'Unzipped,' an Edgy, Urban Fashion Show and DJ Concert On July 31, Will Benefit The Make-A-Wish Foundation(R)

Large 8 pm - 5 am event at Karma Nightclub to feature music, celebrity

stylists and Northeast Ohio fashion designers, models,

hair professionals, and make-up artists

CLEVELAND, July 13 /PRNewswire/ -- "Unzipped," the largest fashion, hair, make-up, and music event ever presented in Cleveland, will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation(R) of Northeast Ohio.  The event -- an edgy, urban fashion show followed by a DJ concert -- will take place from 8 pm to 5 am on Saturday, July 31, 2004, at Karma Nightclub, 2000 Sycamore St., in the Powerhouse on the Cleveland Flats west bank.

"Unzipped" will highlight Northeast Ohio's diverse "street-worthy" and couture fashion designers (including some novice local designers introducing their work), hair stylists, make-up artists, and models.  The fashion show, featuring 10 design collections of more than 100 outfits on 30 models, will be introduced by "19 Action News" reporter Dawn Kendrick at 9:45 pm.

Celebrity hair stylists include Jim Sterner from Denver, Yorque from San Francisco, and Greater Cleveland's Spritz and Michelle Keeling.  Attendees who arrive early can get "make-overs" from participating beauty experts.  For beauty professionals, a ticket purchase includes free admission to a continuing education class (worth four credit hours) from Sterner or Yorque on Aug. 1 or 2.

Laser lights and a DJ concert will entertain the crowd from 11:15 p.m. to 5 a.m.  The DJ "spin masters," who play electronically synthesized instruments blended with the turntables on their DJ stands, interact with the audience and people on the dance floor.  Along with headliner David Aude, they include Absolut, Anthony Rich, Aus-10, Damien, Doug Burkhart, Evan Evolution, K-Dub, Reese, Shell, Terry Urban, Thaddeus, Tik-Tak, and Trick.

Several auction items will be presented on the runway. The money raised from the auction, and a portion of the proceeds from the "Unzipped" ticket sales, will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation(R) of Northeast Ohio.  Among the auction items is a guitar from The Guitar Center, an autographed Cleveland Cavaliers basketball, Cleveland Indians game tickets, and an autographed baseball.  Additional items from "Unzipped" donors will be given to Make-A-Wish for the local chapter's silent auction on Oct. 5.

The event will be presented by WMMS (100.7 FM) Radio and Oasis Productions, Other media partners and sponsors are: Cleveland Scene; Northern Ohio Live; Bally Total Fitness; Eufora International; beauty salons Eurohair, Forbici, Locksmith Hair Studio, and Studio MZ; Red Stripe & Twisted Five beverages; the Cleveland Fusion; and Go Media.

"The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northeast Ohio is thrilled to be the recipient of the proceeds from the Unzipped show," said Sheryl Markowitz, the chapter's executive director. "The event promises to be unique and exciting, and it's certain to be a great success!"

Oasis Productions owner Marian Jacobs remarked, "It's gratifying that so many people can have a great time at a first-of-its-kind event while helping Make-A-Wish improve the lives of some local youngsters."

Tickets are $25 in advance and $35 at the door. VIP tickets, which include refreshments and best-in-the-house seats, are $35 in advance and $50 at the door.  For more information or to purchase tickets, call 877-22-OASIS (877-226-2747) or visit http://www.get-unzipped.com.
