  Take good care of yourself and your hair, and it will grow quickly!

Oh my, you poor thing!  Bikerbraid is right, if you don't see any changes so far, there really shouldn't be any down the road.

I have a friend who had breast cancer.  After she went through treatment and her hair grew back, her straight brown hair grew in silver with the most beautiful curls.  She was thrilled to death with her new look and new outlook on life :)

I am pleased to announce since May 15, 2003, my hair is now about 12-15 inches long, and no drastic changes have occurred as a result of me shaving my head, other than a small patch of hair that refuses to grow back around a scar I have had since I was about 3... this one remains a mystery to me since I had hair there before  ???. But oh well, and on a side note I was going gray before I shaved my head and now that my hair has some length to it again I don't see as many gray hairs anymore, but that could just be my imagination, or the fact that my husband has more gray hair then me.

Much Love

My hair has always grown very quickly luckily for me. Currently I am trying to grow it to the length it was when I was 8 just short of the top of my butt. I got a ways to go. Especially since I have very curly hair even when this long when my hair was wet when I was little it came to about mid butt. My husband is actually trying to grow his hair out too, to the length he had it when he was 18 about mid back, alas he won't listen to me though when it comes to the wonder of using conditioner to keep hair healthy so his growth is incredibly slow and he needs constant cuts because he is so rough with it that it breaks often and he has to wash it everyday because he works around food and nasty grease and food stench just sticks to his hair. Thanks for all the support and I can't wait until my hair is actually long enough to braid decency again, I miss being about to throw it in a braid and forget about it.

Much Love
