Do Redheads Fancy Certain Fragrances?
Nov 11th, 2004 at 8:43pm

What is your favorite smell, perfume, essential oil?

Do you think that redheads favor any certain scent over others?

Do you like florals, woodsy/exotic/spicy scents, green /earthy scents, sporty scents, others?

I love florals, especially rose scents.  But at Christmas time, I love a potpourri that smells like cinnamon.

Just for fun, what is your favorite?

I can't actually wear perfume because I'm overly sensitive and it makes me sick.

I do keep a bottle of perfume though. I don't put it on...

It was my mothers. She gave it to me when I was younger and I've kept it ever since. I've brought it with me everywhere because we live about 6000 miles apart. I just open it and smell it whenever I'm feeling lonely or when I'm really missing her.

It's called Emeraude.

Aside from that...I love the smell of lemon. It smells clean!

Although I'm not a redhead, I'm gonna jump in here anyway.  Hey, I'm a moderator, I can do that -  Grin

I am allergic to most perfumes and scents, but I do love citris type scents.  In particular the clean fresh smell of watermelon!

Poor darlings!  Allergic to perfume....

I tend to choose spicy or earthy scents, they seem the best for me.  If I wear anything too floral I end up smelling like an old woman.. (I still haven't figured that out  ???)   My favorite right now is Victoria's Secret "Very Sexy" *giggles*  It's wonderfully spicy and slightly piquant, and everyone remembers and comments on it!

I love light, citrusy, "green" fragrances. Currently, my favorite perfume is Issey Miyake original or whatever it's called (I've loved it since it came out a few years ago). I also adore YSL's Baby Doll - it's pink and smells fresh and grapefruity!

I think this lighter sort of perfume is quite trendy nowadays.

I love Issey Miyake!  Mmmm  It smells green and spicy at the same time.  I just have to scrounge around for the 60 dollars it takes to buy a bottle.. but it is so worth it!

I love Emeraude. It's so nice and old fashioned, in a comfy sort of way.

Oh Wow! I didn't know anyone else knew of that perfume! I've only ever seen it in the States. And even the last few times I've been there, it's been hard to find.

Sad

It is kind of hard to find. It's not fashionable, so you don't see it in better stores, just regular drugstores.

But it's pretty cheap, too. Have you tried searching for an Internet supplier?

Nah I haven't really bothered that much because I can't wear it. I have my wee little bottle here that I just keep to smell every now and again for nostalgia's sake.  Roll Eyes

I've only ever gone looking for it with my mum. She's not very computer literate so maybe I'll have to have a scout around for her online. I'd say there are millions of places that sell it...

Thanks to everyone for their comments and replies!

And Bikerbraid, you are ALWAYS invited!  Besides, we're practically having the "party" at your "house"!

But your insight is always useful and informative.  If you didn't pop in, our feelings might be hurt!

We love our moderator!!!

And Rua, that is so sweet about you keeping your mom's Emeraude with you to keep you from missing her so much!  I had an aunt that wore that fragrance and I've worn it, too.

Thanks again, everyone! Maybe we'll get some more responses!

You are not the only one with that problem.  It takes me ages to pick out a parfume because I always seem to end up smelling like, as you said, an old woman.

I like anything that smells like money.
(Just kidding)
The perfumes I like all happen to be expensive.  Although, my grandma got me this cheap french pear bodylotion and spray for Christmas one year and that stuff smelled sooo good.  I'd put the scented body lotion on and then spray the scent on top of it.  *Sniffs to make sure the smell isnt still clinging to her*
My favorite perfume right now is Miracle, it's very flowery and feminine, but not really in a sweet, flowery way.

LOL, nysq I have the same problem.  I like L'Eau D'Issey, Shalimar and Romeo Gigli, none of which are cheap by any means.  I try to wait until I can buy them at the Duty Free on my way back into the country.  Failing an international trip, I use www.abbeysperfume.com, they have great prices, and often have things (such as my Romeo Gigli) that are otherwise not readily available.

Overall, I find I prefer fragrances which are more spice-based, rather than floral.
