Natural conditioning spritz?

Does anyone have any advice about how to make a natural conditioning spritz that I could use to tame fly-aways and static? I would also use it to dampen my hair on "dirty days" (days that I don't wash) so that I can restyle my hair (it's only shoulder-length, so it needs dampening between different up-dos).

I have been using "Paul Penders" conditioning spritz, and I like it, but it is pricey. In fact, I have been diluting it with water to make it last longer. I could certainly use a recipe that I could prepare myself or a less expensive commercial brand idea.

to make your hair look clean rub baby powder into it. for a conditioning spritz that holds like a hairspray:
add one orange- juiced
let sit for a day
add two drops "hot oil treatment"
add one squirt Infusium23
let sit 12 hours
add one orange-juiced
let sit for a day
add one teaspoon baby powder
add 1/4 cup lemon juice
let sit for one day
shake up for every use
if needed add a tablespoon water
add in the order above!

Reply #3 - Jan 24^th, 2004 at 11:15pm what do u mean a starter recipe? do you want another one? it really works and in your refigerator it will last up to 3 months. if it isnt strong enough to hold ur hair add another orange and let sit another day. Happy Hair!

Reply #7 - Jan 26^th, 2004 at 2:07pm I have a sprayer/mister that contains distilled water and a few drops of jojoba oil. I mist my hair after combing it out in the morning to tame any fly-aways and to make it a bit easier to style into a braid or bun.

Reply #9 - Jan 27^th, 2004 at 3:28am I'm sure any conditioning oil would work. I've never had any luck with olive oil (too drying), but some use it with success. There are many other conditioning type oils that I am sure would work.

Reply #12 - Feb 20^th, 2006 at 5:20pm I like the idea of making a spray bottle with water & jojoba oil, I think I'll try that. Do they mix together well, or must you keep shaking it up? ETA: I tried the baby powder trick only once, it made my brunette colored hair look greyish at the roots, I had to wash it anyway!
