Relaxers are a harsh chemical process that damages the hairshaft.  As you hair gets longer, those relaxed ends get older and more brittle and prone to breaking.  If you take really good care of those damaged ends, you can minimize their breaking.  With time, you will probably want to slowly, gradually trim the relaxed/processed hair and return to your natural hair.

How much of your hair is relaxed?  Have parts of it (the ends) been processed more than once?
