As I understand, Alice bands are a type of headband.  Someone help me here - are they a fabric headband??

Oh, THOSE! I've never tried them, but I've certainly seen them enough times. I'll have to give those a try once it gets a little longer.

I used to wear them when I was younger but had quite short hair - it was especially convenient when working out. That or those stretchy fabric headbands that go all the way around your head.

So far I'm pretty lucky, my hair has already grown an inch and it's not looking too shaggy...I went and bought an Alice band and a few stretchy fabric headbands and they work really well for taming the few rebellious strands that want to stick out right now.  Happy

I'm so happy that my hair grows quickly!

*random*  The other day my roomie was combing her hair, it's about shoulder length and really curly and it was wet, and she was just sort of ripping the comb through it hurriedly...then she stopped and looked at her comb and said, "Wow, I have a lot of hair coming out..."  And I almost burst out laughing because I was thinking, "Well, of COURSE you do if you comb it like THAT!"

Anyway. It made me laugh. I comb my hair so carefully now.

My hair looks like it's gotten a little darker. Can perms do that to your hair?

You don't have a perm in your hair now, do you?

I know a woman who is naturally ash blond, but when her hair is permed it is pale blond. This looks unnatural on her as she is about 60. (Ok, the girlish hairstyle looked silly, too.) Her natural look now is very attractive. Now if only she would grow out her length...Wink

Perms can't change the color that your hair grows in, but if perming your hair regularly lightened it a bit, the roots will be darker than you're used to.

It's also probable that, as with most people, your hair is growing darker as you grow older.

Most people's hair does darken as they age.  The lighter the color when younger, the more the hair will darken.  As a kid my hair was white blonde - almost translucent.  Now it is a dark blonde, almost brown.

Nope...I don't have a perm now. I got it permed once, left it for about five months until it ruined my hair (which is apparently extremely fragile in that sense) and  chopped it off. What I have left looks darker than I remember, but I could be wrong.

It could just be the hair darkening of maturing...I really don't know. It seems to run in my family, my dad had dirty blonde hair as a kid that darkened to medium brown, and my mom had very light brown hair that is now very dark brown.

Up until recently I thought I had escaped the hair-darkening gene...when I was little it was extremely pale, almost white blonde and it darkened only slightly to a shiny golden blonde, which is stayed at all through high school.

But I swear, it's looking closer and closer to dirty blonde these days.

I can NOT imagine myself with dark hair...I couldn't even imagine myself with dirty blonde hair and now it looks very close to that. It's so weird. I'm still very pale so I think it looks a little funny.  -_-

Ah well. Just curious as to whether perms could do that.
